Elven Elders

Why did they nerf them? They can't recharge themselfs now? There were hardly any EEs at start, now nobody is going to play them. The EE class is going to become extinct. Also, why did they make it that the DE/ Light Elf healing class can not be recharged? The only reason I'm still playing my EO is because I am looking foward to Party Return :D. Well, thanks for your help.
The Invocation skill makes up for self-recharging. In reality, it wasn't until Clarity 3 that self-recharging is worthwhile, anyway. As for not recharging other rechargers, it's not as big a nerf as I was worried about. EE's are still worth playing, don't fret. ;) And why worry about others playing the class? Just leaves more parties open for the rare ones. Heehee.
Invocation > Recharge
Guess so.. I like playing the rare classes anyway :)
Invocation doesn't make up for self recharge... unless you play without acumen and mage dances maybe...
Clarity... Rezes... Wild Magic... Major Heal... Resist Shock... Party Recall... Prophecy of Water... Invocation...

...

As an SE, I feel you have no right to complain.

seriously WOW.

EE is no where NEAR being a dead class.

You are so incredibly usefull in pvp and your major heal can cast almost as fast as a **** battle heal with proper pvp buffs.

learn your class before you declare it dead please.
Invocation more than makes up for self recharge at lower levels but falls behind once end game buffs enter the picture. If it were still on its original five minute reuse timer and bishops hadn't gotten it on top of all their other boosts, things would be fair enough.

The class is still worth playing, but this was a harsh and absolutely unneccessary nerf.

play a dwarf....then yull know what nerf really means....lol
I dont mind the inability to self-regen.. just the inability to be regened by others :( :(

Still a fun class tho :)
I would not call EEs extinct yet. They still have a useful buff set. They are still the fastest healers. They are just going to have to be tighter on MP conservation then Bishops, now that Bishops not only have Invocation, but can be recharged by SE/EE.
People who say invocation makes up for self recharge cant really have played a EE. The problem isnt that self recharge is gone, its that they for some reason decided to give Bishops Invocation too.
EE = uber mix buffer/healer class.
imo bsoe should extinct and only PR should stay as a fast escape.
LofL, it more than makes up for it at low levels - of course not where you are now.

If they removed BSoEs, EEs would be back in business again.
I do play an EE, and I never used self-recharge. Just wasn't worth it. Now, with Invocation and 5-min reuse on mana potions, I'm in a far better position than I used to be. Running out of mana now takes effort, rather than it being automatic the moment I leave to hunt. It's a matter of timing with your skills, just gotta get used to them.

Just wasn't worth it.

Only if you never ran out of MP anyhow. Even with clarity 1, 12 MP each cast is nothing to scoff at, especially since with a decent build you can cast recharge almost as fast as you can regenerate, putting yourself at more regeneration standing than sitting, and ready to respond to emergencies.

If you ran OOM regularly and didn't self-recharge between clarity 2 (or 3?), that's your own fault.

Even with clarity 1, 12 MP each cast is nothing to scoff at,

With Clarity 1, each cast gave you 3 MP from Clarity, the rest was from your natural regen standing. You could get more just by sitting instead.
I made sure there was no tick involved when I checked this, so I'm not sure what was going on - I'm not sure what I missed, but I'll check again when I get home (if I can stop myself from playing my dwarf :p ). I might have missed initial cost, but I really can't imagine having done so.

Either case, I don't actually think I get significantly more than 3 extra MP per tick (I definitely self-recharge about as fast as I tick) by sitting down as opposed to standing up, and being able to react to damage taken immediately was well worth it.

Not "significantly", just like 30% to 60% more :p

by sitting down as opposed to standing up

And one more tip for an EE struggling for MP: if you have managed to be both sitting and standing/casting in the same tick, you still get sitting MP rate for that tick.
I don't have the actual numbers from Amathal at the moment, but the L2Calc agree with what I have memorised - they are 9 standing, 12.2 sitting. That means if I sit down the entire time instead of self-recharging for 20 minutes, I will have 80 extra MP over 20 minutes ... that's one heal. I honestly don't think it weighs up against being on my toes for when I am needed. ^^; And that's all assuming that recharge takes a full 3 seconds to reset.
Sure, you'll have more just by switching to BW robes... but I think it's also worth mentioning that lvl 56 EEs (according to the regen numbers you provided) don't have Clarity selfbuff :p

You will have better regen in BW, you will have slightly better regen at 58 (where you get Clarity 1) just from level bonus, and you will have your next level of Fast Mana Recovery at 60.
do the tests at 100% weight
Clarity 1 is 3% from 2nd part of skill's MP consumption returned. Some claim that the returned MP is rounded down to a whole number of MP (and it's what can be tested at 100% weight), but it's not a big difference in our case.
Amahtal is 58, and those are his regeneration numbers (Avadon, -7MEN). I would rather reroll than wear the BW or Majestic robesets over extended amounts of time. I could probably drop some more of his WIT tats or replace them with expensive ones to shift the numbers more towards sitting, but as it stands, his standing regeneration was the same as sitting.

Of course there are points (and set-ups) in which sitting down is better... but to return to the original point, that wasn't the case for Aranya (and it not for Amathal either).
