Why'd they change it? I liked the fact of dropping stuff when we died (ofc not while it was in effect), getting the death penalty is stupid cause you go pay 100k and you have enough scrolls for atleast a couple deaths.. the will to kill farmers is pointless..aswell as pking..except to maybe make the other guy lose xp while you die yours of and b-rez yourself xD..so what was ncsoft thinking? Maybe if someone drops thier OEd A grade they might quit the game? Maybe..by defeats the whole purpose of lineage2 pvp/pk system where anyone can attack and kill another player anywhere..whats the point without dropping stuff?
Thx to whats his face for posting this so I could repeat it in my own post xD
Perhaps it's NCSoft's capitulation that in-game items do indeed have r/l value?
Yes, I agree it sucks, if for no other reason than it takes away one form of retribution. But then again, they probably were trying to aid the victims of griefing more than anything else.
if you feel let down just drop an item out of your inventory every time you die
Rofl!! :)
If someone feels dissapointed on "drop on death", makes me think that they were never got trained by untagged Dagger-BH users while xping in places with full aggro mobs.
Die there and then drop your weapon and then see the trainer picking up the loot of his train. Then think of how much time and effort took you to craft the weapon and simple log out and go to sleep...
Since the moment they removed the "Drop uppon death" the trainers has stopped trainig "played chars".
Cant drop a weapon that is equipped, but all those classes that need multiple weapons.... *shivers*.
C3/C4 A-grade helmets were a big loss too.
Yes they were :)
I usually go xp with blunt and pole in inv... once I dropped My AOBA +5 Haste (my first oe that cost half of my life that moment) when I was poling because I got trained.
Thank god someone from my party picked it up and didnt dropped it when he died :S
Guts, Battleroar and a few pots kept me alive thru many trains. Long enough to pick all dropped items from party members and then bsoe. Now Bsoe is just to avoid exp loss.
Yeah..I'd hate being trained aswell..(my old main was a PW, not being in a cata I've almost never been trained) but ruins the reality of the game..and puts a point to bsoe's worth
I had a bounty hunter train me once. (I'm a freaking dagger! Who trains a dagger?!?)
I fake death RIGHT before he does. The mobs lose all aggro.
He gets up and runs off deeper into the cata. I pull the train with me after him, fake death while he's AoEing and he droppes his NM light ^-^
xD I'd never gotten anything worthwhile from training people.. Never liked the catas..always heard horror storys, so I stayed away ^^ but now as an orc, I can litterally ONLY xp there..if I wanna level within 3-5 hours.
the nice thing about trains on an orc is (so long as its ready) guts or frenzy and a halfway decent healer and you can survive most any non stunning train.
why bother trying to get the dagger out w/ that many mobs? forget reuse time for those 10 minutes, 1st objective: survive 2nd: kill all mobs 3rd. repeat as fast as possible
edit: 3rd objective easily sacrificed at the sake of not having to return to town or wait for a rez :p

I got the dagger out before 30% just so the animations were faster. I went from 30% hp->0 in under a sec :/
even though we are way off on a tangent atm tok, dps from a pole on multi mobs w/ VR to a single target C dagger w/o shots would certainly drop your hp fast. I'm not sayin you would have survived, but keepin the pole out keep attacking when it blinks at under 30% pop frenzy or guts resume attacking and if necessary use an elixer (or at least a ghp) while the animation is going
lvl 80 pet + reflect damage + boss which gives raid curse (fossilize) to pet. Boss hits pet, pet reflects lots of damage, boss kills himself. I'm glad this no longer works, was super cheesy...
I do hate the new Death Penalty system. Makes being Perma-Red very, very expencive.
Although now that Weapons can be augmented, my PKer loves the new Undroppable Bow. Can never compare a C+ grade Bow to NoGrade for PK'ing :p
Enjoy it while you can. It is clear to me that Augmentation was not intended for such use. I believe augmented weapons will soon not be usable by chaotic characters.
What would you propose when someone has to PK someone on their main toon, be it for revenge or clan who won't go for a 2 side war?
Are you say NC soft should screw over all the people who augment their weapons? Legitimate PK's happen all the time.
It would be real bad if your S grader PK's someone and will then be condemned to either loose xp or spend money on Brez to wash karma.
So it making Augmented weapons off limits to Chaotic players would much more hurt the General public than the few full time PK'ers that are still around.
They might as well Void the whole PK/Karma system if they restrict augmentation to Chaotic players, don't you agree?

This doesn't make any sense. The only time you ARE capable of dropping a weapon is during a pk. The ONLY reason to add undroppable weapons is to prevent it. It is possible that they will implement an UPPER pk limit for augmented weapons perhaps. This would be a great change to the perma red lvl 70s killing C graders. However, if you're in a clan war over 5 pks, this is the entire point of the augment.
