Level 20

Player Questions Started Last reply 8 posts
So i just got to level 20 and became a Palus knight, and now i have some questions.

Is it worth taking poison? It doesnt seem like a decent skill to me as usually fights are over quite quickly

Should i stick with 1h + shield? and will my no grade weapon when exchanged turn into D grade?

Where to exp? Can i enter raids and if so where can i find groups and how do i know what raids i am eligible for.

Thanks:)

Is it worth taking poison?

Monsters can cast a poison attack... and any resistance a person can get all the better. But i could be wrong :)
I mean the poison skilled learned by a player, Palus Knights can learn it.
I believe he means the skill "poison" for using offensively.

In my opinion, don't even bother it's not worth it.
But it's your preference.
Not worth it. The poison MOBS get, now that would be worth it. The ones players get, no.
And raids? what raids can i go on, where can i find people for them etc

Raid parties usually are looking for folks at level 30 and above. That will not take you too long to reach. When you do, most raid parties at that level form/shout up in Dion.

1)Posion isn't a terribly powerful spell, but for L20-40 it's fairly useful. Mostly because it's cheap to cast and does a bit of extra damage. (10 mp) If your using shots all the time, you won't get anything significant out of using Poison until you can upgrade it after class change, (Due to kill speed slowing down.) although you will have better skills by then to cast as openers.

For 20-40 I used it as an alternate way of 'pulling' mobs as well as adding a bit of extra damage. Although it does fall off in effectiveness compared to Drain Health in Damage around L30. (No updates to poison until L40 and second class change.) About that time you get Power Break anyway though, which is arguably more useful. Especially in areas where herbs drop.

Of all the Palus Knight skills, I only found Sting and Freezing Strike to be of very little use during normal grinding. (Too much MP for too little effect/chance.) I did go so far as to die ~10 levels or so a couple of times to learn all my skills at a later time though. You could safely ignore Poison in addition though. You should have plenty of other skills that can be used instead of it.

2)Honestly? Whatever gets you to L40 is fine. It depends a bit on what gear is available to you. I did 20-40 using some 107 duals and those worked well. I've tried a 2H sword and even the 1H blunt/sword as well. Personally, though I'd suggest a 2H weapon though. After L40 you will want to go back to the 1H, but until then 2H does more for you than a shield does.

3)You can't exchange a NG weapon for a D grade weapon at any NPC. Also, you need at least a bottom D to upgrade through Mammon as well. This will however, pretty much require that you spend a lot of your time in a Catacomb/Necro if you are upgrading from bottom to top D solely through Mammon. (For the AA)

4)If you want in on a Raid then watch the shouts in Gludin, Gluido and Dion. If anyone is trying to start up a raid that's usually the first place you see it. (For pickup raids...clan/ally/Academy raids usually DON'T advertise. Due to potential PK/Greifing by their enemies.)

5)Otherwise, explore a bit to see what areas are good for you to XP in. There are few "bad" places at your levels. Just look for mobs in your level range. For each area around the lower level cities (Gludin/Gluido/Dion) there are pretty much Field mobs of all levels, with the possible exceptions of Gludin not taking you quite all the way up to 40, and Gluido missing the stuff closest to 20.
