Backstab - Attacks an enemy from behind, inflicting a mortal wound. A critical hit is possible. INSTANT KILL is possible. An equipped dagger weapon is required to use this skill.
please tell me you are not actually asking for more uber skills for the dagger class?
people only play the dagger class cause they can not actually take the time, or want to take the time to actually learn how to play a class that actually requires some skill to master the class.
please lock this thread before others decide they need more uberness for a pathetic class.... :P

ironically, dagger classes are one of the few archetypes in this game that requires some player skill
to be a good dagger....yes its actually all about skill. To be lucky and rely on lethal strikes followed by "pawned" in white chat....ya that takes abs no skill.
However a dagger that effectively uses trick/switch and sidesteps correctly is deadly. However there are only like 3-4 of these per server lol.....
This class seems to be for those CS junkies that are headshot obsessed.
Effect 1: At a low probability, it lowers monsters HP by 50% and players CP to 1.
Effect 2: At an extremely low probability, it lowers monsters HP to 1 and players CP and HP to 1.
this is lethal strike...in deadly bow...
i wanna instant kill...in backstab...

Read the description, backstab has instant kill too.. That's the two effects instant kill has.
Read it. then read it again, then go grab your father, make him read and explain it to you. Then you read it again. Put it in babelfish, translate it to chinese and back to english, then read it again.
Maybe for some reason it doesn't work that way.. but you got no right complaining, daggers are already overpowered so there..
sometimes backstab is an instant kill, ive done 6k crits on people and instantly killed them, so perhaps the instant kill in backstab is the fact that it ignores cp and you can instantly kill someone who has less hp then your stab took.
and dagger takes alot more skill then say ...a nuker, of course my first class wasnt a dagger which i dont regret, i learned alot about pvping playing my SK even though they sucked up till C5 and i quit my SK in C4.
back in the C2 days i had the chance to play my brothers AW, and back then there definitely wasn't much skill needed, and back then there were probably 2-3 people who really pvp'd good with their dagger, in the sense that they actually used more skills then their stabs, the ones that come to mind (Zynel & Unix who taught me how to play dagger correctly)
i'd always been better at playing my bro's toon in pvp then he was, and actually had to teach him how to side step which is still useful today, and not as easy as it sounds, when your target is moving its hard to stay at their back especially when they strafe, it took me awhile to get him doing things mostly right, and even then ive still kicked his *** with out the luck of lethal strikes when he had 10 levels on me.
Let's be honest... There is no skill in 1v1 PvP... especially with a damage class.
There is only "proficient"... which any trained monkey can handle for any class.
If you think you are special for being able to land a backstab, please /wrists now before you reproduce.
Group PvP does indeed take skill... and practice.... coordination and group tactics are indeed something that we can actually count on the "skill" scale.
As for daggers, I think they need buffs... allow them to throw their daggers, and land this insta-kill attack 40% of the time from only 900 range... after all this still does less damage than an archer and works less often and at lower range. The game needs more one-hit IWIN buttons don't you think?
mass pvp takes strategy it doesnt take skill
best way to mass pvp is assist on one target and the second your cp bar moves more than a millimeter run back spamming cp pots like crazy
thats how the l33t pvpers roll

dont worry your sarcasm isnt lost on me but daggers still scare me a hell of alot more than an archer does
i once had a dagger 2 hit me 2 pvps in a row through 15k cp and hp and 6k pdef
i know the capability is there for an archer too but at least they have lower attack speed so you can get a bit of pot spam in between geting hit for thousands of damage
AOE song, range 500. Deals damage to all enemy targets in the area of effect. Has chance to instantly kill affected targets. Surviving targets are subject to fear.
Arm's-Length of Cold Steel
Class: TK, SK, SwS, Paladin, DA
MP: 60
Cast Time: 2 seconds
Reuse: 30 seconds
Requires: 1 or 2 handed Sword
Against targets in light, robe or no armour, the fighter performs a precise, forward thrust with his/her weapon. This attack ignores CP and offers a chance to critically strike the target's heart or lungs. A critical strike with this skill reduces target's HP and CP to 1.
Gimme a few minutes, I'll think up some other instant-kill skills for classes that really deserve them...
Deadly blow - Attempts a potentially deadly attack. A LETHAL STRIKE is possible. An equipped dagger weapon is required to use this skill.
lethal strike right? this is lethal strike...
20. Lethal Strikes effect has been increased.
Effect 1: At a low probability, it lowers monsters HP by 50% and players CP to 1.

lethal strike im know ok?
now see backstab...

Working as both a team member and an individual takes skill that is passed along through practice and training. Strategy is good and all but the execution of that strategy through changing conditions requires skill.
You all assist on a target? Sweet... then I charge my invulnerable bishop (or whatever you focus on) right at you... while you all focus fire for ZERO and eventually kill it, I move my melee in with some fire support... you take damage so you run away spamming pots... smack dab into my cavalry filled with fully-buffed archers... the archers bait you for awhile while we move destroyers into place...
All of this timing and battlefield awareness takes skill and practice to make sure the people know their time and place.
Strategy and all man-made plans are never foolproof... execution is what gets the job done....
When the two forces meet it will come down to team and individual skill which I hope sincerely you have practiced... because your opponent has.
In 1v1, there aren't enough variables... there is a "best strat" like you described for almost every class and the reality is one class probably already has a massive advantage...
In mass PvP, the battle is sustained so you can't just assume "best buffs" because a wise opponent will try to string your buffers into blowing all their mana before they charge. Sure, you win some battles, but they wear you down... They may not have killed many of your teammates, but they sign on the castle because their charge was fully buffed and your buffers and mages were trying to fight on fumes...
Strategy + team exectution + individual efforts adding to team goals + practiced manuevers + adapting to changing conditions = skill.
F1 + F2 + F3 = trained monkey.

Range is the major issue... but the sarcasm is indeed there...
Daggers need a little bit of a tone-down... but most of it is buffing other classes to not be quite so susceptible. They most definitely do not need buffs.
Almost every DD class needs a tone-down. I'd say archers and daggers are the worse though, archers moreso because of the range at which they can do high damage.
Daggers aren't too bad. If they sneak up on you and you don't notice then u just got ganked. If they get behind u to backstab in 1v1 type PvP then you deserved to die, lol.

They have skills that make that happen, regardless of anything else you do. GF.
Backstab 101
Backstab does a lot of damage, expressed as X.
If Target's HP = or < X, Target is instantly killed.
If Target's HP = or < X, Target is instantly killed.
Any questions?
As opposed to any other skill or attack which can go into negative HP :P
You're also assuming that the skill will get under the CP which doesn't always happen (Rather rarely actually) and it's almost impossible to bluff an orc or a well CON'd tank.
Their are other ways to get around daggers. You have to be willing to reroll for it or gear yourself correctly as when fighting any other class.
For instance:
Frenzy is crazy. Keep away from them for 30 seconds.
Nukers: HIGH damage output. Get in close fast and try to interrupt their attacks. Burn their Mana, take away their attacks.
Daggers: Stun, Kite, anti-bluff with CON, low P.Def and M.Def. Mana burn them so they can't do any of their expensive skills.
people only play the dagger class cause they can not actually take the time, or want to take the time to actually learn how to play a class that actually requires some skill to master the class.
You have no idea how difficult it is to play a dagger well.
Trick and Switch are integral, and we have to have enough skill to get behind our enemies the few times it DOES land.
We also have very little M.Def and P.Def so it's hard for us to stay up unless we know what we're doing.
We're an easy class to gank with but if someone sees us coming, we have to strategize our arses off to get a successful kill.
If you think about it, Frenzy could be a heck of a lot more cheap than a dagger. Frenzy will pop 100% of the time and can be healed with healers or instantly with Olympiad.
But even they need strategy. They use earthquake to bring their HP down, time their other skills, decide when to switch weapons and which weapon to use.
This isn't really a tactic, though, and doesnt really make any sense from a playability standpoint.
"I want to beat *that* class, so I am going to make a completely new character, spend 6 months levelling them up and getting them gear, just so I can beat *that* class.... but, oh, crap, now I'm weak to these 5 other classes... ?"
Rerolling should not have to be one's only recourse when dealing with all combat-oriented classes.
Besides, taken by itself, there's nothing incorrect about the information given. Yes, that description can apply to any damage-dealing skills. However, it would be just like NCSoft to script a skill in such a way that its description suggested something completely different than its actual use.
Ever read the original description for Sword Symphony?

Well, it WAS supposed to be sarcastic when I suggested a reroll.
The point is that you CAN defeat daggers and it's not that hard. You just have to know what you're doing as well as what they're doing.
They're not the PvP gods that a lot of people like to make them out to be.
I never said you couldn't beat daggers... I simply commented to the "if you let a dagger get behind you you're stupid" comment with an explanation that, no matter what you do, they have skills that can all but ensure it.

Ah sorry. I have to defend daggers WAAAAAY too often to ignorant people think that daggers are nothing but a cheap class.
Technically, unless you get bluffed Switch and Trick won't work if they're ready for it.
They just spam attack and when they lose target the lag resets the target.
daggers arent trained monkeys, they may have been as simple to play back in C2 when it didnt matter what your pdef was you were dead if a dagger came after you.
but now days their is alot of skill involved, if it was simply "trained monkeys" as you say then anyone would be able to play a dagger class proficiently but its just not the case, how come most every other dagger class i fight usually loses to me unless they are 77+, its not cause i have any physical advantage, its cause i know how to pvp better then them.
your post just seem to be your butt hurt crying that you didnt roll a dagger class and your ****** off they can beat your fotm reroll, let me guess you one of them trained monkey necro's ....anchor/gloom/death spike/death spike? whats that F1 + F2 + F3 + F3?
daggers are the assassin class of this game, as well they should be, just how gladiators are the uber pvp warrior class of this game.
to the original poster, try reading some of our replies instead of whining like a 4 year old.
as i explained the "INSTANT KILL" effect of backstab is the fact that it ignores CP so their for it instantly kills the person if they have 2k hp and you hit for 2.1k on a backstab they're going to die, even if they have 3k CP.
but now days their is alot of skill involved, if it was simply "trained monkeys" as you say then anyone would be able to play a dagger class proficiently but its just not the case, how come most every other dagger class i fight usually loses to me unless they are 77+, its not cause i have any physical advantage, its cause i know how to pvp better then them.
On the contrary, that's something a trained monkey can learn. The pvp could entirely be scripted. "Use X skill when enemy does Y" at best, for the most part it's more a matter of which to use first. Why do you win? Better gear? Less lag? Attack first? There are a lot of factors, none of them are "skills or intelligence." Well...I suppose you have to be mentally aware, but that's not a level of undue expectation. With a little training, a monkey could definately 1v1, on any toon. It's an RPG, all your actions involve zero physical or mental prowess, that is all up to the toon's role and the reason he has stats.
completely untrue, your just another one of those classes that is ****** off because your not a dagger, and you think they are over powered, a monkey cant tell to run behind a target at a certain point, a monkey cant tell when its a good ideal to use what skill, a monkey will do the same thing over and over.
not every dagger pvp is the same, if your fighting a glad you dont run up and attack him, you use trick to cancel his first ranged attack, and pop dash to get behind him before he can target you and use backstab, then you use trick again to save you from consecutive blows, and continue stabbing from behind if at all possible, if your lucky you'll get a lethal or two off and maybe win.
if your fighting a destroyer, you use sandbomb so most of his swings miss while you stab away awhile he looked like an idiot, or maybe he even starts to run away because he is useless till he can pop frenzy.
if your fighting a mage, you get to them as fast as possible, so that you can interrupt their casts with critical attacks.
if your fighting an archer that trys to kite you, pop dash when you get close enough you can hit, cast trick or switch to make him stop running while you land backstab on him, bleed and any other attacks you can before he starts running again.
if your fighting a bd or sws your rooted, and they decide to pop ud while your rooted, use sandbomb on them and pop ue, use bleed on them over and over, and swing away till their ud ends then use stabs on them.
a monkey might be able to level a toon as well as a bot, but their is too many variables for a monkey to comprehend and understand, most of you people think all a dagger does is run at you and stab, thats just because you've never played a dagger, daggers are a class thats easy to kill by most other classes, if we were stupid enough to just rush you and let ourselves get hit then we wouldnt live very long would we?
even back in C2 when it was the age of daggers we still had strategy in our moves, sure we could kill pretty much anyone, but there was a right way and a wrong way to do things.
just because you think its easy being a dagger doesnt mean it is, its fun being a dagger, but its not childsplay, or even monkey play
ironically, dagger classes are one of the few archetypes in this game that requires some player skill
how so?
not saying they require no skill but no class in l2 is exactly hard to play
huh, dagger is one class that totally takes tactics and reflex to play in pvp. very enjoyable class to play too, and able to kill much higher levels if played right and with a bit of luck.
Any dagger will tell you the same, you can loose fights, but you know you screwed up with stabing poorly. Technically a perfectly played dagger and with skills landing decently can beat a 10 lvls higher experienced archer or mage. It s a bit different from the surrender + nuke nuke nuke nuke, but it's much funnier!
definitely, ive often killed toons with 10 level and even sometimes 15 levels if they arent experienced (killed 2 level 74 TH's at the same time, when my dagger was 55)
use trick
run behind target
stab
pretty tricky stuff there
that of course is ignoring the fact that most ppl now know how to make trick never work
huh u should dash or blinding before, turn on VS, throw a crit blow, maybe UE from sps or archer, do the trick when he s doing a skill, see fast if the trick even landed and if it s worth running into his back... if you re powed or focused might wanna swing, lethal or crit blow the dude before you backstab depending on how much cp he might have left etc. lots of combinations.
considering all this happens in the matter of 2 or 3 seconds top, it s pretty obvious you did nt pvp enough with your 6x sws to understand how hard it might be to time that good.
+ this is only a mainframe, way more stuff runs into consideration, but i wont give more hints.
after a fight the wise man will say to himself, i could have done this much better and learn. A short sighted joker will say to himself the opponent is just an wallhax[censored] and there s nothing i can do.
we dont need to hear about how you've got a pvp bot with if/then conditions
experienced pvp is not something you can program, theres more to pay attention to then just your opponent, in group pvp its a daggers job to drop the healers, and cause confusion for the enemy.
your just another one of those people that are upset cause you get owned by daggers 15 levels lower then you, cause you dont know how to pvp.
Just about every action is a reaction of some sort. So a monkey could live your life just as well as you do :p
Being deadly with a dagger isn't very hard, being darn right leathal with a dagger, that's harder. I'm an archer and I notice a huge difference between good and bad daggers, good daggers make my life hard, bad ones drop unless they're just lucky.
ok i been playin AW for god knows how long like the first week of prelude, it is my favorite class in game. to this day i still don't get bored playing it. but i will admit GLADS are **** hard to beat.. archers, well im not gonna lie i suck bad when fighting archers just don't have the CP or con atm -9 con hurts.
as for the guy that says daggers are a easly playable or botted pvp class or what ever..you have never been on barts..or watched the uprising rivals video..watch there daggers.. you'd be suprised.. dagger is alot harder then you think, timings, angles, debuffs, buffs, ...it's not just gear lvl's or luck..it truely is a skill.
destroyers arn't to hard to kill, other daggers it honestly comes down to skill in pvp..or sadly who gots bluff.
archers , well lol i just run around like a idiot when it comes to archers.
mages i don't let em see me coming, other wise i back off till the time is right...or run in fast fully buffed to end them quick..
tyrants well i havn't pvp'd many tyrants..
we don't have the Mdef to take on orcs..sure you can get lucky
for those that honestly think daggers are overpowered, i say BS...we can miss stabs and drain our mp, if we have weak p attack we useless..
look at a mage..can spam a powerful attack constantly and hit for almost a fixed amount of dmg ..sometimes before i reach them.
wanna even it out against mages..gotta have there magic miss...wanna even it out against glads..have there TSS evadable were dmg is decreased.
i know we can't take abeating but god **** if ima get hit by a glad wearing NM heavy with +4 kesh's hitting me for 3.8k dmg in one skilland then wail on me with some other skill..IMO the stones = cheap.. i can't compete with a glads, p def, m def, hp, or cp...im wearing god **** tin foil while he gets real metal.
glads are my only complaint when it comes to playing dagger.
and yes that was a long incoherant rant..
oh and guy go back to lionna, they obviously have either really good daggers and you get pwn'd alot..or they are terrible.
Anyone that can one-shot someone else is overpowered. It negates PVP, i.e. there is no fight. Hell, daggers don't even need buffs if they're a bit lucky! :p
fighting glads is hard, they'll win most of the time, but if your timing down right with a little luck you can beat them
the thing that i love about trick/switch is that if you cast it on someone while they're running they'll stop running, which gives you time to lay into them. i could of sworn ive told this to you before. (Sangaii is my bro btw)
of the tyrants ive pvp'd most of them just stand there swingin at me and miss alot, there arent very many tyrants that know how to play their class, they just try melee cause it works out for them in pve, but if they want to beat a dagger they need to stun em, and use their other major damage dealing skills.
ive played pretty much every class there is be it from PTS or rolling up alot of alts, and i know how pvp on most of them.
but i have to say dagger is the most fun, because its not easy, if i wanted an easy class i would made a necro and just stood back and mow down 5 people before they could get close to me.
most classes, pick their target and press F1, F2, F3, thats about all there is to it with other classes, they dont have to know how to move around their target, they dont know to chase down a target, they dont have to know what side of a target they are attacking before they use a skill, and possibly waste precious mp on something that might or might not hit.
in C2 you could walk up and beat the crap out of anyone you wanted, if you try to play a dagger like it was C2 your going get killed.
most of you probably only experienced playing dagger on some private server where every hit lands, and nothing you do can kill them.
at this point in time all classes are how they should be imo.
I usually roll a Tyrant on the PTS, because my first char was a Tyrant in OB.
Daggers got no chance unless they perfect leathal a Tyrant. Most of the time they wouldn't even get through my CP, didn't need stun even though it just made it that much easier. Then again, Tyrants are one of the best olympiad classes, even better than Gladiators.
It is true, most glads, tyrants, well any class really, don't know how to use all their skills to their advantage. I noticed that on the PTS, but there many roll a class just to test it as well.
daggers arent trained monkeys, they may have been as simple to play back in C2 when it didnt matter what your pdef was you were dead if a dagger came after you.
How about you try reading the thread?
The point was that ALL damage classes are very easy and that a trained monkey could indeed play any of them.
Learning how to press F1 + F2 + F3 in order is not skill.
Note this can be many classes including a dagger or a mage...
(archer is just double-click = win)
but now days their is alot of skill involved, if it was simply "trained monkeys" as you say then anyone would be able to play a dagger class proficiently but its just not the case, how come most every other dagger class i fight usually loses to me unless they are 77+, its not cause i have any physical advantage, its cause i know how to pvp better then them.
Not everyone is proficient... the pure fact of the matter is that some people cannot read, tie their shoes, or handle playing a dagger. (that is in order of difficulty starting with the hardest)
More than likely you are simply full of yourself and every single one of your PKs and PvP ticks are people 20+ levels lower than you...
Are you REALLY telling me that you think your skill at F1 + F2 + F3 is that much higher than everyone else's? Poor deluded fool...
your post just seem to be your butt hurt crying that you didnt roll a dagger class and your ****** off they can beat your fotm reroll, let me guess you one of them trained monkey necro's ....anchor/gloom/death spike/death spike? whats that F1 + F2 + F3 + F3?
A pitiful attempt... note I already stated that ALL damage classes are F1 + F2 + F3.
I think you are simply hurting in real life because I refuse to acknowledge your supposely superior button-pressing skill.
Then again I don't consider tying your shoes to be much of an accomplishment either, and that is many orders of magnitude harder than F1 + F2 + F3.
It is time to simply acknowledge that you play a FotM class and that playing it is easier than tying your shoes. There is no point is trying to extoll the virutes of playing such a "difficult class" when everyone with more than a few months of experience playing knows you are full of it.
you obviously need to go back through and re-read this thread yourself, as you've ignored quiet a few of the things ive posted, and just pointed out the things you can contest and ignore the things that disprove your views, your argument is half-*****.
my guess is that with your "more then a few months of experience" does not include playing a dagger in pvp at high levels against equal level players, if it doesnt then you obviously have no ideal what your talking about, and are just blowing hot air out your ***, cause like i said before you're butt hurt cause you rolled a class you have no ideal on playing and get owned by daggers, and you've probably never experienced a nerf either.
let me guess you play a healer, and get owned constantly by daggers, and you just have to cry because all you can do is die.
as for my pvp/pk score if you really must know its 8/5 the pk's were from killing a few griefers that were picking on my friends, all the pvp's were gained in orc barracks when i was in my 20's back in Prelude when the farmers used to fight back.
my class maybe a flavor of the month, but i didnt start playing TH because it was the FotM, i play the class because i like it, and i liked it when i first created it in prelude, back when they sucked, just as much as anyone else.
I've been crit by dagger skills that go through hp only (forget what it's called...back blow?) for over 9k... and i've been 1 shot by archers through cp and hp, and i've been 1 shot by nukers through magic crits.... and i've been 1 shot by glads... and i've been 1 shot by destroyers(titans)
basically the only toons in game that haven't one shot me are tanks and dwarves.... almost everyone has an "instant kill" sometimes.
1 shot through HP negates the CP they added, IMO - an unfair advantage to Dagger classes, who can crit for insane amounts of damage on a somewhat regular basis.
I think it's stupid, but that's just another opinion of mine. I was 1 shot by a dagger with a stab that did less damage than my CP+HP, but it only hit my HP.
P.S. He had his Necro friend come anchor me :( A taste of one's own medicine :(
Anyone that can one-shot someone else is overpowered. It negates PVP, i.e. there is no fight. Hell, daggers don't even need buffs if they're a bit lucky! :p
As SsxSin said, almost any class can one shot another if they're buffed right.
And if a dagger is unbuffed, they have around a 18% chance for any of these "overpowered" skills to even work.

The ONLY reason they crit so hard is because of 3 things:
<ul type="square">
Vicious Stance
Crit Damage on their dagger
Buffs like Death Whisper and BD Dances
Every one of these save the Vicious Stance are available to other classes, and Vicious Stance is available to several of them.
Last time I checked, an archer can crit for about as much as I can.
The balance is that we're VERY easy to kill. Almost as easy to kill as nukers and healers are.
A character with ~5000 total damage (between CP and HP) against a character with about ~150 DPS, and no combat skills, is not "very easy to kill", even if the dagger is afk. Obviously, in that case, the danger of dying before you beat the dagger to death is minimal... but that 150DPS character is going to be standing there awhile.
Issues like this are the crux of the ongoing balance debates.
Daggers are fine the way they are now. Remember that their skills do not hit every single time like a Gladdys skills do. Daggers are comparable dmg wise to a Gladdy, but have less hp, less cp, and have a chance for their skills to do NO dmg at all.
Anyone that can one-shot someone else is overpowered. It negates PVP, i.e. there is no fight. Hell, daggers don't even need buffs if they're a bit lucky! :p
fact is that luck is sometimes all we got... fact are mana burn by mages hurts.. tanks get P def.. so honestly WTH are daggers supposed to get, a weak *** evasion that can be nuked and destroyed..
p defs that can barely stand up to alot of the other weapons. .
we arn't ranged fighters.. other then 2 maybe 3 good stabs 4 once you hit 77...daggers don't have that much
so i think the lil bit of power we do get is well deserved, ive been playin my AW since prelude as shin said. basically i don't deny my weakness...but i know were my strengths of my toon lies...pure gank powers..
BTW from prelude to today ..pvp / pk count is currently 1763/2 at one time i had 268 pk's thank god for sin eather..
most of my pvp's were during the days in OB..and the gank runs i used to do with my clan/clans.
IMO glads OVER POWERED, anything with a shield OVER powered..mages overpowered because i can't evade magic..but now tanks get to block it with a shield WTH...
yah ultimate evasion NOT SO ULTIMATE!...mages should mis 2/3 shots IMO when ue is actiavated.
