I know this is kind of a lame question since TH and HE are completely different classes but I am still having some hard time deciding between the two. Since I am new to the game I need general information about both of these classes to make my decision.
I need to know their strengths and weaknesses in both pve and pvp. I also need some general info about their ups and downs, expenses, level of fun, etc. (what you can think of)
Please put your own opinions about both TH and HE here, I really don't mind if they are biased. I also want to learn about the classes from the players' side. They both look like fun classes to play, but I really can't choose between them.
TH got a lil nerf atm No might mortal anymore :<
but they are good DD if their skills land they really rule its also a very diverse class but it also depends on luck
HE is ownage they are @ the top of pvp/pve atm they rule but their skills are kind of simple not so many things 2 choose from like TH
but in l2 its distance>>>>melee and TH is melee :< but you wont regret choosing th :)
if you like bows (i do :P) and like 2 win in pvp/pve then choose HE
you like melee daggers and diverse gameplay choose TH
Which one is faster at grinding? Well i thought that I could grind faster with daggers so atm I am using dagger as a rogue. Never actually tried bows a lot. Is it also good to solo with HE?
Both are extremely leathal at high level, HE's just do it from range, BUT(!) they're dependant on almost perfect buffs to own. That means support from level 78 PP/WC, BD, Warlock, SWS.. and better have a set of boss jewels too. People underestimate how much it takes for arcehrs to own badly.
TH however has many tricks up his sleave. He can be leathal with NO buffs, but harder to play and get close enough. Go watch some end game dagger movies, they 1-2 shot everyone if they get behind you.
If you go either TH or HE, you won't lose any significant amount of SP if you learn all 40- skills. Just skill the important skills first. I usually only learn skills at skill level, I take what I want and then go back to grinding. With my SWS I didn' skill 2 skills (charm and heal only to like level 66), I have TONS of SP left over at level 74.
I heard that HE needs a lot of buffs to pwn before too, is that really a big downside for HE? Also I heard that MP is the downside of TH. Is that also true?
I really wanna do pvp as well as pve, so should go with HE? or is TH also as good as HE in pvp?
if you get a lil higher in lv you get a clan and they (if a good clan) they got buffers:) so nah it isnt a big downside since in higher lv you just party for exp anyway
if you grind with TH
if you wanna own in pvp especially in pve then HE is your man not that TH is crap but the rule in l2 is ranged >>>melee sad but true
hmm mana is only importent for skills for TH so for grinindg you should refrain from using skills anyway or else there 2 high lv ^^
but in pvp you do need mana ofc :P but TH mana doesnt totally sux so i wouldnt worry about mana
Wait so if I roll HE, will I be still using daggers from time to time? and use bow as TH? I mean wouldnt it suck using daggers when u have good skillz for bows?
You can use both, a TH is more likely to use a bow than an HE is to use a dagger though. Only reason to use a dagger as an HE is if you have severe MP problems... never happened to me, even with Draconic bow that drain 11mp per shot. Just make sure you got a healer or recharger, or chubb herbs.
Many HE's use dagger until about level 52, because it's easier.. I dunno, I went with Emi CS from level 40.00 back in the old days, no major problems.
You can use both, a TH is more likely to use a bow than an HE is to use a dagger though.
thats a new 1 for me :/
dagger is faster and more cheaper thats why most ppl use dagger till 52 cause c grade is the most ineffecient grade adena wise
so i find it very very strange that you "in the old days " didnt had any prob with mana with out herbs and duel boxing.....
from what i know TH DOESNT use a bow @ all ( dont gimme al those crap like sure they do cause there are DA ppl that get a bow and put BW on ;) iknow i know )
What I meant was, if you misunderstand me correctly, that a TH is more likely at end game to use a bow than an archer is likely to use a dagger. I very rarely see an archer using a dagger, then it's only because there is no recharger or the newb is an SR that doesn't have b2m when we PvE.
A dagger can use a bow VERY well, not as long range and miss a few masteries, but still good enough to justify carrying a bow. I was thinking more PVP wise of course. Also they can join archer parties if they carry a bow and be useful (anyone can do that). Actually MOST good daggers carry a bow for PVP, their level 78 skills (focus death/power) works with bows too from behind :>
Well, me being an old school player didn't have a problem with hunting for 1-2 hours before I needed to rest. 5 mins regenning MP and boom boom again.
c2 CS made each shot on a emi go from like 7mp to 2 mp.
Today its a CHANCE that it takes less mp, many archers felt this back then, however the old cheapshot mean 100% full mp if using only ordinary shots :)
Loved that...
Also in the old days we didnt use shots so frequently... C grade archers used bows then couse a bow with no ss >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a dagger
Especially considering no VR, no Herbs, and kiting.. and many played solo with no boxing buffs...
TH got nerfed in C2 but he got upgraded a lot in C5.
on the other hand, archers in general had a major nerf in Interlude (they nerfed all fighting classes, but in archers the difference is more obvious).
if i was you and start from the beggining, i d definitely go for a mage since all the nerf of mages concerning their uberness over ALL other classes, just kept for one chronicle (C5).
of course its a nerf, have you checked how much longer does it take to kill a raid boss (hi lvl ,70-75+) of an archer group, even with cov and everything?
and you crit 10k on your 40 lvl HE? oO
ppl dont crit 10k, even with epic jewels/cov/dances/songs. can you?
irony is a great thing m8, as long as you use it properly and wisely. be ironic with facts and not assumptions.
Just watched some pvp videos of TH and HE. I think HE has a slower gameplay than TH. I like close combat and lots of skills to chose from. Looking at HE it seems like they are not using skills too often.
But people are still saying that archers are the dominating class atm. If I choose TH i dont wanna get pwned every 2 seconds while pvping. Is there a huge difference between these classes in terms of dmg output? Lets say in pve, would HEs get priority as a DD or do THs also get respect as DDs?
I feel like the play stlye of THs is better for me but I still have these questions in mind.... :S
In normal PvE (as in non 4 HE/WC/WL/BD/SWS groups) archers will always attract aggro and make healers go greyhaired. Although TH and HE pretty much have the same P Def, the lower damage output of a TH makes it less vulnerable in PvE.
Unless you use your skills a lot, you are not a DD pur sang, it takes a bit of time to comprehend what to do to max out your Damage output in PvE without running around with 0 MP after 2 minutes.
i barely notice the nerf on everyday gameplay on my pr, but it's for sure a nerf. Daggers got nerfed the most out of this, their specials not using soulshots, crits reduced, and the main one : evasion nerf because you get hit for 4k damage with stupid double shot.
For me TH is still the funniest class to play from all rogues. It takes far more skills to synchronize in pvp, and leaves much more options on how to kill your target. AKA : don't mess with a dagger or you may welcome the whole cata on your *** ;)
A TH decently played is pretty much godlike in dunjeons.
Talking about bows, at 66 i hit 2.2k patak at 232 crit rate with prophet buffs and a bow, where an sr would get 2.4k and 214 crit rate with exact same setup... As a dagger i crit way harder than SR and have more attack speed than a PR. It's pretty ridiculous. You will do more than fine in PVP AND PVE with a bow.
And yeah i'm a bit biased, maybe I just love 1 hitting mages 10 levels ahead of me with a +3 soulsep and hearing them shout to pick on ppl of my own level :)
You can argue that TH takes more skill to play, they certainly do have alot of skills to use and it's not easy to get close to people even when Dashing in at end-game. Daggers are close courter assassins, they come fast and stab you in the butt, and they will hurt, just as much as an archer crit at end game (levle 78). Your main targets are archers, healers and nukers, stay away from tanks.
HE's are archers, they're a bit slow but a bit more durable than a TH and the range is it's own defense. Not many skills to use really, but that doesn't mean they have weak skills. Just spamming Double shot, stun shot and Leathal shot does very nice damage, but the reason you don't see archers use many skills in PVP is because if you look at the fights, it's often full buffed and/or they have boss jewels that make the crits hurt alot. Archers aren't so dependant on MP either when just shooting. Tactic for an archer is to stay behind the lines, and rain fire. Good archers use high ground to their advantage when possible, makes a huge difference in accuracy and evasion.
I chose HE because I liked the range and the fact that they're not as weak (defensively) as robes. Also, human female fighters look the best ^^ IMO PR's are the best archers though, high power and speed.
