Why is there so many useless armor in this game. Why not have different armor with the same bonus.
Why not have a doom set and a heaven set with the same bonus but different look. Everyone running around looking the same :(

...but I do agree we need more diversity then nukers/healers in DC, tanks in NM and archers in Maj Light.

Ack there are MANY useless armors in the game... Who goes for Avadon Heavy??? Zubei robe??? Lets not talk about d grade... But anyways, i think that in general L2 dvs don't like to program much, many animations on this game are repeated, or they just copy the samemodel with a texture with minimal addition. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY EVENT GATEKEEPER LOOK EXACTLY LIKE MEW THE CAT?
We can't even try to compare l2 stuffs with others well known mmorpg's.
I once got a gloves of blessing(B grade) drop! I remember the good old days of mixing and matching sets just to have some sort of armor on. Theca top, Theca bottom, some random boots (cause i was super poor), gloves of blessing, and a great helmet. At least its not like in C1 where anyone wearing armor above Low C looked like they were wearing salamander skin mail.
The armors are Not useless, they have mdef and pdef. They just might not be the Most Useful.
If you are short on cash for the most useful, then the 'not most useful' become quite useful.
Yes, I keep a set of Puma Skiin armor in my warehouse. When my lil dwarf lady is invited on a date, or to a party, she wears it 'cause its really cute on dwarfettes.
There are other uses for armor besides hunting and PvP, if you have imagination.
Temple Knights and soloing SwSs that want the defense of the shield without sacrificing their damage output. And of course any style conscious elf in B Grade. ; p
I'm very glad that they have been focusing on wrapping up complete existant sets for all classes (seen the orc fighter girls in robes yet? Hotness!) before adding more.
And I'm hoping the next more won't be as useless as Apella or ugly as current S Grade.
They need to add item Dyes. Dyes for color, that is.
Sorry, but everyone wearing the same looking armor is very much common in all MMOs. There is only as good as you can get before you can't get any better. Lineage II's "grade" system means that many people in the same level range will be wearing the same top level gear (since it's so easy to get it, via various methods *cough*).
They can easily add some diversity by allowing players to dye their gear to different colors.
They need to introduce new (and more innovative/different) set bonuses as well. That will allow for different playstyles, etc. ATM everything about playing at all level ranges is rather templated: Get xxx gear and xxx tat, and 2 shot xxx mob with xxx skill.
I'm all for partial dyable areas on armour sets that only actually work with sets and aren't automatically generated. :p
As for the diversity of set bonuses - maybe you should look more deeply into your class, you have more options than two-shotting with C:DL or DS. And of course, most non-nuker classes have far more varied builds than what nukers ever see.
A "twin" armor for each existing set bonus that offers a different aesthetic look would work for me, so you don't lose functionality.
I dunno at this point if dyes would work, people running around with purple Majestic would be hideous. I'd prefer it if people didn't look like giant animated piles of fruit loops, like they do in WoW. If they did offer 3 or 4 controlled color variants though, that might work. Adding more black to your Draconic, maybe swapping the red and black as they are now, changing the red distribution to green.. just subtle tweaks. Anything to get some diversity going, because the one class= one armor in the higher grade stuff is pretty lame.
Doom robes goes down as the worst robe set I have ever seen, the only reason to use it is for looks, and then it doesn't look all that great on most characters. The +2 int m attack bonus simply is not worth the -3 wit, especially considering that the far superior demon robe set is +4 int -1 wit, you get double the int for giving up one third of the wit.
Nightmare robe set isn't mich better. You gain 2 int and +8% magic attack at a time when each small increment in magic attack equals essentially no increase in magic damage. It almost isn't worth the -2 wit, and definitely not worth it for the cost of the set. Were the 8% to be applied to the magic damage and not the magic attack, this would be a great m attack based set, but because it only offers a tine increase in magic damage and must compete with the dark crystal set which offers a huge boost to casting speed with no downside, it goes unused and for good reason. A spellhowler with dark crystal will have both a faster casting speed and higher m attack than a spellsinger in nightmare robes. When I go to pvp, I have to change one of the armor pieces so I don't get the set bonus. Together this is when you know something is wrong with this robe set.
If I were to rank the robe sets on ability to increase magic attack it would look like this:
Demont > Arcana > Nightmare > Knowledge
In conclusion, the doom set is without a doubt worthless, and the nightmare robe set not far behind. The 2 C grade light armors which look like each other makes the one without the set bonus worthless.

It would be a bad idea to actually decrease the number of available armors.
One other point to bring out about this--particularly for the low armors, not everyone in the game cheats their way into 'the best'. (although I'll grant you the % who do is significant).
My characters certainly wore ringmail or scale...my first C-grade melee wore composite (which looks great, btw, and is not significantly inferior to FP which can be overpriced).
I like the choices and the fact that they are lower priced--but MOSTLY I like the fact that when I open a shop trying to buy those parts.......other players actually sell them to me and I can craft the functional piece of armor/robe to USE.
I couldn't care less what "everyone is wearing" or what is most popular. Not having billions of ill-gotten adena..I need to balance what works with what I CAN AFFORD. Often that has been not the top-in-class or even second best.
That is why there are, as you call them, 'useless armors and robes'....because some of us actually need them.
Honestly, if you want your armor to look like someone puked on it after eating a bag of skittles, please go play WoW. This is a PvP game, it is important to know which armor set someone is wearing at a glance. Figuring out who the healers are before they can even drop a heal is very important.
My HE wears rind leather armor and my TK wears dwarven chain. Some of us like being weird.
Exactly, my TH is in Rind as well...who cares, the sole thing I have heard here so far is, Avadon Heavy is not top so its useless, it sure isn't uselless, it is less used.
Every armour has it's place in this game, last time I saw someone in Puma was 2 weeks ago, when we had top and bottom in drop in Orc Barracks.
I don't need to here why this robe is better then that robe, I know the stats by now.
Best in stats, can be pretty bad for your personal playstyle.
