Today I tried to exchange a +8 eminence bow to a +8 Ecliptic Sword (both have the same crystal value of 2452 C grade crystals) and after I was able to hunt Mammon down I discovered that ecliptic sword or axe wasn't even an option to be exchanged for. To make sure I was able to exchange it, I traded the weapon first for a Crystal Dagger then a Samurai Long Sword (which is what I have now after Mammon disappeared.)
I gmed this and got a =GMSeaton=, who asked me for the details. I thought it was a bug. It took me a while to get across what I wanted, and when he got it, asked for a few moments to check on the crystal value of the sword I wanted and the weapon I was exchanging it for. When he came back, he said he'd never heard of 'a sword named Ecliptic' and asked me to please confirm the name. After a few moments he figured out that I was talking about a new weapon introduced in C5, then said that C5 weapons cannot be obtained via Mammon to 'keep these weapons exclusive' and that 'this is a feature of the game' and to 'please trust me'.
That sounds exceedingly dodgy to me; especially as a friend of mine (who has since quit the game) was able to obtain a C5 Ecliptic Axe (via Blacksmith of Mammon exchange) for his nuker when Chronicle 5 first started?
According to LadyMoira's page (http://home.comcast.net/~ladymoira/crys_c_weapons.html) Ecliptic Sword does indeed have the same crystal value as Eminence Bow, Crystal Dagger and Samurai Longsword. I haven't found anything that says I can't exchange these weapons for a c5 introduced weapon.
i would call it a bug. for some odd reason u don't get all weapon options all the time .... exchanging weapons back and forward is really the only solution
I dunno if its a bug or not, but its been like that ever since new weapons were introduced. In order to exchange a weapon for that new weapon, you had to have a specific weapon in order to exchange it.
For example, you can exchange weapon A for B, C, D or E, and vise versa. But to get weapon F, you have to have weapon C. Weapon A, B, D or E wont show weapon F for exchange.
In this case I traded the SLS for a Demon Staff, then traded again and boom the other weapons showed.
However, the GMs (I GMed this TWICE) said, in pretty bad English (I've heard better from CN farmers >.<#) that this was a 'feature of the game" and it was to "make these weapons more exclusive." The way it was delivered (and the fact the GM didn't / couldn't understand what I was talking about for a while) makes me think said GM came up with that answer on the fly to save his already wrecked AHT, and when I petitioned the second time, they yelled the answer across the room...
"Trust me" doesn't sound professional, and I've heard it waaay too many times from the nametrade scammers.
did, but I haven't got the time to dig them out just yet and photoshop the petition into a nice big long window. it's four am and I just checked my email after I got the baby back to sleep. I'll put it together later.

If it's not a bug, then it's the most obvious sign of a very lazy development staff. It's not like you can't get the weapon, you just have to swap it for the right type. I guess they are hoping that by the time you make all of the right swaps Mammon will disappear??? It's a shell game, and STUPID of them to have it operate that way.

posted at my journal (http://cutelildrow.livejournal.com/1383370.html) and edited only so I wouldn't have to upload too many pictures (for the mercy of the bandwidth limited) and to edit out the name of the alts used.
