I seldom crit error. Usually only after restarting to another character a couple of times. (Freight/shopping, etc.)
Once in a while I may get one in the middle of the game, but usually only once every 2-3 weeks at the most. Disappearing level architecture after SOE/Teleporting is my biggest problem overall.
Yeah, I'm noticing that I'm getting more of that message that says, "L2.exe has encountered a serious problem and must close. Any data that you werew working on might have been lost. We are sorry for the inconvenience." You know that one. I've gotten that one about 3 times, today. I used to get that message only about once a month.
Yeah thats the error I am getting most of the time. If I play in window mode sometimes I can just move that dialog box off the screen and still play...lol. Really weird.
Most of the time I will get the l2.exe error tho along with an error telling me about some texture error, or something like that. The long list of things where it tells you your CPU and graphics card...a graphics error I think...and the whole client crashes.
I dunno, but it is really ******* me off...but I guess I will just come back after the next patch or something hoping for more stability. :(
This may be a problem on my end, and thats why I asked here. I may check out some more things eventually to check my overall pc stabability, it's just weird because I never had this problem before, or well as severe as this.
you could try reinstal your windows and instal the newest drivers for your GPU and fully update your windows
lol, that is what I am trying to avoid. That may not even solve this problem. My GPU is a 6600GT newest drivers actually make it unstable. I have the 'best' ones for my model atm. I did a windows fresh about 2.5 months ago because my power supply died and killed my hard drive.
My best bet is because I am running an overclocked processor and summer time is coming which makes room temps a bit higher it could be causing some instability, although I am still under safe operating temps. I will prolly run a memtest and prime95 test to see if it is that could be the source of my problem.
It's not the biggest deal, it runs everything else stable, it is just L2...so my last resort would be a fresh reinstall of everything, but thank you for the advice. :)
Criticals' are because there full of chit when it comes to what hardware they fully support. The game is trying to access something that your hardware dose not support. Yet you have what it says on the list. I got this info about this from the hardware companys when i use to have massive Critical errors. Updating your hardware is a good thing but, having new software dose not mean they support it. Look at all the CCC problems with the new ati control panels. 80% of the problems are Gameguard relative, currupting your software that runs in the background. This includes " Virus software, Vidoe drivers, Ventrilo, Msn, firewalls, certain keyboards- mouse's, on board sound drivers, etc"
pretty scary list huh perfect software the gameguard is lol.
only solution i have for you is to increase your min virtural memory min to 4096 max 4096. Then uncheck most if not all of your pre-running programs in your Msconfig, under startup. This will prevent Gameguard from doing more damage then needed on your computer. when your done playing the game you can place the checks back that you need for other online stuff.
Just outa my own looking around in the tech area it seems the AMD computers get the most of these errors, maybe there not fully supported. <--- just a guess sence most the hardware is built on the board.

:) y reinstal suxs ^^ i know but hej if nothing works :<
crit errors every 5 minutes can be dissolved down to 1 issue; your ram.
there are 3 things to do to get yourself back n your feet: 1 redo your page files, 2 clean your msconfig, 3 (failing both of those) buy new ram.
1: redoing your page files will be catastrophic and unsuccessful if not done properly; make sure to follow the steps EXACTLY to avoid the dreaded "boom"
set page files to 0, reboot, defragment to within 5%, reboot, set pf to 1024 initial 2048 max, defrag, reboot.
if the crit errors still persist, try pagedefragmenter. look for it in microsoft's product library. this tool helps keep your pagefiles clean like the regular defragmenter which doesnt touch pagefiles.
2: cleaning MS config is pretty straightforward; start->run-> type "msconfig" hit ok, go to services tab, click "hide all microsoft services" and hit the "disable all" button. go to programs tab uncheck the bad ones (ones that you thought were stopped but are actually taking up cpu/ram resources - like quicktime and anything you thought you stopped by closing the program). reboot.
3: failing the above steps, there might be a physical glitch in your hardware. this can be caused by excessive overnight sellshops, or leaving your pc on and never turning it off. heres hoping you dont have an old clunker that nobody makes ram for anymore.
I get crits once-twice a play session, mostly saying something specific, as it was like "failed to initialize terrain" when getting out of town, "Failed to load map" when using GK or SOEing, some NPC dialogue errors etc. Those are classics.
Meh I should start posting them in tech issues forum, they usually refer to specific .cpp file.
I just notice that everyone gets them. why dont Ncsoft fix this sence it seems to not be a one on one issues. I turned in my errors to my hardware manufactures. Like i said up there, they said either the game your running is currupted or has bad code OR it dose not support what im using. So i decided to get a p4 d 3200mzh with a ATI, and the game has not given me the crit's yet. My Amd with a Nvidia was no good for the game even though i met the requirements x2.
Games that has bad code i guess will effect everyone diffrently. Mainly how it loads i guess. Or maybe the game trully dose not completely support what is posted on there Requirements. Would not be the first time ive seen something like that lol. There are many posts directed at this issue with no 100% solution, therefor i kinda lean towards bad game code. Maybe its gameguard who knows.
Would you mind clarifying "defragment to within 5%"
Does this mean within 5% of being complete, so in other words when defragmentation gets to 95% complete; or does this mean within the first 5% such as 4% complete. I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. I don't actually want defragmenter to finish?
