Charm?

What is so great about Charm? How do it work?

and what is Cripple all about? is it for just running away or something?

i'm kind of new and was just wondering about this stuff

Charm is useless, do not waste the SP. Cripple is the Tyrants version of slow I believe(havent ever been a tyrant, nor hit by it that I can remember)

So i have lvl 27 monk, and wondering heavy and light armor, which sure i go for? what skills make it fun playing?

Go for light armor (you have the mastery of light armor only)
As for fun things ? It's really starting to get serious when you are tyrant (a little further like 46) you get a new panel of skills to increase your attack speed, you get hurricane assault wich is a very strong skill when you use shots with it and soul breaker a better stun skill and of course some totems.

Don't misunderstand it's not because you're in light armor that your monk can't take damage, he can take damage but his main job is to deal damage :p and he can duo very well with a Shillien Elder or a prophet.

If you are enjoying the monk now I would stick with it, they are a very versatile class and supposedly they become a lot of fun at later lvls(I havent played one, but I hear about them sometimes)

I took my monk to tyrant in heavy armor. I tried light, but just couldn't stand how fast my Hp would drop. I recomend heavy till your class change then get a light set. I'm only low 40's, but I will agree that this toon really takes off after 43. I'm swinging like a green blur with my uber attack speed. Stick with it we're mean green killin' machines :)
