That's how I rolled. Don't bother with hp until the bonus is worth it... which is around lvl 60 or so. Before that... if there ever was a situation that would bring you down to 250 hp.. you'd probably be dead anyways. SPSs need all the m atk bonuses they can get. Demon usually decreases the amount of nukes per mob. Say... instead of 3 on some all you'd need is 2. Instead of 2... 1. You get the deal.
Different people, different preferences. I have regularly been saved by my +4 con at lvl 52. Plus, its cheap since you can use the -5 dye. But I have an OE'd weapon, so I don't need the matk as much.
People also forget that when you have +CON, you react differently at different HP levels. Situations where getting low on HP was actually unavoidable are rare especially with the arrival of Elixirs that are affordable to everyone.
If you come close to dying in PvE frequently and don't have C:DL, you are probably doing something wrong.
Yes, you can't get +5 a stat -4 a stat but it can be the opposite way such as -5 a stat +4 a stat. Anyway, I am sure you just wrote it in wrong.
The reason I stated the +CON with that setup is exactly the question the OP asked. Demon is good, but it does take away from your HP, that +4CON counterbalances that. :) Remember CON can be helpful in PvE, if not even just for the extra carrying capacity of shots.
What I meant when I listed those tatts was to get them in that order due to importance. First get the +4INT then the +4WIT and then the +4CON.
The largest problem a SpS will face in pvp is the sheer boringness of lots of downtime due to fast casting and low damage per nuke (DPN). Reducing this downtime will give you a much more pleasurable experience. Increasing your DPN is a great way to set yourself up to reduce this problem.
Seriously, the HP factor of demon shouldn't come into play. You shouldn't be getting hit, or be getting hit long enough to run into a problem. If you are looking for pvp, just wait till you hit B grade at least.
Been playing a spell singer straight for over 2 years, if you have any other questions I will be more than happy to help you. I ran into many mistakes while playing mine that I would be happy to distinguish for the other SpS players out there.
If you plan on getting B grade robes, my recommendation is Avadon. By B grade you should either have your own, or established connections with an SE. Around this time you may start PvPing and Avadon is good for this. If you were like me I used avadon until lvl 71 (don't be like me ;p) so I was glad I did get avadon. Cast speed will be a must, or at least I think so.
You can always keep your Demon Robe set for the times that you need that little bit extra. It is always annoying when you are like 20 HP away from 2 shotting mobs...
Some people even skip B grade and keep their demon, I got avadon at about lvl 54 because I wanted to PvP more and I do like casting at the speed of light! :p
Stay with demon until 61. At 61, get a DC set. If you have enough cash to buy a nightmare set for PvE after you've bought a +3 SoM with acu, then go for it (heh... unless your amazing at adena farming, you wont have enough for 2 A grade sets at 61). Dont get rid of your demon until you have either a NM set or an Arcana Robes set.
I went an Avadon set when I hit 52... however back in those days, things were different. You could grab avadon if ya want.... but you'll level faster with Demon.
Actually I don't recommend nightmare at all. Definitely not worth it, same goes for Arcana.
You will realize at higher levels it just isn't worth it. You will most likely be hunting with friends, and by A grade you definitely should have access to an SE live or boxed. I will tell you this now! IF you don't get an SE, you won't level! It is that simple. DC robes actually isn't bad for PvE, especially if you use the herbs correctly your down time shouldn't be that bad. In efficient parties you should have no downtime.
I don't know your playstyle, but at higher levels PvE starts to become PvP. You hunt mobs, and people hunt you, that is if you have wartags. DC gives you that edge...
When you hit B grade and you will hear many philosophies on the way you should set up your char. It depends how much money you have, how much pvp you will have, what kind of support you will have...it starts getting a lot more diverse.
Standard though for robes is Avadon then DC. And of course Demon until DC. If you plan on doing tons of PvP at B grade, I would definately say go Avadon.

I like NM.... I think its worth it. Depends on your play style. I still run out of mp even with a live 78+ Shilien Saint around... and there are definitely some places 70+ you have to be careful running around with ~C grade pdef. In PvE, cast speed means little as long as your still running out of mp and not getting beaten up my mobs mercilessly. M attack and MP regen is all that matters.
Since NM is not that expensive anymore, I think its worth investing in if ya have the cash after buying a DC set.
meh i am still lv.25 elven wizard :< so sps is good @ pvp? highest cast speed and decent nuke :) should out dmg most of the nukers right?
For the 50 or so seconds you have mana sure...
The one and only thing spellsingers have going for them is (very) short term damage output.
Provided you have the levels and equipment to match your opponents, you will kill just fine.
Just hope they don't buff up properly so your endgame nukes (vortex) do 600 damage.
This is provided no archer notices you as well...
AnyArcher01 gives you 7267 damage!
Spellsinger levels slower solo than any mage and most melee as well due to the worst mana managment and efficiency in the game.
Spellsinger has the highest reliable short term damage output in the game at any buff level... the problem is that archers with proper buffs approach you very easily and are considerably faster, tougher, and can buff against your nukes to make them nigh pointless. Worse, archery is by FAR more mana efficient...
Archer spends 12 mana per shot and does 1(crit block) then 6k, then 899, then 6k...
48 mana 12,900 damage.
Spellsinger will spend 105 per vortex and do around 1100 damage against reasonably buffed opponenets.
105 mana = 1100 damage.
Granted, the spellsinger has more mana... but trust me on this one, the archer will do almost as much damage in that first 50 seconds, and will keep firing LONG after the spellsinger ran out of mana and needs to wait 18 seconds (fully buffed) for enough mana to fire ONE nuke.
If you want to level quickly and be the god of PvP, roll archer (buffed PvP) or necro (unbuffed PvP/gankfest)
I will have an SE, and I will do a lot of PVP and PVE... So I am going to get Avadon and Demon for both of those occasions. What weapons should I get as well? Again thanks for all your help.
Good, idea to have both for B grade. Use your avadon if you would be 2 shotting the mobs anyway with or without Demon. Casting speed usually doesn't help leveling, but the philosophy is still correct, the faster you kill the faster you level. You will just have to sit down sooner but you most likely killed more mobs in a shorter time span. You don't really wanna be doing more than 2 shotting mobs.
Weapon, for C grade I would recommend a Homu sword with acumen. For B grade either an over enchanted Homu sword like at LEAST +5, or a sword of Valhalla with acumen...or maybe a wizard tear...although I didn't use that because it didn't exist when I was in B grade.
But like Ellie said, I think most servers are except bartz and teon...maybe franz.
Some people still do play Kain though, I play it because I have a high level character that I have worked on for over two years and have some good friends that play with me. But I can definitely see the shortage of people.
Franz does have a much higher "player" base than say Gustin. Lucky for me, they all go to bed before I get on, so I have my pick of where ever I want to grind.
true i picked franz cause a friend whas on it i am euro and teon is more active then franz but i didnt mind but i dont hope it goes dead :< cause franz is the 2e euro server teon 1e so all euro players play there:P
