I bought this game yesterday, amiss all my friends trying to convert me to WoW, this looked much more fun to me. So onto my question...while the game was patching, I was watching some of the cinematics. I came across one from C4, with this very awesome looking elf who had twin sword, and used a bow. Here it is:
I just want to know if any of you could tell me what classes she was? The concept instantly caught my eye and...well I want to stride to be like that. (eventually!)
But keep in mind, even though she is [Censored] (edit: well, the moderator didn't like that term... how about "a scrapper" or "tough"?) and Miss "Have Sword will take out my enemies", there is "The Truth :) " and "The Truth  "
Sword Singers seem to be more like party buffers (who are highly valued in parties) but who are not the high damage pvp kings.
Seems like lots of new people are picking up L2 these days, Swords Singers are certainly not a bad class to go for, you should be able to find parties fairly easily as people will want your songs (which temporarily buff the party) and although you won't be a big damage dealer like Sovrath said, you can still have fun with using a variety of weapons to kill stuff :)
From what I read on this forums when this video came out - she is Swordsinger, and then "switched" to subclass Silver Ranger.
You can get your subclass once you hit 75 and do some long and not easy quest for subclassing (includes killing couple or raidbosses and trying to stab epic boss on top of Tower Of Insolence). You can switch to your subclass anytime, though only in town not in the middle of combat :)
I highly recommend that you stop playing your elf right away..I have a b grade SwS that I really hate.. I haven't soloed since lv 25, and on my orc/pw I can solo perfect (both high 50's/60's) If you like 5 mins to kill a mob, go for it..or you can be an orc, and 2 shot them .. and not have to worry about drops/xp cause your all alone.

Just saw the movie again. This is a female elf, wearing a modified version of Imperial Crusader armor (this is heavy armor, modified because its basicly the IC but without the shoulders) using Kesh*Kesh duals. Then she switched the armor to the original IC (shoulders magicly appearing) and changed the weapon to Infinity Bow (Hero weapon, but the weapon nor the elf have the Hero glow). She used some kind of skill I guess and since the arrow exploded I think it was a burst shot.
Its not clear what her original class is since no skills were used, but the burst shot says shes an archer (Hawkeye or silver ranger), but archer dont use IC heavy.
Conclusion: You can play any elf class you might like, since you will never move or look like her, because 1. noone can jump and do with the duals what she did and the armor she used in the beginning isnt ingame and 2. archer dont use her armor and the bow is a) crap (for an archer) and b) extrerme hard to get and just late late late end-game.
If you look at the bow again, you will notice that it does indeed have the glow about it. And I think the reason the Elf herself don't have the glow is just for visual purposes. Everyone knows what a freakin' eyesore a giant glowing elf is =P
Isn't she same elf that was in movie chronicle before? The one who lost her (boy)friend to an orc, then jumped off a cliff holding pair of duals, while singing mid-air?
I'v e grown bored with those soloers. I actually like being 'needed', if you know what I mean. :)
Thanks for the advice and praise everyone! :)
There are a number of "party support" characters in L2, there are damage dealers as you've seen, nukers, tanks, dwarves (who knows what category they fit--dd light?), etc.
Solo from 1-20 should go really fast. You'll be level 10 in a bit over an hour even with starter gear.
With some help from clanmates (academies from larger clans always want recruits) it can be a blur. Generally solo from 1-22 or 24 is faster than grouping. (and boring).
Two things:
If you like roleplaying check out Lionna.
Also you might check L2rpa website for lionna role-playing clans.
So...that whole look is technically impossible since she couldn't use the armor anyways? Sorry for the bump, but I really want to know that first off. :)
I also know she won't move like that...it'd be neat sure but yeah. I just want her to look like that and look overall badass. :)
The first look without the shoulders is impossible because its not ingame. The secound version with the shoulders is possible (Imperial Crusader Armor, Heavy, S grade [lv76+]). However, Elfs using heavy armor would be Temple Knight (Tank) or Sword Singer (assisting DD/party buffer). However, the IC setbonus fits Tanks more, and I dont think a SwS with brain would take a IC set.

If you want to look like that I suggest sword singer. In A grade you can get majestic heavy and use a soul bow. Your songs will make up for lack of archery skills, but still carry a melee weapon. A soul separator with crit and the tsu*sls +4(or better) duels I think work best for SwS class.
Ok, first, Silver Ranger wear light armor, not heavy. So dont think about that any further. As for the SwS, all I can say is, it wouldnt help you as another armors do. And, if you really want the IC, you will most likely need some other things for the later endgame, like bossjewels (even with them, the armor is really crap). Going this way, I suggest you start better now buying adena on ebay and keep them buying every month a few, else it will be not only hard but kind of impossible to get all running.
It wouldnt matter much, since SwS are not front-line troops. We're party-buffers, secondary-tanks, and support fighters. If your party tank is fighting something, get behind it and help. If it's PvP, sing your songs, then find an enemy robe-wearer or archer, root them, and get behind them while someone else hammers on them with skills.
One strength of the SwS is its versatility. We can do what we do in any armour with any weapon. Being Elves, on top of that, fashion > function.
Thats all I really wanted to know. I can still be useful, while still looking kickass, and it won't totally harm my characters effectiveness in PvE. :)
Though I may need a different subclass then the ranger...any suggestions! :)
The armor that elf uses looks many, many times worse in-game than it does in the video. It's one of those things many people try to avoid because it's a statistically strong armor, yet it's so ugly on female elfs that it's still avoided.
But~~ there are actually a number of extremely good looking armors for that race and class. It's just that Imperial Crusader is not one of those!
(and I know it is a matter of opinion but I see a whole lot more saying it looks bad than good)
Trust me dear, it will be a long time coming before you get to the point of subclassing. And the classes change with almost every chronicle, so you will likely change your mind by the time you get there. But if you do get on Lionna, drop a line. I can hook you up with a couple of SwS contacts so you can pick their brains with questions. ^^
