UN-NERF Magical/Physical Mirror & Riposte Stance

General Discussion Started Last reply 51 posts
There was no mention in the Interlude notes that these skills would be heavily nerfed... so why did you nerf it?

Response (GM Pommo) 04/26/2007 10:20 AM
Hi,
Thank you for reporting. We have tested Magical Mirror and it worked, but at a much much rarer rate than it was before. We were surprised as well so we asked about it a few days ago. Now it calculate into t he distance and the type of debuff or skill being cast on the player. So there are multiple factors that are being used in Interlude to determine the success rate of this skill. This also applies to Ripose Stand and similar skills.

Best regards,

Seriously, do GMs even know anything about their own game??!!??
You do realize that GM's dont code anything right? Do you really expect someone who probably doesn't play the game (seriously at least) to know that 2 high level skills were changed? They obviously didn't so they found out how it was changed and explained it pretty well to me. What else do you want? Honestly I'm surprised they told you more than "We have tested it and it worked" because usually they don't go into details.
It seems to me like they took the time to inquire with the developres and got a proper answer. Beyond that, there's nothing they can do - and that's honestly more than we usually get.

Still, it does seem like an unnecessary nerf.

*edited to correct, a true moment again :p
True, GM's are here to help us with in-game problems, not fix bugs or balance the game... or fix your love life.

God it's so annoying when people ask something from you, and it's not your department, and when you tell them they get ****** off..

I hate people!! :P
Uh lowered land rate? To what? 0.00001%

I have yet to reflect one, ONE STUPID SKILL, in Interlude.

Lets say the GM's say the truth (LOL, as if) and the land rate was nerfed. Then tell me why was this not mentioned in either the Korean or English patchnotes?
Also even if it got nerfed down, what in gods name would justify this? Riposte stance nerfs your stats enough to ballance it enough and I have yet to see someone complain about debuff reflects as it didnt much to start with. So its ok that nukers get Vortex skills that drain your mp, surrender you to an element and nerf most of your stats at 99% but its bad to reflect skills so it has to be nerfed? Get real pls.

Then tell me why was this not mentioned in either the Korean or English patchnotes?

How many times have things gotten nerfed or change without any mention or notice?

Nobody is arguing for the nerf by the way I think. ;p It is bull.

Name a few things that got nerfed or tuned down that didnt get mentioned?

A few changes from the chronichels that did get noted.
C1

Due to play balance between naturally fast and slow moving characters, the following skills now add a fixed amount of speed to player movement, regardless of natural speed: Wind Walk, Sprint, Servitor Haste, Quick Step and Song of Wind. The effect is similar to that of speed potions used to increase speed.

The effect of stun has been lengthened from five to eight seconds. However, if the player is attacked while stunned, the stun effect may be removed.

With some dagger skills, the chance of striking a target is now more successful from behind than from all other angles. To preserve play balance, the MP cost for these skills is now reduced.

C2

The Over-hit function was added to magic attacks also. Magic for which over-hit is possible is indicated as such in skill description.
Speed is reduced by 40% when using Silent Move.
The effectiveness of Accuracy was weakened.
Damage from Mortal Blow is increased when cast with Death Whisper.
When a PC hits a PC that has been stunned, the probability of the stun being released has been increased. However, no change has been made for when an NPC hits a PC, when a PC hits an NPC, or when an NPC hits an NPC.
When a PC has been put to sleep and is then damaged with poison or bleeding, the sleeping condition is removed. However, sleep is not removed for NPCs.
The casting distances for Stun Shot and Double Shot have been increased.
The power of levels 13, 14 and 15 for Power Smash and of Greater Heal have been increased.
The MP consumption for the following skills has been increased:
War Cry - level 2, Regeneration - level 2, Bandage - level 2, Frenzy - level 2, Seal of Gloom - levels 1 and 2, Blazing Skin - level 2, Party Recall - level 2, Decrease Weight - level 3, Power Smash - levels 13, 14 and 15.

The MP consumption rates for the following skills have been reduced.
MP consumption was reduced to 2/3 the previous level for Guts - levels 2 and 3, Servitor Magic Shield - level 1, Servitor Physical Shield - levels 1, 2 and 3, Servitor Haste – level 1, and buffs regarding clan members.

The casting time and duration for the following skills have been reduced.
Power Break, Hex, Howl, Surrender to Fire, Curse Weakness, Wind Shackle, Curse Chaos, Surrender to Earth, Surrender to Poison, Surrender to Water, Surrender to Wind, Curse Gloom, Seal of Chaos, Sanctuary, Seal of Winter.

Extreme damage (four times more than ordinary damage) can now appear at an extremely low probability with magic too.
A failure probability was included in cancellation magic. The relatively higher the level of magic that a target has been cast with, the higher the probability of failure.
A failure probability was included in Fake Death skill. There is a certain chance of failure when using the skill.

and the list goes on and on.

Name a few things that got nerfed or tuned down that didnt get mentioned?

Just for summoners and off the top of my head.
- Fixed kiting bug. [C4?]
- Change to servitor AI making it impossible to hit NPCs (including mobs) from the back. [IL]
- Change to the stay command. [IL]
- Increased fire rate of Binding Cubic [C5?]

There are some rumours about the passive pet/servitor hate as well, but I have not tried that one yet. ^^
Resist stun reduce damage of stun type attacks. Don't remember reading about taht effect..

1k damage with no stun resist, add a couple buffs and stuff.. 150-200 dmg lol
Most of what you put there are bugs and not adjustments for skills.

Increased fire rate of Binding cubic can relate to the folowing point in the C5 notes:

Some servitors’ abilities have been changed slightly. Their fighting power remains similar to Chronicle 4.

Anything that was tuned down was mentioned in notes as far as I know. For example Mental aegis tuned down.

Resist stun reduce damage of stun type attacks. Don't remember reading about taht effect..

1k damage with no stun resist, add a couple buffs and stuff.. 150-200 dmg lol

From what I have seen of Nyo's site, items/buffs that lower stun chance also lower the damage of stun damage.
Anyways GM might be right or wrong. Considering the latests event where even HGM comes into the discussion stating things where he has 0 first hand experience with I would put my bets on GM's having wrong info. So going all defencive against gm's is a nono imo. They make mistakes and they are not holy.

4 sepulchars quest does not give S grade recipe of your choice anyone?
I tested reposte stance in arena. 40 shieldstuns on me and it never reflected even one. Same with SH debuffs like curse weakness, slow etc. On PTS I used reposte stance in olympiad pretty often, no reflects there too. Reflecting of debuffs is not existing.

Looking at the many bugs Interlude has like invisible jewels or empty skillbars after swichting to subclass and back I can't really imagine this was planed.

If it tough turns out to be the "it's not a bug, it's a feature" thingy all I can say about is:

-20% atkspeed, -10% runspeed, -3 accuracy, -initial manacost, -toggle manacost vs. +30% reflect melee dmg, +0,0000000000000000000000000000000000001% reflect debuffs.

It would not be a skill, it would be a selfdebuff draining mana like some handycap skill.
If it's really nerfed that way take it completly out of the game and give a stun useable with duals instead.
The GM stated reflect skills calculate the distance and type now in order to reflect back. Now lets take Djai's example with Shield Stun. Shield stun is a physical melee range skill, if I would believe what the GM stated then I would say that a pointblanc physical debuff would have a greater reflect rate then a 900 range magical debuff. Wont you agree that atleast 1 Shield stun would reflected back?
Tanks were too powerful. Physical/Magical mirror landing at 30% rate was simply demolishing nukers. Sometimes, they would try to debuff a SK and they would get debuffed instead! That just isn't right!

Now they are put back in their place :)

/sarcasm off
For Gladi's - who cares, you guys have enough skills and were buffed enough in C5 and Interlude.

For us lucky dwarves on the other hand.. they just nerfed what, a quarter of our PvP skills.. lmao
Bigs dont make me bish slap you with my buffed skills :p
Physical Mirror = 30% reflect on physical and 10% on Magical
Magical Mirror = 30% reflect on Magical and 10% on Physical
Riposte Stance = 30% on both if I were not mistaken.

Just to clear some stuff.

Physical Mirror = 30% reflect on physical and 10% on Magical
Magical Mirror = 30% reflect on Magical and 10% on Physical
Riposte Stance = 30% on both if I were not mistaken.

Just to clear some stuff.

Does riposte stance debuff you in some way then?
It's a toggle and not a buff like the tanks. It nerfs 3 stats, which 2 are essential, mana drain is alot so its only used in certain situations or just to have fun in the arena. Also compared to the tank reflects, riposte stance also relfects 30% of melee strikes back(skills excluded).

(copy of djai) -20% atkspeed, -10% runspeed, -3 accuracy, -initial manacost, -toggle manacost vs. +30% reflect melee dmg, +30% reflect debuffs
man what do i have to go email gms again for another few weeks
forget about if the skill is useful or too useful in the case of glads and destro, that is one of the only good skills a dorf will ever get
ive lost 7 pvp's so far because of this skill and its only gonna get worse from here
the skill has enough negatives to balance out the 30% chance that i might reflect someones insta win skill back onto them to give me a slight chance to win

the fact of the matter however is it does not work anymore
i frankly dont give a [censored] what [censored] NC wants to spin to avoid fixing it but i know it doesnt reflect debuffs any more
if by some miracle it does the reflect rate is so low ill make it through to C9 before i ever see one debuff reflected

EDIT: ive got mail!!!!

Hi,

We found out that now this skill calculates into the distance and the type of debuff or skill being cast on the player. So there are multiple factors that are being used in Interlude to determine the success rate of this skill. This also applies to similar skills such as Magical Mirror. The skill work but at a much lower, or pathetic as I put it, rate.

But we are still working on it so this can be changed or corrected

Best regards,

lol looks like the gm has a sense of humor
yeah.. it does this to you when you toggle it on:

-20% atkspeed, -10% runspeed, -3 accuracy, -initial manacost, -toggle manacost
rofl.. umm hell yeah.. **** overpowered dwarves needed another nerf.

more like.. they were balancing Destro's and Gladi's and totally forgot that dwarves even have skills.
uh bigs sorry but Destroyers dont get this skill and Tyrants or Gladiators dont pwn with this skill. As I said it has a situational use and in most cases its not even used.

Dont blame this on us...
naw, sounds more like an oops than an intended nerf to me.

very very situational but i doubt you will disagree that tyrant and glad benefit more from the skill than dorfs do
i assume noone actually thought the skill was overpowered but regardless im not debating that
fact is the skill is bugged
Dorfs are not pvp fighters.. sorry but that is the reality. They are mainly for make money. You can go look into their history in l2 and you will see that they are mostly a crafter race, and nothing more. What you expcted? An all mighty dorf pwner? Go play wow to see that, or just sub your dorf to some nuker or dd :).
If dwarves were as great at making money as they suck at making PvP, they would own PvP due to highly overenchanted gear. But they're not. They're a horrible PvP toon and an average at best moneymaker.

Nameless is subbed necro, so I'm sure he can get his (her? I never did figure that out...) dose of ownage at any time if he wants to, but that's not the point.

Either give dwarves the absolute reign over money they deserve or make them en par with other weak PvP classes.

How would a gladi or a tyrant benefit more? do you know what the -20% atkspeed means for our skills? When I toggle RS i can actually see sonic rage or focus sonis recharging let alone talking about tss. You as a dwarf may toggle it on and forget about it but I cant afford to leave it on let alone what it does for my mp.

i doubt you want to debate a dwarfs place in pvp with me
just rest assured that while i have no toons higher lvl than my dwarf (and most ppl have no toons higher than than my dwarf) every single one of my toons is proportionally better at making adena than the dwarf is at pvp
NC did however make a place for dwarves in the supposed pvp balance of L2 so lucky for you this post has nothing to do with dwarves per se

i did however find it interesting that when i went and checked with a bunch of warriors on my server if they noticed the skill was broken each and every one of them replied either with the fact they never use the skill or that the skill had a really low land rate like it always had (if they used it they would know its 30%)
aldemir is on my server and the reason you see him in here complaining right along side me is because he like me has more than likely figured out that riposte is a handy skill to have for olympiad battles

Nameless is subbed necro, so I'm sure he can get his (her? I never did figure that out...)

is a secret!!!
**** im happy i waited until interlude to learn magic mirrior. all that sp saved on a broken skill. weeeeeeee
I guese in Korea all work fine. ^^ I wish smb can check or ask about this skills at those servers. :)
I will do my own test to see if GM Pommo is right (which I truly doubt). Will do physical and magical debuffs at various ranges.
I would like to know if there is anybody out there who reflected a debuff since Interlude started.

I would like to know if there is anybody out there who reflected a debuff since Interlude started.

every time someone tries to land an inst-win skill (which is very often these days) i trigger riposte by reflex
i have yet to reflect a single debuff
Does the reposte stance for a dwarfy work when AOE polin being that you use it when you stop runnin(-speed) And on another point does it count as damage done by you as in gettin the effect from VR?
yeah it works for aoe but it would be insanity to use it like that (- attack speed and accuracy)
you dont get hp back from reflect damage via vr
and you can not reflect the damage from another reflect
The attack speed is that bad or could you overcome it by tallum armour and haste SA on weapon. Accuracy doesn't seem that bad as i fight greens anyway i just want some extra damage.
well its 30% damage reflect so basically by the time you are dead the mob will have half hp left
you will always do more damage to a mob just by leaving it deactivated
Wow so nothing to lookj forward to as a dwarfy...thx god for sub comin soon.
Do you guys have an ETA yet on when this issue will be fixed?

Or are you supposed to wait until the Kamael comes out in 6-9 months?

Do you guys have an ETA yet on when this issue will be fixed?

cant fix what isnt broken

everyone who has the skill: yo NC doesnt look like the skill works
NC: nah man we checked with korea and it works but just at a lower rate then it did before
everyone who has the skill:you sure? because alot of ppl have the skill and noone has seen it work
NC: yeah man trust me it works
I was hopeing they would fix the bug fast with some patches. It seems that's not the case. Calling this bug a nerf and all the other "nerfs" like broken skillbars will be dealt with the next mayor update. At least that's what I hope for.
cry about useless skills now!

cry about useless skills now!

are you saying the skill is useless? or useless now?
Ok tried some reflect with my clannie.
Me = 78 Duelist
Clannie = 77 Phoenix Knight

He spammed his MP bar worth with Stuns, Tribunal and Shield Slam. None, I repeat again, NONE of them got reflected back.

I dont know how Pommo reflected skills but none of the countless other players couldnt. If I am not mistaken, GM Pommo was also one of the GM's that stated 4 sepulchers quest doenst give a recipe of your choice which infact does. So IMO this skill is still broken rather then "fixed"/"Adjusted" as Pommo stated.
I did many tests before writing in support.
Here that I have sent them in the appendix:
http://images.people.overclockers.ru/119895.jpg
You saw answer Pommo to it.
"much much rarer rate than it was before..."
Probably 100,200, 500 tests are necessary that something was reflected, I do not know... Pommo names it "skill changes".

But under the reference above others GM give absolutely other definition:
"We apologize for the inconvenience you are facing due to this bug. However, our team is working of this issue to resolve it as soon as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Please revert if you have any other issue. We shall be glad to assist you. "
I do not know as to understand it
Pommo states it is nerfed down to reflect at a much much (as he states) lower rate. According to him the skill works as it suppose to be.

The other GM talks about a bug and not a tuned down skill.
well i talked to a seperate GM and he basically told me it worked at a lower rate (he referred to it as a pathetic landing rate)

i know GMs cant tell us the info on what the reflect rate is because if they do the world will come to an end and the perfectly refined balance of the game will be destroyed but if they told me it had a .1% chance to reflect i would cry [censored]

i think we all know by now the skill plain and simple does not work
so the question is what are they gonna do about it?
just keep pretending its by design seems to be the tactic for now
They? Nothing... Make something can only korean programmers. Probably in a Throne 1 all will be corrected by itself...
