Having played nothing but support'ish classes since i started L2 i decided to try a nuker (SH)
Leveling to 30 was a breeze (well, 28), i one-shotted everything in dark elf lands to lvl 20, then went on to plains of dion after that and leveled to 28 fairly quick (then all mobs were green and some blue) but i couldnt find another decent spot so i kept leveling there to 30
Now i just cant find a good leveling spot
Ive been to cruma marsh, everything there takes about 1,1 nukes, almost all enemies have like 10% health left after 1 nuke
Bee hive, i can 1shot everything but its very risky, i die in a few hits, i get failed attacks once in a while. Also, the xp is absolutely terrible for some reason, 700 xp pr kill (i have a same-lvl buffer in team)
I tried field of whispers, also terrible xp, i can one-shot light red mobs here WITHOUT bsps, but the xp pr kill is horrible, and they take 25% off my health in 1 hit and they tend to spawn on top of me
East of giran, yay i can oneshot the harpies for good xp, but of cource theres some 2x hp aggro mob there ruining my day, terrible spot due to the ogres (which needs 3 nukes, for less xp than 3 times what i get for the 1shots in Field of Whispers)
Breka orc area, the breka orcs have about 10 health left after 1 nuke, so 1 melee attack finishes them off. Shamans and overlods both has about 10% left after the first nuke, another bad spot
Im getting a bit tired of this, been spending TWO DAYS now trying to actually find a spot where i can get some ok xp, to no avail.
Where do i level a 30 dark wizard (With OOP SE, top D gear, bspsd spam) fast ?
as in dwarf start area mithril mines ?
and what happens at 34 ? would be nice to stay in 1 place seeing as you only get better at killing stuff every 5 levels (another feature that is starting to tick me off)
Just a note... anything floating or flying will be "weak to wind" and help you one-shot things.
One example are the beholder or eye models in the wastelands... they are all weak to wind and there is a decent adena quest (little chunks per piece, but infinite quest) there for eye pieces and basilisk pieces at the merchant just outside (south entrance)... the destroyers are likely closer to your level range now, but they are aggro.
When those are light blue, (some of them might already be) you can always go for the undead or basilisks or ants.
(these are not ideal as they are not weak to wind...)
Sooner or later you will no longer be able to count on one-shotting things. Eventually even Dark wizards/SH must two-shot things.
If you can recharge yourself with the SE, I wouldn't be too concerned about having to 2-shots the mobs. 1 bsps and 1 normal nuke for a few minutes and then recharge yourself. The xp per kill won't be as good, but you'll get more xp in the long run.
My main spent a lot of time in the Wastelands in his 30's (back when Golems were nuker-friendly) and then moved to the IT pit in the upper 30's. The most recent SH I leveled up did pretty good in the Fields of the Lizardmen, south of Oren.

Wizard's First rule: see an Eye, blot an Eye. Most are weak to one mage element or other, or bows, and sometimes both.
Wizard's Second rule: sometimes the most obvious spots (Execution Grounds) aren't so obvious. I think the dead trees are still a good kill for you and relatively good XP. I don't recall if the puncher-looking mobs were resistant, but if not, kill those, too. And there are lots of beasts in general, with fast respawn rates, so you make up in volume what you lack in individual xp. This will get you to at least 36.
Wizard's Third rule: As you get closer to C grade, the mobs that you one-shot fade. Remember, you're in D grade fighting mobs that are probably closer to level 40 than you are (yellows, some pinks). Naturally when you get to C grade they'll all be one shots, but at D grade even with a +++++ SOL and empower, you will eventually reach a damage peak and have to two shot -- or one shot & one whack -- mobs. There is nothing wrong with that. Obviously if you know that you have to 2 shot a mob, go find a mob that gives you the most XP per spell cast. There is one other area....ever been to Red Rock Ridge (Port there from Gludin)? Tyrant-types and Ol Mahum Commanders might work for you...plus you can park the SE on a hill out of harm's way and out of party XP range. (Or is this not a buffbot?)
Wizard's Last Rule: No Grade and D grade blows; every other level glows. Levels 36 and up are agonizing, because you're so close to that +10 Homu with Acumen and Karmian/Demon Set that you can taste it. But these levels will pass once you adapt to the pace. Hang in there.
Wizard's First Caveat: Class Change Quests are not a test of anything, but Time and Temperament.
30->34 pack all the shots you can carry and head off to the mithril mines. :)
Lower Breka Stronghold is better, and right by Giran (which means it's cheap to get to Dion to raid :) ). Do the lower part from 30 - 34, move up to the top of the ramp for 34 - 38, then goto Ivory Tower Crater and hunt there from 38 to 47 (the quest there will make you tons of cash/items).
I've done two nukers that way so far :)
From 20 - 25 you should have done abandoned camp, and then Cruma marshlands from 25 to 30.
Any more of Cruma Marshlands and you start to want to quit the game Lol.
seems the OP already went to breka, but just wants an easy way to level 40. Too bad :(
I did 20-40 with a +0 SoL and a borrowed Elven Mithril Robe Set ( you probably have knowledge?).
I did half of C Grade with a Crystal Staff/Mana Up.
I leveled at Breka Orcs and did D grade in a few days, with worse equipment than you (two shotting), with no buffs but my own. I didn't even know there were healing potions in the Grocery Store, or Acumen/WW potions, so the only help I had was herb drops.
The only thing hard/more difficult than normal for a D grade nuker is the class change quest. Just did the necro ones for my roomate the other day and I have an even more reknown hatred for them. Took like 6 hours and I knew what to do this time, Lol.
I wonder if SE is any better.
EDIT:
Also, stop being such a PL junkie and raid. Raids at high 30s give like 15-20% a raid, which, in a good raid group, will level you faster (and cheaper) than you could do solo with an army of buff-bots. Level while fill the group up, then go to raid when everyone is ready to move, rinse, repeat. D grade is too easy to complain over (except those quests) :p
That or you can reroll on bartz and level with my Dark Elf mystic, and then get PLed once you hit 34 to 40+ in a day by my main :) I like the social interaction :) Lol.
Me having to solo Cruma tower portas at level 39 wasn't a help either. Took me like an hour to kill those 10 portas (and I died like 4 times, Lol). Darn flying heads kept agroing and killing me. They suck.
If I had windows on other computer instead of linux, I would have been able to 2 box those and kill the room with main and let newb get last shot, but I didn't get around to installing it until last night when I figured life without a bot is not efficient.
28-29 Cruma Swamp.
30-39 Field of Silence 1 shotting for 1.6-2.3k. The mobs are fast spawning and packed like sardines. It's the perfect exp spot... if not for the fact that every mob is social and aggro. The ones you want to fight are ogres and the lizardman snipers. The ogres are easy but the snipers are a pain. They are ranged aggro mobs with high p atk... and insane crits (you will die in 2 shots if you get critted). If you play smart.. it's the best spot to level. It's insanely fast. If you suck... you will end up losing exp.
One alternative is the breka orc are. There are some (shaman, overlords, and I think warriors) that spawn up on the mountains (there is a path that will lead you to them). They give the same exp and they are a lot easier to kill. They are lvl 35 (while the other area I suggested is 4x) so they will turn blue by the time you hit 39~
Back when I leveled my SH, the monster eyes in between Gludin and Gludio and in the Dion region were easy one shot kills for great XP. Perhaps things have changed.

Yeah, those aren't there anymore.
Things have changed quite a lot. I remember the first time that I saw blessed shots. Was leveling in The Wastes, came into town and saw these new fangled blessed shots. They were too expensive so I didn't "partake".
Mithril mines didnt work at all, 700 xp pr kill, zero herbs, about 14% xp pr buff round
The ones you want to fight are ogres and the lizardman snipers. The ogres are easy but the snipers are a pain.
I can oneshot the ogres, getting much better xp now ! thanks for the suggestion
The dire wolves and various lizardmen gives really bad xp (500 pr kill) but the ogres give massive amounts for the similar amount of nukes

I mentioned these in my OP, the "breka orc" mob has about 0,1% health left after i do a nuke (a melee hit of 22 damage killed it), the "breka orc shaman" has about 5% of its health left after a nuke, and the "breka orc overlord" has 10%
Maybe if i had a SOL +5ish and emp3 (only got emp2, SE is 50) id be able to 1shot all of them
However, theres a ton of people here on franz and the mobs are kinda far apart

If Fields of Whispers was a problem for him, he'll surely die in Fields of Silence. The Ogres aren't the problem (unless they stun you), but the Tasaba Lizardman Shamans/Snipers and Leinrik Lads can be more than a handful. And the respawn patterns are wicked. For every person that tells you that mobs don't spawn right on top of you while you're in the midst of killing something that it is social to, I give you the Leinriks as exhibit A!
Either way, if he's going to go that route, he might as well sign up for the quests in Heine.
I leveled dark wiz till 33 in cruma swamp, then moved to Gorgon's flower garden. Those mobs are easy to kill, harpys are weak to wind. Then I moved to IT pit to farm books and stayed there somehow. Avoid golems there they have great magic defense. and learn Resist wind on your SE you'll need it.
Mobs in FoS/FoW ale 1/2 HP now, that's why "XP sucks".
Also get used to fact that killing won't be that easy 32+, that's some point where it "breaks" and you won't be able to bsps one-shot mobs. I had emp3, +6 SoL and knowledge set and yet most mobs were 1.something shot to me.
Edit: I was also levelling a bit in Orc Barracks, those are 2x HP mobs and were 2-shot to me. Decent XP.
Xp actually owns in FoS.. Im going around sweeping mobs like crazy oneshotting them with Aura Burn.
NO dual boxed SE, just a +7 SoL.
Not moving towards the snipers just yet, but will do soon enough.
I went lvl 32 -> 40 in Field of Silence doing the Black Swan quest, without oop SE.. oneshotting for ~1800 xp if I killed the ogres, or ~1k for the lizardman shamans, didn't touch the snipers after one fatal mistake though :P. Can't really think of a better place to exp a nuker of that lvl.
The point in the mithril mines isn't so much the great exp/MP (it isn't that good) but the absolutely superior (and safe) amounts of mobs you find there - stand, build a glitterfield like nobody's business without ever so much as moving. ^^

i got 13% xp pr buffround hour there, roughly the same as i got in my previous lousy spot
i was in the area with iron golems, greedy something (undeads) and floaty ghost type, also undead
i was in the area where one of the BD quests end, and keeping the 2 platforms, the 2 cave areas and the ramp clear of mobs, and burning my 50 SEs MP

Anyone else remember the eyes in the fields just outside of Gludio in C1? Little lvl 4 perma reds sneaking around? ROD was a place to hang out and get groups....
when I figured life without a bot is not efficient.
o.O
I'm sorry :( I know how much of an advocate you are for active support classes.
Field of Silence:
Lol, enjoy it. 2 shot by a Lizardman sniper? I've had them 1-shot me on a crit. They are archers so they crit more than melee mobs, they hit so hard that it's a high chance that they'll get that second shot, cuase if they hit you while you're casting it will most probably interrupt your cast. Have fun.
That being said, it's nice XP there, cause you kill so fast. Mobs will spawn on top of you all the time there, there are rocks in the middle of the island (where the best XP spot there is IMO) and if a sniper is behind that rock and you kill one, you will not know where those arrows are comin from (nor can you target and/or kill the sniper). Mobs spawn on top of rocks out of your view, and on top of other items that are high and can just drop on top of you. The best grinding there is grinding with a friend (cause there are so many mobs), that way the mobs are kept in check while they spawn. If you go along, be prepared to visit town often and/or get rezzes (not many rezzers willing to run in there either, not at those levels at least).
I have found Breka to be the best place, seriously, from level 32 to 36, then moving back to the far end of Cruma Marshlands to get to 38 [and then to Ivory Tower until 46-47 or so].
I just did this with my roomate (well, told him where to go - outside of a PL session from 37 to 40) and he leveled well. D grade lasted only about a week of playing 3-4 h a day.
Oh don't even start that, I have a dual box SE. She's not a BOT though, I dual box her. There's a clear difference, and that's what I was o.Oing about.
And I agree about the lizardmen, 1 shot on a crit on a nuker like it's nothing. Ouch.
You must be wearing devo or something... because even at lvl 30 I was never 1 shot by them.
And FYI, although Devo is the best set to wear until 40... if you're going to hunt in that mad exp area... you better go with oath/ elven mithril set instead. You do cast a little slower... but in the end the def will be worth it.
As for needing a friend or picking a safer alternative to the sniper/ ogre area.. there is no need! The only reason why you would even take a hit is if you aggro... which you shouldn't do at all. Just visually plant yourself in the middle of one of those areas and kill everything as they spawn. You 1 shot everything.. so you should never get hit. Once you clear the area once.. you should never have a problem again unless you run out of the spot looking for trouble.
I know :) It's perfectly possible to be a live support toon when dual boxing :) But I specifically called mine a "buff bot" which is why I said I know you are an advocate for live support classes (after reading many other threads you participated in).
You play your SE while you play your PP, I will let mine sit in the corner while I XP until i need buffs/MP - only putting her in the group to get her 2 levels after I get 7.
I don't like stopping. If you stop to look for your buffer... the mobs will respawn and you could get into trouble. Not to mention you lose like 2-5 minutes of exp every time you do that.
Just use /target [character] macros on your buffer and auto follow like everyone else.
I'll wade in here.
SH at 40 (of course, borrowed karmian and +3 homunc w/acumen)....
I actually LIKE searching for mobs. Fast grind is one way to go--but there are other ways to play, too.
You won't believe this, but exactly at 40, one of the absolutely best mobs for me are the hangman trees in EG. One shot, they are STILL green to me, they respawn REALLY fast, almost 2k exp each kill. Very safe area as far as mobs are concerned.
Plus, my SH is a little kill machine and reds run through EG on my server that I get to kill :).
Up to about lvl 35--beehive was great! Click--dead mob. Click--dead mob. Gorgon's flower garden and death pass came next. An occasionally lucky magic pot = one shots in death pass on mobs (or two shot but with better exp).
Even got a full scalloped jamahdr from something in death pass (didn't notice it at the time)--AND got full drop elven jewels 3 times in deathpass.
Low 30's the area around Dion (nearer to Floran) worked pretty good solo.
I'm always unbuffed and never dual box--so my toon is relatively "clean" except for modest weapon OE's.
I can never remember the "garden" north of Oren's name. With the towers--like being under water? Trees, wyrms, eyes--that's nuker heaven at 40 with my gear. Again, can't quite one shot unless I get a magic pot but it's fair exp solo.
Look around and find your own stuff to kill--it's FUN!

Flash of vendor hurts and I don't think I will bother putting anything other than Karmian + +3 Elven Jewel set with Brig Shield and Crystal Staff/Mana Up on her. From having my roomie follow me around to pick up buffs, it's easy for the buffer to move and agro it, and get 2 shot with nukes for 600+ in that gear.
There is a good spot where u can put the buffer up on a cliff where no mobs can agro it. I don't mind stopping to get buffed since I won't ever have to spot to pick up herbs anyways. Tihe time balances out eventually.
DrakkosIV... if you have karmian and homu... it doesn't matter of you're a mage or summoner... the best place to lvl up at is tanor canyon/ behind giran arena. 2k-3.5k per mob. They are group mobs (4) but they are very easy... and the drops are pretty good too. Get yourself some solar/ shadow flare books and that's a few million extra each day.
And Trensharo... my necro got from 48-60 without my SE dieing more than 2-3 times... and she has +3 elven jewlery set. Those Flash of Splendors 3 shot her... it's true.. but like I said for the FoS area.. if you plant your self there without straying... killing them as they respawn... you will never catch aggro. Hell.. the only problem I've ever had where people coming in and pking me.
As for time balancing out... time not exping is time not exping. There is no way to counter this if you are not gaining exp. I am jealous though... I wish I had someone who had the patience to pick up my adena for me.

Sea of Spores. Good place too. I liked going there with dwarf, spoiling C shots recipe.
