Will someone please explain the logic behind giving Phantom Rangers higher levels of Sting, but no accompanying higher level dagger masteries? And if they were going to give Sting at all to PR's, wouldn't it make sense for the skill to work with a bow? (Which would be cool when you think about it...kind of like having poison-tipped arrows.) It just seems like a wasted skill for most PR's.
Logic: every de fighter class gets sting, hex, and freezing strike.
Yeah, I know that this is a race-based skill.
But why give higher levels of it if they aren't going to let a PR be able to use it with a bow? AW have daggers, SK and BD have swords...all of those classes, naturally, can use sting without switching from their main weapons. In doing so, these other fighter types emphasize their strength. That would not be the case for a PR switching to a dagger to use Sting.
The more that I think about, the more I'd like to have sting as a ranged, quick, overhit skill. You can use drains, freezing strikes, hex, etc., etc., with your bow. Why not Sting?
If only the developers would try to be more circumspect and consistent. There are far too many wasted skills in this game.
Crit Bleed has been nerfed just as much with all the bleed resists going around. Sting is only useful to SKs, BDs, and AW's in PvE, or as something to hit high evasion people with.

I'll disagree here.
BD's shouldn't use sting in PvE cause they have to dance, if A BD is in a party with a SwS then BD's can't afford the MP to use on it.
Maybe Hex but most mobs dies fast enough with out having to worry about using it, unless your in a tite spot.

A steady pace with a BD, using Sting intermittently shouldn't be that much of a mana drain. I'd say using Sting every 3 or 4 mobs, just as an Overhit. Just to milk some EXP.
EDIT: Though that does remind me. I have a feeling why Sting isn't usable with a bow. Mana cost. Bow skills cost 3 times the mana Sting does, maybe more. Sting would be a virtually mana free way to get a bleed, and with soulshots now properly doubling the damage of skills, possibly even more damage than a normal hit.

I don't think you understand the post.
First of all you can't use sting with a bow.
secondly with armors like IC, and tallum, add boss jewelry on top of that and you'd resist bleeds 100%, cept for nuke bleeds in FoTD.
The problem is that why give phantom ranger Sting if that means having to carry 2 weapons (bow, dagger). And using a Non-grade dagger wont suffice of extra XP cause the dmg is too low on a non grade to make any kind of added bonus worth it.
PR doesn't get any extra dagger masteries, so there is no point for PR to have sting. it's like as if NCsoft is trying to amass more skills to the class, but not thinking through.
In regards to extra XP while hunting, it's not worth the time to switch to a dagger to try and time a O/H. You can get more XP by crting a second mob 2 times and killing it, then waiting on the animation for power shot, or any PR skill. And you'd save the MP to. Also You have to time the mob's HP bar and hope to god that you don't crt if your going to go for O/h's and it's just a waste of time to try, cause of how random crts are.
And if they were going to give Sting at all to PR's, wouldn't it make sense for the skill to work with a bow? (
same thing. both worthless.
The critical bleed SA is worthless. Agree with you there.
But Sting as an overhit skill is not completely worthless. There are practical applications for it. PVE applications primarily, but even with all of the resists out there, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take long for someone to devise a PVP application. (And let's not forget that PVP -- while best at higher levels -- is also done at lower levels where not every armor set has a poison/bleed resist.)
As it stands here we have yet another skill that I'll never learn/use....but is trainable well up to level 75+. That just doesn't make sense to me.
Get a noob dagger and grief people you dont like. Or you could just stop learning the skill and save sp. Everyone gets skills that are not worth the sp. For example, I get dance of protection... GG NC, I always pvp / pve while skydiving.
the only times i used it was when griefing bots, can get them to very low hp without getting karma or pk. but it would be nice if it was a range skill, even if its very low dmg. like a toggle sting, that adds chance to bleed target with arrow shots.
Sting is awesome on PR. Equip your dagger and run to the enemy. Make him bleed and if you are still alive you can get your HP back by using drain health. gf Oo
lol sorry but both sting and drain health are a waste in a true and balanced pvp situation unless your fighting someone 15 levels lower. till you are running up with dagger, you could do several shots and maybe even kill your target, why bother with dagger.
also drain health is not that great dmg, and it gives a very little amount of hp only, not worth using it in pvp as pr.
drain is alright in pve if you use blesseds, it gives nice hp back then and does good dmg, but its only good on 1x hp or 2x hp mobs. its not good in pvp.
