I wanted to ask if it was Against the ULA to make a Text Sniffer program that would take the data from the Raid Command channel and compile it into text.
the idea is to Make an Attendance list for our clan for distributing of Itemdrops/High grade lifestones.
I know ive used in Everquest1/World of Warcraft without any issues with the Creaters of the game. was wondering it would be looked upon here before i start bugging my friends to edit the WoW verison they use atm.
Third-party sniffer by itself is not a part of EULA limitation.
Even though you have to decrypt data stream using reverse-engineering technique to aquire crypting mechanics etc. That is what will make your sniffer malicious from EULA point of view.
Not everyone can use vent and not lag horribly in game at the same time.
A good way to do it, is to have party leaders be responsible for noting down/screenshotting who was in their party and give that information to the raid leader afterwards.
With the changed command channel stuff you can now see the members of each party participating in the raid, if their party has joined the command channel that is :)
actually i think a gm might have said intercepting packets will get you banned
Sometimes you need to sniff packets to solve network troubles on your side. Sometimes you need some sort of proxy. It's ok as far as you don't try to dechipher those packets.
Any NAT/socks proxy gets packets through. Some proxies make logs of their traffic (may do it). It would be silly to ban people for this ;)
hehe Use Screenshots/pen and paper atm. i would just be a lot easier to manage if it was allowed to write a command and a program did all the text work.
would aslo be easier to manage with offiers/sub leaders to do it on raids not everybody have time to sit and modify etc.
