Hey hey hey!
I just bought this game after trying the free trial for a bit.
Seemed like a game that had a lot of potential to be fun for me if I put in some effort myself to get a clan etc.
However I could not get past the **** character creation screen because I lacked/lack so much knowledge concerning the different classes.
So I started searching around the forums a bit for a class that had what I want in a class.
A class I only need to push one button to kill stuff with, a class that is very easy to play and master, a class that does not confuse me with a lot of skills and abilities.
Okay that was sarcasm, I actually want the exact opposite.
So what class would you recommend for me?
From what I have read tyrants and gladiators seems to be such a class.
But I also like being a less populated class, in fact id rather be a little more gimped in order to be a bit more rare.
AoE classes seem fun as well but I'm afraid there will be problems concerning groups as one.
While I'm still on the topic AoE classes, how do a warlord fare in one on one pvp? Does he stand a chance at all?
I did see on the class skill section that he has something called "focus attack" or something that made his pole weapon only damage one target with increased acc and crit dmg.
Are warlords viable for 1on1 pvp? I hope so because warlords seemed like a fun class.
The Destroyer class however seems to be, from what I have read, just as good or even better at aoe than a warlord and has the option to switch to a 2 hand sword and do very good dmg on single targets as well.
Is this true? seems a bit unfair for the warlord players out there.
Anyway, if you have a suggestion as to what class i should choose please make one here, I greatly appreciate any advice I can get.
If you want to melee AoE but also pvp, go Destroyer. Warlord isn't a great pvp class. Destroyers can be quite good, but their slow running speed is a minus (do they get dash now?).
I'll let someone else go into more detail :)
if you want a diverse gameplay with alot of skills TH AW
fun dagger classes
and maybe summoners ? i recommend necro :) you play with zombies etc they are overpowerd and you win basicly every pvp
then there are BD and sws for short buffs there always wanted in partys :) sws is kind of crap for pvp pve your for suport only basicly :/ BD can solo however
Thanks for the quick reply Champa.
Yes the destroyer does seem to be a solid class to start out with.
Lots of HP and the options to either be a strong single target melee nuker or a AoE machine of death.
Plus I think I read somewhere that they are fairly cheap to level as well.
So the destroyer is definitely high on my list regarding what class I should pick.
I was just looking at the dagger classes as well, they seem kinda fun but what I didn't like about them is the big reliance on luck.
Will the skill land or will it not that is the question.
Never liked luck based or proc based classes much, I kinda feel out of control when playing one.
Then there is the magic guys and gals, does any of them require a active play style with lots of skills and spells to use? And not just buff up and spam that one spell kinda thing.
By the way I will be playing on the FRANZ server so if there are any clans recruiting and need a new guy in their ranks let me know.
I will of course be looking for one myself as well but I thought I'd mention it in case someone that is recruiting lowbies dropped by.
nah mages pretty much press one or two buttons from lvl 0-80 like most classes
i'd say go destroyer. solid aoe and single target pve class with good pvp potential
Oh hi there Slayerized, didn't see your post as I was writing a reply to Champa.
Summoners you say? How do their summons work? Can I control them myself, choose what spells they should cast and when etc?
I'll have to check them out as well I guess.
But I kinda ruled out necromancers from the start, they seem to be a bit too powerful atm for my taste.
I actually prefer to be the widely assumed second best class at something.
Maybe I'm a bit weird that way I don't know.
Always liked the underdog.
Nameless1 thanks for the reply, seems like I might just go with the destroyer.
The whole "have to be low on hp to use skills" thing seems like a hassle though but I guess there are some fancy tricks regarding that as well.
then maybe BD is something for you :) support class with duals look cool every1 wants them in partys and there not really uber in pvp but can still pvp its just not a DD

try and keep in mind that destro has the highest hp of all classes in game
30% hp for them can be more than 100% hp for other classes
and yes there are tricks to useing the 30% skills quickly and easily....
Its decided then, destroyer it is!
I do have a few more questions though now that I have decided on what class to play.
First, the weapons I can get from the trainee warehouse.
Should I pick the fist weapons for the quickest kill speed?
Or a one handed sword/blunt and a shield?
Is over-hit very important when it comes to leveling?
Because if I choose to use fist weapons it kinda seems like a waste to invest in iron punch since I wont be using fist weapons later on.
Oh and by the way does anyone know if there is a two handed sword or blunt weapon available once I get to level 20 in the adventurers warehouse?

Thanks for all the helpful replies guys :)
I have a destroyer sub an quite frankly, I feel that the class is like a "melee nuker".
In some cases like a melee spell howler as they seem to do a lot of damage very slowly. Perhaps that is why I picked it as a sub class as my main is a Spell Howler (Stormscreamer).
However, (and I'm sure there are people who play destroyers who have a lot more experience with this than I do) I feel there are other classes that have a lot more skills.
Shillien Knight for instance, or Tyrant. Or as someone said (above) Abyss Walker.
but the destroyer is fun for my simple zen style of play.
y AW and TH got way more skills i really get bored pressing 1 button 24/7 :/ (he) but in pvp its fun i hope it rules in catle sieges are else i am gonna freak :P reroll necro sps TH or gladdy i dont know ^^
I actually had to toss a coin, heads = destroyer, tails = tyrant.
I got tails.
I'll see how it goes, I'm just anxious to start playing now :)
One more thing, is it possible to change your characters hairstyle/hair color/face later in the game?
Yes, you can buy potion from players (or make them yourself through general craft) or buy them with ancient adena from the priests of either dusk or dawn if you are on the winning side. You will learn more about that as you go.

Destroyers are just plain strong, but slow and low accuracy without buffs. However, what they are without buffs should not be a long-term concern, as most classes really need buffs at higher levels and end up grouping or boxing.
Since you mentioned a Tyrant, IMO, the big difference in contrast to a Destroyer is speed. Run speed, attack speed, you name it, Tyrants are just plain fast, at least at higher levels.
Also, if you want to know about making use of the Destroyer skills that can only be activated at 30% HP, do a search in this forum, and you'll find lots of advice and explanations.
on a sidenote:
Tyrant = speedy dmg
Destroyer = hard dmg
Speedy = expensive using SS
Hard = cheap using SS
If Adena is of a problem consider this. Im sure tyrant players can give you a better view on how expensive it is, you dont have to use speed totems either, you got some hard hitting totems to use also i believe. I have no idea how good they are compared to the speedy ones thou.
