Going to be a Warlock

Player Questions Started Last reply 36 posts
Well i am lvl 37 almost 38 and i want to make myself a warlock. I am reading on the forums things about warlocks but i really don't understand some of them . I have some questions:
1.Many peopel say that the warlock is the most funny class to play and the best solo and is very wanted in partys because he has some nice buffs for archer . Good u got it all. But why are there so rare ? On the forums i know for now like only 7 of them and i am in a clan with 70 peopel and has ony 1 warlock and i am the secone. What is the reason ?
2. Most peopel say that u must buy demon set c grade . I understand that it gives u 4+ int but to sacrafice lot of life and -1 wit ? Why isn't the karmian set more better ? gives u a very good casting speed and raises u P.def and is more cheap .
3. When should i summon my sommons ? like in what situations should i summon each summon ?
4. I understand that summons eats lot of crystals but i dont think u need the top grade weps and armors . Why many peopel are saying that is a very expensive class ?
I am waiting for replays and thanks for the help !
Go Necro instead. You get to be a summoner and you get to nuke.... Best of both worlds there.
Yeah but i don't like to have a char that everybody has and has it all and just is a killing machine . It is just not fun to say one necro at 10 players . Anyway u got more cool summons and buffs abd other stuff so i remain at my WK thanks ! :)
The thing is most people don't do warlocks becouse on mass pvp we hardly do anything else then keep queen of cat up and buffing archers on some party. The solo party is good for all summoner, and if you wanna go warlock understand that on 56+ you will pbb be on someone's party only sitted and buffing every x secs. Not an really active thing to do you know...
People use to get bored, and even if it is easy to lvl you will discover that kai is good but really expensive, even more if you will use beast ss. That is why warlocks are rare.
For one, no dont go Necro :X Go Necro if you dont have a clan and dont really want to party with anyone, otherwise, go Warlock.. your clan will love you. (Sub Necro, most people do, its fastest leveling to get to Noble)

1) There are alot of Warlocks really. Every PVP type clan has at least 2 or 3. They fill a very niche type roll so it dosent help to have multiples of them which does limit their number a bit.

2) You dont have to go Robes at all. You wont be doing much casting during C grade (perhaps early, but thats it). You could go Plated Leather and maximize damage output, or Theca and tank a bit for your summons, whatever.

3) Always. You'll mostly be working with your -10% summons. Once you get Queen the Cat, you'll mostly be working with her in party type situations.

4) Best Shots + Soul Shots + Spirit Shots = Ouch. That is of course a "fastest leveling" situation. You also do need top weapons to help your pet DD it up.

Summoners tend to be harder to level. Your nukes are not very strong. You can solo insane areas, but your cat will be eating up a portion of your xp. If you have a group of players that you play with, then you shouldnt have too much trouble leveling.

2. Most peopel say that u must buy demon set c grade . I understand that it gives u 4+ int but to sacrafice lot of life and -1 wit ? Why isn't the karmian set more better ? gives u a very good casting speed and raises u P.def and is more cheap .

Demon set will help with your debuffs landing. At lower levels you can also do nearly as much damage as a normal nuker. Karmian is also a good set.

3. When should i summon my sommons ? like in what situations should i summon each summon ?

kat the cat is not worth much... dont even bother.

kai the cat is for solo leveling. He does pretty good dmg and can tank fairly well.

mew the cat is for pvp. DO NOT TRY TO LVL WITH THIS CAT. it takes 90% of your xp but only costs 1 D crystal. You can use this cat for farming though.

queen cat is for partys. The buffs help increase the dmg output of other party members.

If you dont use top gear on your summoner then I guess it would all work out in the end.
The point is you will need quite some money if you whant to go to fast till the easy lvling of queen of cat (lvl 56 actually), just shout in catas that you will pbb find a party.
It's expensive? Yeah i'm a warlock 47 in Franz (not my first one, i rerooled from another server) and i'm eating my friends mills (help a lot have a warmith high lvl friend). I did that lvl in 2 weeks, and using kai most of the time after lvl 44, kai in lvl 40 sux once you has no attack speed buff for it, and your nuke is pretty good to you go till 44 easy. After 44 i started to do a mix of nuke and lett kai hitt half of mobs hp. Your could also go for the malee style, but i don't like it much. For that you need some nice duals and ss.
Demon Set will help you in C Grade because the fastes way to level until level 48 is to nuke your way there (with lvl 35 Blaze). I guess some people will argue that the cast speed on Karmian in better. I personally did 40-46 with a Karmian Set using Blaze and then switched to Demon Set to do 47-52 since I was then lvling on higher level mobs.

You could probably level really fast during 40-47 with Kat the Cat, if you can afford to. Go to IT crater and kill Gargoyles (Manashen) and Monstereyes with 2 shots while Kat kills the Golems (Enchanted Stone and Iron) concurrently and you will level up about 15-20% faster as he will gain you more XP than he is actually taking from you (the mobs he kills is are high XP and normally you wouldn't mess with them cause they are 4+ shot mobs for less than 2x HP compared to the others). Kat can recharge you when you run Low on MP - so infinite uptime for you (unless you have an SE bot, then you could use a 15% summon and get a nice boost from doing it this way). Do IT Crator cause the quest there that you can do from 40 to 47 is really good at making you cash.

You can solo Alligator Island at a lower level than a nuker would try (I couldn't two shot those until level 49 or so with a +10 Homu, Demon Set, and +4 INT tat) due to your servitor.

You can counter the -1 WIT on Demon Set with a +4 WIT Tatoo.

Warlock is fun, but rarely played. Lots of people don't like the 2-in-1 playstyle of summoners :) If you were in a clan with a few archers, they'd probably be begging you and offering free PLs for you to go WK :)
The main thing about warlocks is they are a TRUE solo class. With half-decent equipment (don't even need +s) you can solo pinks and dark reds nonstop for many levels, well after most meleers switched to green and dark blue mobs. And by TRUE solo, I mean you don't need a 74 SE to keep you going. Just you, some crystals and your kat.

In solo I'm a big fan of kat the cat - his recharge will keep you at full mp and you can kill pretty much anything nonstop. All you really need are some crystals to summon your kat and you're all set. It doesn't take very long before your kat will outdamage ss-spamming meleers, and if you want to level even faster you can spam beast ss ontop of that.

The reason people don't usually go warlock is because well-buffed FotM classes will level faster. Although a solo warlock will level faster than a necro, a necro + se will level much faster than a warlock + se. And in general FotM people already have at least one 74 buffer they can use.

In PvP / sieges / Raids / etc your role will be to keep your queen's buff up and that's about it. Which is also not very interesting for FotM people: they wanna be the ones doing the damage themselves.

So it's a great class, but not a class that FotM people will be interested in, that's why you won't see very many of them.
Warlocks and summoners in general really, can be very expensive to play. In fact, a Warlock being played at full potential is probably the most expensive class to play bar none. Why? C crystals, D crystal, Beast SS and SS for your self along with Blesses sps for yourself to increase the heals to your cat along with the casting speed for those heals. Many people will tell you what you have to do or what armor/weapons you have to have to play a Warlock. Don't listen to them. Why? Summoners in general are a very versatile class and can be played many different ways. It all depends on what you want to do. If you want to level super fast, you can, but it's going to cost you a lot in supplies. You want to do it fairly cheap, it's going to cost you in leveling time.

So, I'm not going to tell you what to do. What I will do is tell you some things I did.

Yes, it's true that for the first 4 levels you are probably better off using the cat to attack first and then nuke the mob once the cat has his attention. I did just that myself. I did use the Demon set and a Homu with acumen. Once I got past 44 and started getting some of the buffs for the cat I changed things around. By 47-48 I was wearing Plated leather half the time, depending on how I felt. I like the increase in Str, no matter what the stats say, you still put out damage with your sword and any extra damage is a good thing. Some times I used shots, sometimes I didn't. I can tell you that I used shots all the time on the cat. It adds to the cost but nicely increases the leveling speed. Also, when I did solo, which was not much. I picked places where the pots droped. Though at that time the pots didn't tranfer to the cat, they helped me a bit since I would still take some damage. I kept using the Homu with acumen though, I found that I could do fair damage but the main thing was that when something went wrong I still had a decent casting speed for my heals. In parties I would switch back to my robes a lot because even my 200 HP battle heal came in handy from time to time.

B grade. Once I got there I switched full time to BW LA, my personal feelings is that this armor set offers the most to the summoner, saying nothing of the fact that it has a 15% casting speed bonus on it. Some people like the Doom set. I never did get around to testing it though. I still carried a acumen weapon, it worked well with my style of fighting. By this time Kai was strong enough to tank for me all the time, and I even tanked for parties from time to time. I will suggest that you consider a weapon with Health SA as well, many Warlocks have used the AOBA w/health. Again, personal preference and fighting style will dictate this for you.

Now I'll tell you part that is going to get me in trouble so here it goes.

Once I got the skill Summon Friend, I started wearing robes for certain types of parties, telling you this means that Physics4ever is now going to hire someone on my server to PK me. Since it is his firm belief that once you hit B grade you never wear robes again! I do it so that I have faster casting, again because there are times when my battle heal has saved the day. There are also times when Queen manages to get the attention of several mobs and I have to be able to do some fast healing and casting for cat UD. You see it's mostly the parties I get where they want me to use Queen's crit buff that I wear robes, though I have on occasion switch to my DC LA. Speaking of that, ok, lets talk about A grade.

You have a lot of choices here, many of which will be based on your fighting style and the party types you get into. Many people do not know that a Warlock can be an excellent tank for a party. At this time, I tank for parties quite often in Pagans and Imperial tomb. So don't let anyone tell you that you can't tank. I have several friends that prefer to have me as the tank instead of normal tanks classes. Healers love it when I tank since they don't have to heal me much and I take care of healing the cat! That being said lets talk armor and weapons. I have both Dark Crystal LA/Robes (yes robes, for Queen parties) set and a Nightmare LA set. Well, I also have a borrowed set of Majestic LA but I don't really like it all that much. It's only true advantage that I see is the extra weight capacity and that's not enough to make me give up either of the other 2 LA armor sets. I like the DC LA for the patk and atk speed bonus. The more often you swing your weapon the more often the cubic will go off. (I didn't forget the cubics, just didn't get to them yet). For soloing I also like the NM LA for the built in VR in the set bonus, though I don't really take too much damage thanks to Kai. As for my weapons, well I use a SOM w/acumen that I took off my retired SPS. I don't have any other A grade wep to use and not sure I would switch if I did. I still do a little damage and I still have the casting speed bonus, which I think is important when I'm wearing LA. I know an Arcana Lord that carries a AOBA w/health, but then it's also +16 so I guess he hits fairly hard with it.

Duals > tried them, didn't like them. I missed to often and took damage that I later found was reduced somewhat when I switch to sword with shield.

Cubics
Binding cubic = your best friend next to your cats. Any time you can afford to have it up, do it. It has saved my life countless times. It is devastating in PvP when it lands. I always have it up, especaily when I solo. You will decide the best times for you to use it.

Storm Cubic = not so much. It is not that powerful and won't hit that hard unless you are up against mobs with a weakness to wind attacks. I use it but not often. Like I said Mob dependent really IMO.

Mass Storm Cubic = pretty much the same thing as I said about storm. Depends on the party as to weather on not it's worth it. Besides, it's dammed expensive. I don't know why but our Mass cubic costs more than twice the crystals of the other 2 summoner classes. Maybe it's because it's a pure damage cubic. The other 2 get debuff and DOT (though my personal opinion is the the PS get the best mass cubic of us all) while ours hits for damage every time it goes off. Casting speed for the attack is a bit slow and really the only times I've used it was in certain melee parties and in the Rift when we get the boss room. It may not hit for much but in that case it's coming from 7 players or more (healers like to hit the boss too) so over time the damage does add up.

My best advice to you is......Let your own fighting style develope as you level, try several different setups and maybe get some friends to help with equipment for those setups. If you do this, by the time your half way through B grade you will know exactly what weapons and armor you are going to want when you get to A grade. It will come to you as naturally as breathing.

I love my Warlock and don't want to play any thing else. Even though I have many toons spread across 4 accounts, my lock is the one I want to play every time I log in.

OMG! I just realized how big this post is and there is still so much more to say. But maybe that's the point. Summoners can be played, successfully, so many different ways. It will be you yourself that finds the best way to play yours.

I apologize for the huge size of this post but for some reason I had a sudden urge to say all these things to you. It felt really important for some reason....wonder if Physics would know why....he's been a summoner far longer than I have.....
i know why - and i am a mere lowbie summoner;

we are truly the most flexible class to play with. we are also the most versatile class to play in the game.

dont mistake the two; flexibility and versatility are two different things when you want them to be.

flexible in respect to gear - really it doesnt matter much. gear that makes you look good can function just as good as armor or weapons worn for their statistical qualities. after all, its the summon doing the majority of the work.

versatile in respect to the endless abilities and uses each summon CAN have in any situation. whats best is always different. as a PS - my nightshade is a far more useful summon to me than my soulless at times.

for those two reasons you really always get confused and scared when new skills/levels/gear choices are available. where many classes really rely on one particular weapon and stick to it, summoners really dont care. dont need to care. our weaponry is mostly crystal based anyway - our summons do the gruntwork when we let it and when we choose not to let it.

Warlocks are a SUPPORT class who can solo very well.

Support classes are indirect classes and tougher to play. You don't just double click (archer) or hit F1/F2 (mage/dagger). You need to manage a pet and its abilities and heal/buff it for best effect.

Also, your role in higher end parties is not creating big damage numbers... you buff a party and keep them buffed and add whatever else you can to that party...

On your own, you deal lots of damage and indeed in some parties you are better off with Kai than you are Queen.

Direct Damage classes do not have to worry about this... in ANY party, solo, or situation they always try creating large damage numbers.

Warlocks who play their class well are much more difficult than direct damage dealers and thus are FAR more rare.

2. Most peopel say that u must buy demon set c grade . I understand that it gives u 4+ int but to sacrafice lot of life and -1 wit ? Why isn't the karmian set more better ? gives u a very good casting speed and raises u P.def and is more cheap .

From 40 to 5x, the fastest method (but not the only method) to level is as a nuker.
Demon helps your lower-level nuke (Blaze) two-nuke mobs in more places and opens up your choices for this type of advancement. You don't NEED it, its just more convenient.

3. When should i summon my sommons ? like in what situations should i summon each summon ?

Kat = Mana recharge/melee summon. (takes 30% XP)
He is useful in your early years 20-5x as an augment to your nuking. Nuke until you run out of mana then summon Kat and have him recharge you and then send him to kill between recharges. Dismiss him when your mana is full (or his is empty) for best effect. Using him effectively before 5x will massively reduce downtime. He also has a use in a smaller party when you require a tank and need more mana to heal him.
(you really should go elsewhere, as the XP isn't as good as it shoudl be, but sometimes you want to hold a room... Kat can help you hold a room you shouldn't be otherwise.)

Mew is the PvP pet with a Direct-damage nuke.
(takes 90% xp)
She is useful in PvP due to her cheap cost and effective nukes giving her more range and options in PvP than your other pets. She doesn't hit as hard as Kai in melee, but her nuke is infinitely more useful under those situations.
Some people use Mew to farm adena with... (she is the cheapest summon)

Kai is your melee specialist with the best Patk values and a (very bad) Damage reflect special (takes 10% XP)
He is best used for most Solo XP grinds and is your most basic summon when Queen is not out. He does everything (including PvP) with solid performance due to his melee attack scores. If you don't have a reason to use another pet, you summon Kai.

Queen Cat - party buffer (takes 5% XP)
She is best used in larger melee parties... most trios and duos you are better off with Kai. Most likely pet you will summon in Mass PvP with a party full of archers. This pet gets you in the best groups in game.

King Kat
New summon for Interlude... no experience using it.
Supposedly has a "power attack" type attack, a "Whirlwind" type AoE melee attack, and an AoE root.
Very expensive (A crystals) but is supposed to be the most powerful Melee pet in the game.
I think most warlocks would use him any time they could afford him.

4. I understand that summons eats lot of crystals but i dont think u need the top grade weps and armors . Why many peopel are saying that is a very expensive class ?
I am waiting for replays and thanks for the help !

It is expensive it you blow everything... but frankly you only need pet Soulshots and bsps. Keep soulshots for yourself for emergencies, but don't use them normally, and don't bother with cubics unless the room requires it.
Grab yourself a mysterious sword (low D grade) with acumen for normal play. (x2 C bsps rating = 200ish adena per fast heal)

I loved the Hell Knife with Mental Shield on it for buffing the pet and landing debuffs/activating cubics if you require that.

You will want BW light for PvE and DC robes for PvP... S grade armor and robes dont' seem useful to me.

Figure at C grade you save 7 mil on not needing a top-grade C weapon...

At B grade, you buy a low B weapon and save 20-30 mil.

At A grade you skip A grade weapons entirely or just get the low A to save no less than 50 mil.

At S grade, you will be PvPing and want the best... your savings melt away... but hey so does everyone else's.

Warlocks are a SUPPORT class who can solo very well.

Warlocks were NEVER support classes till they added Queen. I feel sorry for true at heart summoners who are now being thought of like "buff[Censored]".

Before Queen, Warlocks werent ... well.. anything.

At least they now have a role to play. Where as before it was nothing.

I mean, I still shake my head when I think of people rolling up Summoners to be solo'ers the entire game. Go play a single player game for god sakes then.
Warlocks always had their role as the BEST greifing class in the game.

There is not a single thing wrong with Warlocks becoming a support class... they can still dish and solo and even PvP very well.

They have the CHOICE to support, and wise ones will do so...

The brighter ones will know when to support and when it is altogether better to simply summon Kai or Mew and own some people.

Remember, unlike most of this game's support classes, Warlocks have a choice.

Don't like how I run my warlock?
Fine... I'll go solo and you can lump it...

How many of the support classes truly have that option?
You can actually turn that around to. What damage class has the option to switch to a support role the way we do?

I have to admit that I don't really mind getting some of those "support" role parties. It's one of the ways that I make extra adena, since I use very little in the way of supplies in that role. Most of the adena I pick up in those parties I get to keep. At the same time I am lucky in that I have had the chance to work with enough people long enough for them to learn more about my abilities.

This is how they discovered that I could be a tank for the party instead of a support player. Of course I had to push it a little bit at first.

"Hey let me pull out my attack cat for a little while ok?" Then after about half a buff round, when they saw that Kai was getting to the mobs first, getting and holding aggro, party damage and healer mp usage was going down, all of a sudden I find myself being dropped to the bottom of the party and they say "why don't you tank for a bit?" So I say ok, and end up being the tank for the rest of the night. Only problem I ran into was running out of supplies, but that's no problem with Summon Friend, one of them goes back to town and gets my supplies, I even offer to pay for the summon crystal they use to get back. Most of the time, they refuse to take the money for the crystal and we go back to work.

My best so far? Tanking the L room in Imperial tomb for 7 hours straight! Great party too, we had a Fortune Seeker and he was spoiling some mad mats for us. We even left all the drops on the ground, only picked up the adena, that way everyone in the party got spoils, no skips. Then we would get the vacuum cleaner out every once in a while and sweep the floor, then do it again. Ok granted I spent a lot of adena in supplies that day. I didn't care, I had way too much fun.
THX guys for the info ! I can't wait to do the quest and become a Warlock . Only one question i have . Warlocks are anti tank and anti dwarf or they can kill all exept of necro, healer and buffer ? :)
Very nice info!

15.5% to my next sub weeee
well summoners could pretty much destroy any class in there path (not in mass pvp tho ) hence why erase was added cause summoners where just to strong when it came to Olympiad .

theres not many ways to beat a summoner when it comes to small pvp cause it can pretty much out heal the damage and it also has ultimate defense for its summons, transfer pain, summon buffs including buffs = to prophecy's at high lvls.

and its also very hard to land mental attacks on summoners with half decent mdef making them hard to silence /sleep .

oooh and they can also cure all most every thing you do to there summon as in stuff like ( slow, anchor, root, wind shackle, hamstring, hamstring shot)
so over all as a summoner they can be allot more then some 1's buff buddy as in they can pvp very well in smaller scale pvp
until there summon gets erased.

But then again in smaller scale pvp it wont happen to often cause allot of people wont waste or have the spirit ore on them to cast it ^.^
Before queen, summoners were...
- Excellent 1v1 PvPers (but not overpowered enough to justify something like Erase, due to lack of pet SS)
- The best, but not the fastest soloers in the game (still holds true)
- Great griefers (ruined/fixed or however you want to see it now).

Warlocks still aren't a support class. They're an incomplete DD which is not getting fixed because it is also capable of supporting, that's all there is to it.

Queen makes ZERO sense with the warlock set. Why do we have some of the best point heals in the game for our servitors if it doesn't matter when our servitors die (Queen gone? No bother), why do we have UD for them if they won't get attacked, why do we have haste 2 if they can't do damage, etc.?

No, the whole skillset is designed towards Kat/Kai/Mew and soon probably King. Queen is an idiotic slip-up that has hurt the class more than it helped.
.. so remove the queen? :p

I see it more as an addition to their already good set of skills.
queen gives them something useful for mass pvp witch they lacked so now they can actually do something besides just another target on the field they shined at small scale pvp and where horrible at mass pvp
I have to say that I disagree with you on this one. The addition of Queen has gotten me invites to parties that I would never have been invited to before. The crit buff she casts is much loved by the melee classes, archer/dagger in particular. If there is anything about Queen that irritates me it's that no sooner do I get her to the level where her cure can actually remove some debuffs (slow, weakness, accuracy) the developers then add levels of those debuffs to the game that she can't touch! I can't do anything about the level 10 debuffs that you get hit with in MOS and some places in Imperial Tomb. I have to admit that is a little more than frustrating.

In 1v1 PvP Summoners, the Warlock especially, can take almost any class they face that's around their level. In mass PvP we pretty much suck. I can live with that I think. If the Binding cubic lands in PvP there is not a class in that game I can't kill before it wears off, but it has to land, otherewise there are a few classes that will kick my butt.

To the OP and others that are going to become summoners. There is one thing that we can do that other classes can't. Even though we don't hit all that had, we can attack in 2 places at the same time. We do not have to attack the same mob, or player, that the servitor is attacking. Remember that! Right now my record for paralized mobs in an aggro situation is 3. While Kai was killing the first mob I started hitting the next one to try and get the cubic to fire. I don't expect to see 3 mobs para'd too often since Kai normally kills the one he's on before I can get 2 para'd, but it did happen that one time!

Before queen, summoners were...
- Excellent 1v1 PvPers (but not overpowered enough to justify something like Erase, due to lack of pet SS)
- The best, but not the fastest soloers in the game (still holds true)

Guess I'll agree to disagree with you.

This isnt a 1 vs 1 game, so no matter how they do 1 vs 1 is indiffrent. Not to mention they still got/get completely dominated by Necro's, so anyone wanting to go that route would pick a Necro not a Warlock.

The best is defined in ones mind as well. They are the most expensive class to level (bar none), require the most exp to level (bar none), and are typically the easiest class to train (bar none). The Hate Aura of the summons does that fairly simply.

I dont think I'd actually brag about being a Griefer either, but to each his/her own I guess.

Summoners arent DD's. Thats not what they are. Their pets might be classified as such (although honestly the damage is barely above a tank), but a Summoner is nothing more then a Healer/Buffer. Thats what they've always been... and they'll always be that way. Your a buff-[censored] for your cats, get use to it.

Now that you've got a buff that helps other people its all whining, my god you may actually be usefull to others and have to play a MMORPG, heaven freaking forbid.
you won't regret it at all... fastest way to go form 40-48 is go as a nuker... after that you can break your cat all the time, and choice of equipment and weapons and play style is up to you. try out melee, tank, healer. what i did was wear demon set, homu with acumen, didn't use any SS at all (still don't), all i carried was Cbsps and tons on beast shots. I have the binding cubic out all the time for crowd control, i just wack the mobs till it goes off, or i use like surrender to fire (really cheap mp wise and fast cast) to draw mobs in so my cat doesn't have to run around too much. it's a great class... enjoy!
Yes, you are in those groups. But you are not playing your class, you are playing your servitor - a tremendous and saddening difference for anyone who made their summoner in C3 or before.

Not to mention they still got/get completely dominated by Necro's, so anyone wanting to go that route would pick a Necro not a Warlock

Right, SO scared of necros. ¬_¬: Maybe if para or silence land. Maybe.

Yeah, because they dont have everything a summoner has... Transfer Pain, a strong Summons, Anchor (Binding at least), Curse Gloom (PS), etc...

Plus Fear, Death Spike, Vamp Claw, etc.

Hell, I'd give a Necro absolutely no CP and he'd still rip you to shreds in about 7 seconds flat.

They (summoners) are the most expensive class to level (bar none).

False... a summoner can be expensive or cheap, depending on how fast you want to level and if you are grouped or not.

A warlock in an archer party does not spend much at all as their benefit is the buff and queenie and the summoner's damage output are a joke in comparison. Yup this is buffer mode... and its an option. Sometimes its nice to get groups and just chat and hit the buff button. Sometimes its nice to kick some tail. The warlock gets a choice.

Take on light green/white and you have no need of anything but crystals, pet soulshots, and a few Bsps. Given the fact you don't need the best equipment, this leaves you quite a bit of pocket change to play with. Note a warlock can take full rooms of 4x mobs all by themselves and not really spend that much money in comparison. (keep in mind, an a-grade nuker would spend 3200+ adena for a single kill!)

require the most exp to level (bar none).

The most XP? Hello? XP = time, warlocks have almost ZERO downtime if played competently, and ZERO downtime if played expertly. Solo or grouped, Warlock is among the fastest ways to 75 overall. Sure you need more kills to account for the XP penalty, but zero downtime + fast kills + 4x mobs usually does the trick.

and are typically the easiest class to train (bar none). The Hate Aura of the summons does that fairly simply.

Easiest to train effectively?
(I will concede that its the easiest to get mobs you pull on Kai...)
Kai can and does derail trains given his damage output and UD. The last couple times I was trained I killed both the whole train AND the guy who brought the train. (thanks binding cubic) Ya, sometimes you lose on this one, but even when you do, you just UD Kai and run away. Very few classes have this kind of survivability.

Warlocks are not invulnerable... but many other classes are a LOT worse off.

Summoners arent DD's. Thats not what they are. Their pets might be classified as such (although honestly the damage is barely above a tank), but a Summoner is nothing more then a Healer/Buffer. Thats what they've always been... and they'll always be that way.

If you think Kai isn't a damage dealer, you are on some pretty loopy stuff.
They nerfed him in PvP for a reason.

Kai is no buffed archer or Dagger, but he is significantly above any tank.
Note that Kai is quite potent with ONLY the summoner's buffs...

There is no way you can watch Kai eat a 4x mob for breakfast and then think he isn't a damage dealer... especially considering that's only servitor buffs.
Warlock is at LEAST an even fight for a necro.

If no one-hit wins land (silence/doom/para/para cubic)
Necro = slow nuker without transfer pain vs a warlock.

Necros are powerful in any kind of PvP... but a warlock has all the right tools to turn the tables.
Ok so the summoners can kill almost anyone but sucks in mass pvp . That's ok i can get this hit as long as i know i am a good chalenge for a necro 1vs1 . :)
Warlocks don't suck in mass pvp, their role just changes to buffer and they add crit rate / crit damage to archers, which will enable them to do 2-hit kills more often.

That'd be like saying WCs, BDs and SdSs suck in mass PvP because all they do is buff while their own damage isn't really significant.

As for being expensive, you have the choice of leveling cheapest of all classes (only use crystals to summon your pet, no ss, no beast ss, no cubic) and still outdamage most classes. A 2k p.atk summon who doesn't use SS will still outdamage a gladi who spams his SS. And the gladi won't have unlimited hp thanks to servitor heal + master recharge.

One role that wasn't talked much either is the perpetual healer role a warlock can play. I've been main healer in DI, CoA and even ToI 10 with my 52 warlock and in many cases people prefered me to having a bishop. I can spam heals non-stop with kat out and can even spam battle heals for a good while. Sure there are better "instant" heal classes, but none who can dish out more hp cured / hour, because 1 hour of non-stop heal spamming is surely not for me to run out of mp, while the bishop will be sitting after 2 mins.

LOL... I have a friend that plays a warlock. It is hilararious because necros get torn apart by their own summon. Betray FTW. The summon actually becomes a burden when fighting another summoner.
Things necros don't have that summoners need to survive:
Servitor Heal.
Time to battleheal while attacking.

The necro can beat a warlock of equal level, gear and buffs if and only if silence or anchor land on the summoner (neither is relevant when on the pet), and even then the question whether he can kill a silenced summoner with TP on faster than his own and the summoner's servitor can kill him is the question.
I was assuming the necro isn't stupid and notes he is fighting a summoner before he gets owned by his own pet.

Yes I know, most necros can barely spell "pet" let alone manage one, but the old-school ones are bright enough to manage the whole betray thing.

It still results in a petless and TransferPain-less necro.
Lets not forget Arcane Disruption (cast speed slow) and if the Warlock in question is an Arcana Lord -> Mage bane (targetted) and Warrior Bane (targetted).

Hi, you run slow, cast slow and move slow...

That not good for any class, necro included...
Warlocks may have a difficult time with Necros, but as a PS I rarely have issues with them. If the Necro has a pet out I will simply use betray, send him into confusion and kill him while he is still trying to figure out who to kill: Me, my summon, or his summon. If he is smart and does not charge in with a pet, I go at him with nightshade. Nightshade will debuff him and heal me while I attack and get nuked, or I will attack/ heal nightshade is he targets my demon. As soon as my stunning cubic lands it is basically game over. If get gets anchor off I have to pray I can remove it in time to counter-attack, otherwise I am toast. Anchor is sooo cheap ><

Warlocks have betray too, so if the necro does have his pet out they stand a very good chance of taking him down.
