How do you make money early game?

Player Questions Started Last reply 33 posts
I am new to the game and i was wondering what is the best way to make quick cash and how much do i really need. I am lvl 16 and have almost 100k and i have no idea if this is overkill or not. What should i use the money for ingame and what should i pass over for some thing better as well? And for the things that you recomend that i buy what is the fair price so i dont get screwed?

Ty for your help

Find the money quests in the starter area and do them over and over again until you are sick of them. Then repeat that.

Learn about the manor system (see the library and also do a search)

You can upgrade your weapon to a d grade weapon I think (this is a new feature so I'm not sure of all the details).

You get D grade at lvl 20. After you do your first class transfer at 20, go to Dion and meet other 20+ players. See if you can get into a clan academy.

and 100k is not overkill. Also, learn the market for your server, find deals of wanted items and then sell at market price.
100K!! OMG you are about to learn that 100k is NOT a lot of money. At Dgrade you will want the best of the best in armor and weapons to level faster and efficiently. On Hindemith anyways, top D grade fighter armor is Brigadine armor and to give u an idea of how much that costs... 3 million adena for the helm, 750-850k adena for the top and bottom parts of the armor and of course there is the brig sheild (400k), brig gloves and boots (1mill each??) - so yeah there is an expensive set. ORRR you can go to Dion and get in with a clan's academy and get CLAN OATH armor which means a nigher lvl person will sponser you and for hrm about 400k adena worth of D grade crystals you can get this armor for your toon - you can use this until level 40 and only if you stay in the clan's academy (which is a good idea anyways cuz then u meet ppl and get help from others). Next is a D grade weapon, most top D grade weapons run 3-3.2 million adena depending on what you want. If you buy one (like a glaive or cross bow or whatever) you can exchange it for equivalent weapons with the Blacksmith of Mammon. Don't forget that DSS (soul shots) cost about 11-12 adena per shot so 1000 DSS = 11000 adena which is EASY to fire through if you spam shots to level and kill faster....

So the morale of the story after all that is: SAVE YOUR PENNIES CUZ YOUR GONNA FIND OUT HOW HARD IT IS TO LEVEL WHEN YOUR BROKE ;o) It only gets worse as you go up in grades (C, B, A, and S grade) - you can expect everything to double in price basically - so at C grade - armor costs about 10-15 million and weapons are 10-15 mill etc

GL and be sure to keep asking questions, only way your goign to learn - best way is to get in a clan academy ;o) always nice ppl to learn from... hehe Ahh yes the days of being a newb to L2.. hehe
Use Soulshots/Spirtshots only in an emergency. Don't get caught in the cycle of depending on them to do damage. As this will become a steady drain.....

In time you will need to depend on them more in later levels.

only exception being NG of course cuz they're free and you cant sell/drop/trade them

but definately try to save shots D/C grade.

there's also a few 1 time only quests around lvl 20ish for about 100k, look around the elf village, the human vil, and gludin.

once you get 20 and figure out the manor system, join dawn (or dusk if they might win) then go into the necropolis of sacrafice south of gludin and seed the mobs there for 4 times the profit :)

GL

P.S join a clan!
lol as of 100k being alot i herd about the economy here before i started to play. I am just not shure when is the best point to start mass farming. For example is it better for me just to farm spiders for a while, or find a harder mob lvl and do more farming later? im more looking for the ballence point for a starting player between lvling and farming. Well its not like i can farm too much anyways :p also i will look for those 100k quests. Im trying to complete all the quests i can anyways.

well as for shot i typicly dont even use nograde so i have like a stack of 6k or so that i use when i get mobed.

BTW evryone says go to a clan academy what is the best way to get into one? just ask around the forums?

Ty again for the info

As I said, just find out all the money quests you can and keep repeating them. Learn the manor system. Seriously... it can be a huge help.
Hunt to gain money not levels.

If you keep this in mind you will be good to go.

Hunt in places where there is the best money quests and mobs seem to drop the most adena, or expensive materials. Look into the manor system, it is complex and simple at the same time, meaning once you learn it...you'll do fine.

Helpful places to look at quests and manor system info is here on this site and at l2.stratics.com (http://l2.stratics.com)
scam people.

100K!! OMG you are about to learn that 100k is NOT a lot of money. At Dgrade you will want the best of the best in armor and weapons to level faster and efficiently.

True but when i started 3 years ago i could not afford that too and i didnt had all that benefits you have now.

On Gustin you can get brigadine top and bottom together for about 500k in npc store in Giran.
Sure helmets are wanted because of the set bonus but they not needed to lvl on. Same goes for brig gloves and boots they are fashion items not needed for the brig set i did rather get top D grade with more pdef for less money.
Actually top D grade heavy armor is half plate but its rae and dont comes with a set bonus.

ORRR you can go to Dion and get in with a clan's academy and get CLAN OATH armor which means a nigher lvl person will sponser you and for hrm about 400k adena worth of D grade crystals ....

Actually for heavy clan oaths its almost 1000 D crystals so yeah its worth 600-700k. Also if you look at that price you you get a full set like brigadine set for the price of brig top bottom with 100k extra costs you can also crush d grade items you will get while lvling to drain that price.

Next is a D grade weapon, most top D grade weapons run 3-3.2 million adena depending on what you want.

Who needs top D grade weapons ? I think players that wanna level fast. the 2nd best weapon for 1,6 mil in giran shop is good enoght till 40. Beside that as long the event is goin on you will get a free D grade newbie weapon from the ms. cat npc and after the fi´rst class change you will also get coupongs for shadowweapons.
Booth will allow you to save a lot money and farm some for the better equip.

So the morale of the story after all that is: SAVE YOUR PENNIES CUZ YOUR GONNA FIND OUT HOW HARD IT IS TO LEVEL WHEN YOUR BROKE ;o)

True but learn manor and you wont have to much problems later on. Maybe do even some alt char for manor only.
is there a list that people use that has npc shop keeper items, locations and their prices?

Already asked a few days ago, and at the moment such a feature does not exist.
Make a lvl 1 and carefully run thru VOS and or FOD and pickup peoples drops. In a few minutes you can prolly have a few hundred k.

What you cold do is go to either VoS or FoD (Valley of Saints or Forest of the dead) and look around. Believe it or not, you can very often find fields filled with money with no one around. Sometimes players at this lvl don't care about the money as it slows down their leveling.

If they abandon the area then I say it's yours. If they are still there then just leave it be.
ohhhh good to know ty ill give it a shot
I would just take a low level character (alt there) to do this. As you could die several times.
Just use the manor. You can start with red coda seeds and chilly coda. Varnish and oriharukon ore sells fast and for good prices at giran. Soulshot is not a porb too. If you do the right quests you can get about 11k of them, that should be enough till lvl 20, if not just do the quest at talking island "Rancher's Plea". You aint gonna need them past 20 so use them allways, just dont wast them all before reaching lvl 20. If you manage to do that and beat the farmers you should get enough $$ for best store D weap and a good D grade armour (oath armour is a good and cheap choise).
You can allways do some extra quests for extra cash.
Thats a fast and easy way to get to lvl 20 with a good set.
Good luck

You just have to be smart about it.

I personally wouldn't take from people who are using the hunting spot, but that is just me.

Also, you don't want to use your main because you don't want to piss off any people if you make an "accident" or if someone just decides that they want the money and choose to make your life hell.

If you make an alt, and go there, it won't matter if you die and if you see any abandoned money piles, pick them up.

Well you have a nice way of looking at it.

On Bartz there is some level 1 human toon named VOSssss that ports into Valley of Saints and, whether he sees you or not, runs around picking up drops. Believe it or not I have had full drops on the ground and most legit players will send you a tell letting you know it's there before they pick it up. Everyone is very courteous in regards to that, instead of VOSssss. He just picks up everything, and then I drop him np.

P.S. Sin Eater is teh win.

It's not really a "nice" way of looking at it.

We are talking about the difference between checking out an area and seeing whether there is anyone around or just going and picking up stuff.

I was once in FoD and saw an area filled with money. But no one was around. So, I started grinding but did not pick up any of the money. Kept it up for 2 buff rounds and still no one. So I then picked up the money.

This can be the case in many circumstances.

That is what I am advocating.

However, if a person chooses not to immediately pick up their money/drops then in the end, it is open for all to take.

Just the way the game is.

Some people really just don't want their money. I've seen this many times. In FoD and Blazing Swamp. I see no reason that a person can't take it if that is the case.

And of course, there are many players who would say, "if it's on the ground it's fair game".
I'm of the frame of mind that if it's unclaimed it's unclaimed and, therefore, mine.

If it's not nailed down, it's mine.
If I can pry it up, it's not nailed down, it's mine.

Of course, I also anticipate either a very large ball of fire/water/wind or a rather sharp and often fatal arrow coming my way.

I don't disagree that they would say that. I'm sure all the other 90% of the population of L2, mostly nukers, would say it - even though they know darn well they level just like almost every other nuker in the game. Kill fast, uninterrupted, only picking up HP/Mana herbs and very expensive drops, and get everything else when the buffround is over. Even those with SEs running behind them.

I run across fields of Adena all the time and don't pick them up. I have moved to a different area of a zone and left adena on the ground for people to pick up. I have even shouted in the zone "Free drops, lower lag :)"

But if I'm hunting there in clear sight with adena and drops around me and you feel the need to think it is yours, we'll just have to duke it out. It's thievery IMO, it's a moral issue not a game design issue. Most of my PKs were from killing people who dared me to go red for some "useless adena". Kill your own mobs for cash, if you need it.

I am not running 700-900 feet everytime i kill a mob to pick up some adena when there is 5 other mobs within nuke range that can give me some XP/SP. I wait until my buffs have 2-3 minutes and then pick them up (while killing still)

You can waste 30% of a buffround running around picking all that stuff up. Most nukers I know pick up their drops when their buffs are low/running out, which is probably why people are recommending these places for their Level 1 thief alts. Any area near the entrance of VoS is most probably being camped by a lower level (for that area) nuker who needs that cash, and wouldn't just SoE without picking it up. They just don't wanna waste their buffs (cause alot of them I see don't have an SE running behind them, and emp scrolls are insanely priced).
Honestly if i do see someone leaving loot around it is only polite to ask ( and better for not being ganked). However IMO if the person runs off into the sunset chasing mob and leaves the loot around it is pretty much fair game( vs staying around in a single small area) but it will probobly just be something ill have to judge on a case by case basis, or better yet just farm my own mobs and kill them my self.
i take it either way, i got pked by like 6 people from the same clan, and each time i just spend 2k and ported right back

I wouldn't care because I was on a lvl 1 and you be red, maybe more red when I came back.
Another "taking from others" which is less dangerous and (I would think) acceptable is something I do frequently on my lower toons.

Make sure first your toon is fast (cast speed and run speed). Look for our unmentionable friends. Attack whatever they are attacking. Free xp with little work and because you are attacking the same mob (I think you have to have last hit) the drop becomes yours also.

This gives a couple of effects in that you get xp and drops with little work (saving on health pots and shots) but mostly make the unmentionables time completely wasted because apart from xp they have no drops or Adena. I have found that eventually many of them SOE.

Happy all round :D

You have to do most damage to the mob, then the drops are yours. Of course for quest items, you have to have last hit, or be in the party that dealt the last hit :)
How do I make my money? I mug the rich and give it to the poor. Me.
