Not really, haven't played much with RTW around :P
The game is well balanced, but units are very diverse. A lot of luck plays into the mix unless you're talking preset battles. I prefer a strat game with an economy/production to manage (ie C&C or AOE)
Hehe, yea, if you want to micromanage like 100 cities, it will take a long time to even complete one turn :P
The cities don't need so much micromanagement as the workers (cities have some good settings in Civ 4). The workers will prioritize running halfway across your land to build random items, then run all the way back. Half the time, workers will be in the middle of running to assist somewhere and then turn back when the project completes. It's horrid.
