Please can someone explain briefly how these work.
I have an alt Warlock who has just reached the level to use them. I summoned the Storm Cubic but it did not appear to do anything whilst I was fighting.
I don't know much about cubics and wasn't sure if it is something subtle I'm missing, I'm not using it properly or there is another explaination.
Thanks in advance (yes I'm still a noob sometimes :D)
I have a SK who also uses cubics, the cubics work whenever they desire to. What you can only do is summon them and attack a target with your summon or your own weapon. If the cubic chooses to do so, it will attack the target on its own. Even if you cast a debuff on the target the cubic may attack. You only have to cast an aggresive spell or physically attack the target.
There have been times that the cubics have done nothing and times that all three SK cubics attacked at once and then attacked again, it is random I think :)
Ok so if I understand correctly, I summon it and it does what it pleases. If that's correct that will explain why it appeared to do nothing. I did have one occurance of hitting something once and it dying (wasn't a magic crit and I can't 1 shot what I'm currently fighting). I guessed the cubic may have done something but as it didn't happen again I thought I was mistaken.
I like the idea that it does what it wants to be honest, a bit of randomness :D
I have a DE tank with a cubic now. I notice that if I am killing too fast, then it does look like it is doing nothing. When I swich to a mop that takes some work, then you can see the thing hit.
It is not consistant at all, but it does hit.
attack cubics like the storm cubic attack only on agressive actions of the player, like hitting directly, casting debuffs and hate. While support cubics have a random casttime and heal/support by their will
They attack when you do, spell, swing, whatever they will follow up... storm cubic will (wind) nuke for tiny chunks of damage every so often. Note, this damage is delayed by a cast time (which is annoyingly long).
The first few ranks of storm cubic aren't worth the crystals.
If you are 4x, unless you just want to play with it, don't bother... When you hit 52 or so, give it another shot and you will still find it pitiful, but your nukes are trailing off, so it might actually help a little.
At 6x, your nukes are really trailing off, so any damage your warlock can do helps... but since your melee will far outstrip the cubic, it will really only help on the melee-resistant mobs that you should be avoiding anyway.
Overall, I'd say the storm cubic is usually a bad investment unless you are 1v1 PvPing someone. The storm cubic needs a tuneup in the worst way... at least lowering the crystal costs to account for its actual damage output. (When soulshots are a MUCH better choice, you know its just not right...)
Note that your binding cubic is just plain incredible in PvP...
(also gets better as the rank is higher)
The cubics don't activate unless you yourself are hitting the mob. If you are letting the servitor do all the work then don't bother with the cubics. Don't use the storm cubic as it won't really help all that much, do use the binding cubic as it is your best friend next to your Cat. When it lands it's @30 seconds of paralysis on your target and there are times when that will save your life. Again though, if you are letting the Cat do all the work, then you don't really need the cubics at all.
I don't advise letting the Cat do all the work depending on the mobs you are fighting. Even if you don't use SS for yourself, you will still be putting out some damage, plus if you do have the Binding cubic up, it will activate and freeze your target. This cuts down on damage which cuts down on healing which cuts down on MP useage. One of the things I like to do if Kai pulls more than one mob (aggro), I will start hitting the second mob while Kai continues to work on the first one. Many times by the time Kai has killed the first mob, I have the second one para'd and we kill it without taking further damage. One of the advantages we have is that Kai hits so hard that when he gets aggro, he will normally hold it even if I start hitting that second mob, it stays on Kai. This is nice as it means I don't take much damage myself.
