Castle economics 101 I don't get it Bartz

Today Oren raised their taxes back to 15% Some of you know already some don't, Most probably don't care unless they craft.

I don't want to slam anyone here that's not the purpose of this thread. I just don't quite understand the Castle Owner's that are keeping their taxes all standardized at 15%

Most of you should realize that as long as you do this. We only buy from Giran. You leave us pretty much no choice in the matter as it basically has the lowest base rate around.

Not really wanting to take money from the centre of trade (Giran) but as long as they price a tax at 15% that leaves some of you castle owners with a huge oportunity to capitolize. You can't compete with them when they have lower taxes.. this is well known but as long as they stay high you can. It allows you to price ever so slightly lower then them and reap the rewards from crafter material costs... which when you think of it have to be upwards of 50M per day... (that's being pessimistic)

The only thing that irks me really .. is that for the average crafter who makes soul shots and Blessed, The castle takes home a significantly higher profit then we do.

I price my CBSPS at 4.3a above cost Giran takes home 15.00 on every shot I make. Why? Because naturally, I have to get my ore and ccrystals directly from them. It scales to with B/A
ect.. altho I am unsure if crystal makers for those grades are utilizing some of Giran's shops to help in it's production. There is really no sense even mentioning Dgrade as it's just like C and solely in Giran's hands as long as you all standardize at 15%

Anyway... I just thought I would mention this. See what sort of responses come in :) Please keep it a mature discussion. It's not meant to rail on anyone just .. discuss server economics! and castle profit margins ;)
Get off my profit.

Get off my profit.

What do you mean? I don't understand.

II just don't quite understand the Castle Owner's that are keeping their taxes all standardized at 15%

Do you know Plato´s Allegory of the Cave? You can think as much as you want and calculate as much as you want, you still can not see the truth.
games owned by ige now. castle owners are the botters(almost 100% true) when was the last real siege? everyones getting taxed by the botters and then ebayers buy the botted taxed adena with rl money.
hella scam and will last until games dynamics change.

botters(almost 100% true) when was the last real siege?

Bartz has sieges every two weeks - three exciting sieges happened this weekend at Innadril, Gludio and Dion.
Ask your friendly clanleader to inform you about the server politics and you will get a feeling for where the action is...

when was the last real siege?

Those few weeks when the Hero System was broken. I heard that some of the best sieges occurred then.
I have to say Dion and Innadril were banging this weekend.

Looked like great fun.

I'd also disagree that castles are owned by Botters. They may be clan names you dont recognize, but those are alt clans because main clans dont typically own castles. (Then you cant sign up to attack or defend your friends castle..)

Some clans do own them on their main, a good sign that they dont have aspirations for more and are typically happy with just having a castle.

No I am not familiar with that one. Some have speculated that perhaps it's pressure from the premier alliance on the Server to keep that rate as they have the most to gain by it. BUT I don't buy that.... They make money hand over fist as it is and I doubt really care one way or the other as long as your not slammin the hell out of them.... shoot they could probably quit for a year and still be ahead <grin>

The only thing I have to gain one way or another is having people who buy off me stop complaining about fluxuating prices as they have nothing to do with me but are based upon the taxes I or others (not gouging the rest of you price wise) have to fork over. (edit: that's not entirely true, by my nature I don't like to gouge players to much so yeah lower prices suit me better then higher ones..)

Anyhow ... Giran has collected over 2.5M in taxes off one loan crafter the past 2 days ... I can just imagaine the staggering amount that might be if you take all of us into account. I suppose other Castle owner's just have no interest in it. I guess. <shrug>
You just managed to crawl out of your cave.

Giran is naturally the cheapest town. This means that the lord of Giran can allways dominate the market. If lets say Oren and Gludio lower the taxrate to 5%, Giran will simply do the same and be cheaper again.
As a result Oren and Gludio will still not sell one piece of ore but make the big sharks angry, because they lost 10%
Darn I was going make this post a few days back when they raised the tax rate. Sure glad someone beat me too it before i got around to posting it.

I agree the only reason why I ever came out of my cave to oren was the cheaper tax rate. Now that is all gone. So congratz Giran u get all my millions for being the biggest bully on the block.

Oren is the Check to Giran's taxes. It always has been and likely always will be as it is the castle with the next lowest base. While it cannot compete at 5% anything higher it can counter Giran in certain ways. At high taxes It also allows Places like Dion to come in really low (2-3%) and for once turn some profit from sales. Ofcourse Aden/Rune skim from the top of every town so their tax rates have always been a non issue.

Naturally it wasn't a problem before Dwarven village saw taxes. If Either Oren or Giran was to high It sent crafters in droves back to their starter town for ore... That is no longer the case.

Giran has shown no signs/interest in lowering their tax even when other castles have done so. But while they standardize and set the same 15% accross all castles on Bartz, only one benifits and that is Giran.
They do not lower their tax because they "highly recommend" others to rise theirs. Did you get it now?

That was our first thought the second Oren's taxes went to 15%.

However, I didnt really want to believe that, but I guess thats the way it goes ;)

The clarification is noted & appreciated! It's openly discussed and speculated on by many. Real shame to, I'd have thought the power's that be would have maxed out their adena surplus on multiple alts by now and have no real interest in server economics any more but dang, I guess that's not the case.

But they have to expect crafter's to talk about it... Ncsoft thru Castles owner's of Giran one helluva big bone when they allowed Dwarven village to fall under the tax shroud. The advantage of collecting taxes on ore at a 15% rate is .... astronomical.

Perhaps one day they will throw Crafter's a bone to counter it since obviously the Alliance(s) have their hands tied. Not that anyone from Ncsoft will ever read this or gives a **** what Crafter's think say or do.

To hell with them imo.
I honestly don't believe Uprising would lower the tax rate if all other castles did, I believe the prime reason they have it so high is for the fact they hope to anger those other castle holding alliances to try and get some action out of them, as its well known they are quite bored with the way they are right now being the dominant clan of bartz.

Its easy to say that when your not one of the castle holding clans that could literally lose their entire alliance over being KoS to UR.

I'd agree with TKT, UR seems extremely bored and just waiting around for the next game while trying to kill who they can.
Yeah, I'll agree that TK is dead on.

Sure it easier to say it when you're not apart of a castle owning alliance. You will also notice that I not making any claim to be apart of one, and I'm not denying that I may be apart of one.

BTW, a bit OT, but what happened with the Div members leaving IS? I saw the alliance is back.
The divinity people are cool guys and we still have many friends there. However, the mentality is different to our´s. Too much internal drama between players needed to be solved every day - over nothing. It is better for both to go their own way.
It is generally not easy to integrate a new member when you have a core of players working together for three years now - unless that player has some great social skills.
you can always buy ore from your favorite alliances towns giving them the 15%
maybe put a private store in giran tagged "non UR ores" see if ppl buy
i bet you would sell out fast

Ohh my.

How about everyone hunting without soulshots and spiritshots for a couple weeks. The economical pressure on Giran would force the castleholding alliance to lower the taxes.

That could work aswell.

Seriously. Crafters, however, make thier cut. You make your profit by buying crystals cheap and actually clicking the shots; something most players are to lazy for. The costs of spiritore and soulore are forwarded to your customers to 100% regardless what the price will be. You profitmargine is not effected. If I'm wrong here, and I dont see how i could be with something that obvious, I strongly suggest you give up crafting the shots yourself and just make money by buying and selling or only have people click shots in your AFK-craftshops.

I am quite sure that the daily fluctuation on the crystalmarket has a far bigger impact on the Shotprices then Taxes will ever have.

The german minister of finance could not have said it any better...
When crystal prices go up, Dwarves just craft and crush for the exact same crystal price.

Those you see raising their prices are most likely either alt dwarves (who dont have time to do the whole craft/crush thing so buy crystals from the real dwarves) or real dwarves who want to cash in a little on the profit and blame the crystal market.
Uprising lowered the market price of A cry and S cry by 10-20%, stop complaining you pay an extra 10a or whatever it is for soul ore.

It's substantially more then 10a when your buying in lots of 20000 every day :P And you should note the lower costs on Absps / ss as well since most tend to lower their prices as soon as they are out of the more costly crystals.

But.. you misinterpret.. This is NOT a complaint thread with the current Alliance in Power. I mean really, It would have been stated in the title if it were. Mostly it's just to spur "discussion" about server economics within the Bartz community and what better place to do it then here? :)
