Orc mystic classes?

Player Questions Started Last reply 9 posts
after the shaman profession what defines the differences between the next tier?
I look @ the skill set for both and the warcryer seems to have more buffs generally but I have a thought that I may be mistaken. It just appears that the other profession posesses more offensive/debuff magic.
Can someone help explain the two orc mystic classes to me plz. :)
Overlord: [Alliance-Wide] Mage buffer, AoE seals, Alliance wide healer.
Warcrier: Party-Wide melee buffer.

Both have drains and a fast sleep.
OverLord -> God of all the servers
WarCryer -> Right hand of God
Others -> Just having fun

Snicker :)
Overlord is the harder and MUCH more patient path...
You will be the anchor everyone drags to the top in order to bring the hurt down in a siege. You are the holder and symbol of clan power, but its gonna be the clan which is burdened with helping you level up because getting in any other group is gonna be an uphill battle. (your buffs don't affect non-alliance members, even if they are in your group)
Overlords single-handedly change the tide of sieges... but it is not the way most people dream of.... it's by supporting your alliance. Alliance-wide Heals, CP heals, buffs and CoV... need I say anything more?

Warcryer is the slightly easier path and will make you more powerful in XP groups... your strength lies in buffing and helping XP up hordes of S-grade allies... you aren't too bad on the battlefield either. (but your group-wide CoV hitting 9 people just isn't quite as cool as hitting 300+ people...) This is not to say you won't have an impact... but it won't be in the same way.

Both orc mystics are incredible if played correctly.
I'd like to add that if your clan has regular AoE groups, as an OL you can be of some use in them, allowing your polers to live longer, make bigger pulls more safely, and making an (admittedly small) contribution to damage.

As an ES, I've also had a few interesting AoE duos with an OL, but I believe they would have been better if an SE had been present to recharge the OL.
To add to Maline's post, it is true OL can add to any AoE group, but to be frank most of their AoE spells' land rates are quite horrid in PvE even with Bsps. They also have to get insanely close to make them work and the Seals are mana intensive to get to land and actually do something.
That said, AoE root can make any AoE group very happy under the right circumstances.

On the lighter side, an overlord is amazingly tough given that they can both wear heavy armor and activate their soul guard toggle.

Self-buffed they can reach over 1600pdef in heavy armor without counting a shield. (this is of course dependant on mana)

Overlords are also a lot better than most people give them credit for in damage output.
Most people forget soul cry and the overlord's own buffs which allow him to reach over 1000patk with A grade damage weapons and a spell with the same effect as Death Whisper (for alliance).

Orc mystics are not quite as physically inept as the other race's mystics... even without their toggles.
Yeah, the land rate was a problem (although as a healer I do really notice whether an OL is there or not), but in Interlude they...

The success rates for the following skills have been increased:

* Seal of Chaos, Seal of Poison, Seal of Winter, Seal of Flame, Seal of Gloom, Seal of Mirage

I wonder if that makes a significant difference for PvE, especially on Winter and Chaos.

None of the mystics are fortunately 'physically inept' - they sure don't do as much damage as a real DD, but they can easily keep pace with any physical class that went -STR and possibly outdamage some of them, given right buffs and gear. Of course, there is no competing with a proper DD that went for an offensive set up, but then, every mystic class also brings other things to the table than physical damage.
I love overlords... even out of alliance ones... and IMHO they hold their own, but they land rate with seals is pretty spotty... Their land rate is better with OE'd equipment and Demon Robes, but this makes their cast speed abysmal.

I really wish they could mod INT... the seals have LOTS of limitations including range... my paladin's AoE root has a VERY generous hit rate in PvE comparatively... and I cannot use bsps to help the land rate! (note: OL's root is MUCH longer lasting...)

The point was that orcs have better melee stats than most mystics and with their toggles have more real offense.

I love battle healers... in fact my favorite bishop always melees... but let's face it, they aren't damage machines... they aren't even really comparable to the melee damage output an overlord dishes.

Put a 6x Paladin against a 7x bishop self buffed in the arena... with just melee.
(keep in mind that means the bishop gets btb6, might 2, and focus! - no i didn't use berzerk as the point of the test was durability, not damage output)

The paladin will slice the bishop to ribbons... and they aren't exactly known for their damage output.

I did this a few days ago while testing some Interlude stuff.
I was more than surprised at how much the paladin outputted on the higher level bishop.

I'd say physically inept (in comparison to a paladin or an overlord) is the proper term.

Note that this is not ragging on priests... Its just the truth.
You don't bring a priest, an overlord, or a paladin for their damage output. :-)
Yeah and sadly enough if you don't have a high damage output you either don't get any groups or you get crappy ones. Unless you're a WC who helps contribute to the high damage output classes with your buffs.

As long as OL doesn't have at least focus and preferably haste as well, we'll be less than desireable - because you'll need a second buffer in the pt anyways and that buffer can do all we already do.

Our seals are cute, but with their mp cost you can't poison/flame/winter/chaos every fight. You might be able to afford one of those per fight (I personally go with winter). Pole attacks should use 2x more mp than bows do, have their p.atk reduced in half and then people would have an idea what it's like to be an AoEing OL :P

For AoE parties OLs are toleratable because of seal of winter. For anything else, they're about as useful as getting a 2nd or 3rd bishop in the pt. Similar damage and your buffs/heals will get used just as much, i.e. not at all.
