I read the forums over and over, Everyday I see more bad news. More and more of my friends quitting. Clan and alliances keep dieing. Server is dead!. From the 15 players who stared playing with me only 2 of us r still here.
Is it time for me to move on to a new game. Time have change in this game. For player like me that been here for a very long time there noting more. I think is time for me to move on to something better.
So being you have made up your mind, what was the question?
Not sure my self. I love L2 i really do. But what r they doing to fix all this problems. Server r dead. I don't care what any of you keep said in the forums. the server r dead.
game is dying. koreans didnt listen to us, and we voted with our feet. that and the obvious factors, ebay/botting, just helped destroy the level playing field we once had (albeit briefly in prelude/c1 when this was the best rpg out)
and the grind is just insane, and cant be justified on any level.
Whether you stay or go ultimately depends on how much you enjoy the game. If the game is no longer fun for you, you have no obligation to stay. Say your goodbyes, exchange emails, then move on to whatever you think will be more enjoyable to you.
From the beginning, I paid month by month so that I would have to force myself every 30 days (usually 60 from time cards) to decide whether or not I wanted to buy into Lineage II for another month. For all of C4, I decided to do something else. However, when C5 came out, I decided to approach Lineage II as a new game all over again, and so far, I have decided to stick with it into Interlude. Will I be here for the next expansion? I don't know. But, I will be here as long as I am having fun. That is why I stayed with Lineage II out of Open Beta, and that's why I returned to the game after a 6 month break.
I've been in the same place as where you are now about 2 or 3 times already...
Every time i said to myself "ok i've had it, this stupid grind is killing me, the quests are ridiculous, all of my friends are gone, etc..."
So for a few weeks i searched for new games to play, i tried almost everything, from RF Online to Lord Of The Rings or Vanguard, from Guild Wars to City Of Villains, i even came back (briefly) to Star Wars Galaxies :p
But you know what ? Each and every single time, it never missed : i returned to Lineage II ! Despite all of its flaws (and they are plenty, but what is flawless in this world ?) it's still the best MMO there is for now (that might change -but it's not even sure- with Aion, Warhammer Online, Tabula Rasa or Fallen Earth), once you've played it you cant play anything else without noticing at once all the huge differences !
Sure, with World Of Warcraft you can reach high levels in a few months, but then what ? Where is the depthness of L2 here ? Where are all the politics ? Where are all the new territories that are discovered every few months ? Where are the upcoming server wars ?
Yes it's a "hard" game, but that's exactly what makes you want to keep on playing it after 3 years, you still have a lot to do and to discover !
With the Chaotic Throne, there is a lot of new stuff that's coming up, and moreover all of the expensions are free, that's not something you see in other MMOs !
In the end, it's your decision, but i'm pretty sure we're not saying goodbye, just "see you soon" :p
I think to many people had their hopes up for the lackluster Interlude update. I am still hoping to see some of teh stuff they talked about in later releases.
It doesn't matter if all the people you originally know quit, I'd assume you've made more friends over time (or still can, now). If your server's state bothers you, just reroll on another.
That is, of course, all provided that you can still log off and think: "Well that was fun." :p
This game is going dead in part because of the gameplay it fosters and because in NA, it brings out the worst in the players, greed.
Do what makes you happy, if you've been a dedicated player to L2 for that length of time, you've done your bid for king and country, it's ok to move on. But everytime one of us leaves, it just speeds up the end result.
I say you quit. Trust me though, there ain't anything else.. The grass isn't greener on the other side. I have quit over 10+ times since NACB but I keep coming back.. I am about to quit again saying I am going to move on (I haven't played for the past 3 weeks). The only way NcSoft can ever get my to have a continued payment without me quitting though is if they start listening to what the Western players have to say for the NA/EU Lineage 2, not base it off of Korean players.
What makes me sick is i play this game legitly and someone who starts a new toon has a level 78 HE in 2 months with full sgrade and kills me without me having a chance because i have to work the market for months to afford gear like that.
Its too easy to cheat in this game and for the people who dont it makes them mad that hard work is definatly not rewarded in th end.
Can someone explain to me how you can get to 78 and full sgrade legitly in 2 months?
Interlude killed the game for a lot of us. Its going to be over a year for us to get a real update. Last update was end of last summer and it wont be till Xmas or later we will get a new update thats longer then ever promised by ncsoft on their 2 updates a year. 18 months for a real update? :(
SlyCutter, your definitely right, I have played off and on since NACB, highest character I have had is the one I am using right at lvl 53 which I have played actively for about 4-5 months :p... As you can tell, I do not cheat and that is what makes me mad that I cannot even join in to the fun PvP that I used to have a long time back when everyone was lower level. My only hope now is the fortresses, I just hope they have something offered to all levels.
As for quitting, people always get burned out. I have been burned out a lot, try quitting, finding another game and then just wait until you have an urge to play L2 again to resubscribe.
I've taken so many leaves of this game that I've lost count. Right now I'm at that precipice again, primarily because there is very little content in Interlude that excites me. I'll probably hang up the quiver once the PR gets to B grade, or if Aion is somehow miraculously released in the next week or two.
I don't blame you if you feel like it's time to move on, but if you aren't 100% ABSOLUTELY SURE, the odds are high that you will return. So let's not call it "quitting", but "taking a break."
hmm i dont know but nobody realy quit they just take time away i check this forums still at least 3 times a week even if i not a member of Lineage 2 anymore.
btw the community of Lineage 2 is realy is good even in the game i am playing now with like +- 100,000 people (VSoH) they cant tip on this small community
