hello all

I've just purchased the epic collection, and currently also playing world of warcraft and have played that the last two years, but I'm finding lineage a bit different and unsure of how exactly to go about leveling up my character in a fairly speedy manner. The box came with absolutely nothing as far as a game manual, and I've been searching the forums for information and trying to learn about the game. I've currently got one level 3 orc fighter and trying to learn the questing system as well as as much as possible about the rest of the game. I'm also unfortunately unable to read the new player faq at work, for some reason it blocks that but not the rest of the forums (grr)

is there another place I can look for information about class choices and quests to gain armor, weapons and learn about my character's options? I saw a post (and bookmarked it) with a list of the different classes but no information on how to get there. With WoW, I had read everything online I could find about my warrior and then read a number of player guides, as well as the official guides, and I enjoy learning the in's and out's of each class and their roles in groups and raids, and I'd like to find that information for Lineage II as well. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Very much appreciate any forthcoming help

thanks
The fastest way to level is to kill things - there is at no level a really viable shortcut through questing most of the levels away. You could kill bigger or more things depending on how you hunt to level faster.

If you want to know about quests, check out stratics (http://lineage2.stratics.com) , which also has a fairly good guide to most other important game aspects.

As for class comparisons, there isn't really an up to date or complete one anyway - players have tried compiling this as a project time and again, but I've not seen it work.
I appreciate that :) I'll check that link now, thank you!
What server and Char name are you and maybe a few peeps could party up with you and/or invite you to their clans acadamy. There is always people who love to adopt a newb!
honestly at this point I've only got one very very new character and don't mind changing servers in order to find a friendly group to learn from :) If anyone has anything in mind, I'd likely switch servers and make a new Orc Fighter and can let you know what name I'd be using

thanks for the friendly suggestion! I'd love to take someone up on that :)
one other question, does anyone know if there is a pdf file of the game manual that I could print off and read over prior to making myself look absolutely clueless online? My copy didn't come with one (very frustrating) but of course I don't know if it was supposed to? Thanks Best Buy ;) lol
Unfortunatly the only online guides I know of are Prelune/C1 prima guide from 2 years ago...verrrryyyy out of date, or the various forums out there all with varrying amounts of relevent info. For the most part asking any question in the players question forum gets answered if some of the nice people who patrol it know the answer. As always tho using the search function is better to try first before you get the "search it noob" comment, mostly nice peple just link you to the posts you need if its a good day =).

Every server im sure would have some people who are willing to help out altho Bartz is the best server but im biased!
currently my orc fighter is on bartz, with the same name as my forum name :) if you happen to need a tag-along or someone to act as an entourage, please feel free to say hello :)
Welcome to Lineage2, the best game there is. Best, and also hardest, perhaps.

We have to learn about this world as we play in it, so we are not given all the information...or even much of it at all....to start off with.

You will, however, find that there are a lot of extremely helpful players on your server. They will give you ideas, tips, hunting spots, gear suggestions and a plethora of other information...and free information is often worth what you paid for it. You will have to use your judgment to filter out the opinions from the facts.

You will probably also run into not so nice players. Some may kill you for fun, others will try to trick you for profit. Never give you gear to anyone, ever. Lineage2 is also different in that way, the players, must protect ourselves. The game won't protect you from scamming, stealing and all types of malicious behavior which other softer games will protect you from. You have to be good to survive in L2.

That said, if you decide to come to Erica (my server) I would love to introduce you around. I have been playing L2 for approaching three years and I still learn new things every day and there ae still significant portions of the map that I have not yet visited. This is an amazing game and I hope you enjoy your time here.
I would greatly appreciate the help and would like to take you up on that offer, is there an ingame name I can contact you with? I'll make a new character and look for you :) My schedule is a little screwy this week, but I'm itching to get on and explore, and will do so asap :)
Bah, forget Erica... come to Sieghart and send me some mail. I will help you get some gear and show you the best hunting grounds for your class. If you want I will help you power lvl through Dg by taking you on a few three-person raids.

Raiding is the only way to skip the grind and get experience and levels the easy way, and raiding only works well for experience in Dg. I will also hook you up with my clan which will give you access to a clan hall (Many different uses) and free gear and such.

So, if you need someone to help you out, Skurvez, just find me (name is Vhaidren) on the Seighart server and we will get you into the game at light speed! Would love to have you.

EDIT: I suggest you take a close look at the Races, Classes & Skills section under "The Library" and find a class that really sounds fun. There are all kinds of different play styles for every race and character. Definatly take your time and find a class that you can really fall in love with and have fun with. You will be spending a lot of time with any character you decide to take to 40+ and beyond, so choose wisely.
If you decide to stay on Bartz, this weekend I'll hook you up with some free gear from my alts. Give me a message board PM and I'll tell you which of my charcters I'll most likely be on this weekend.
Welcome to L2. Stay for the long haulgh, it is worth it.

I'm on Gustin so no real help with the levelling unless you come there (almost everyone will tell you their server is the best :))however I'm happy to answer any questions you have (if I can). Just send me a mail here. To be honest you will find that almost anything you are unsure of will be explained or suggestions made if you ask here, most folks are friendly and will help as best they can. :D
Click "The Library" link on the main site (this site), you can get information that will cover you for a very long time about classes and races there, mostely up to date. also an extensive list of most wpns there to.

Then there is 2-3 other sites that are really good, i dont know wich ones im alowed to link to here, but im pretty sure lineage2.stratics.com, l2vault and l2guru.com good for you. Then there is also the best l2 site ever that has drop tables, mammon tols and ALOT of other helpful tools. However i believe ncsoft does not want that site linked or mentioned here, sorry. Ask about it ingame, im sure most ppl will know wich site your asking for.
WOW! thanks for all the helpful responses! I have to say, compared to the other game I've been playing (see first word) the community here is a ton more helpful and respectful to a new player. Makes you really want to get into the game and see what it's like. I'm on a bit of a wacky schedule at the moment and not sure when I'll be online next but looking forward to saying hello and to get a better feel for what the game is like

appreciate all the thoughtful and helpful responses

-cheers skurvez

Probably because most there are more "adults" here.
