Hunting for weapon edges (non spoiling)

Player Questions Started Last reply 15 posts
A question..... trying to find new ways to finance gear etc so i thought i'd start crafting (go me..... ahem) Anyway i did what any normal L2 playing person would and went to Stratics to see what dropped what etc (i'm looking at top C grade weapons as my Gladi is currently 52). Anyway my question is they list several monsters that drop the blades.... is there any way to tell which monster drops a particular blade more regularly than another one?

For example, all 3 of these drop Samurai Longsword Blades

53 Crimson Doll Blader - Devil's Isle
54 Crimson Vale Master - Devil's Isle
54 Oel Mahum Warrior - Forest of Outlaw

Would any particular one drop it more than another?

If the answer is yes! Could anyone advise on how to work this out or point me in the direction of where i could find that information?

Any information or added advice would be much appreciated! :)
The answer is yes.
There are many fan sites that have particualr drops for every monster/item, but placing link here might be illegal, since most popular sites of this nature are supposed as illegal by NCSoft.
The only thing I can say - google it ;)
lol thanks Warper i'll take the hint
You could always upgrade your current duels to SLS*SLS or SLS*TSU...

Crafting an SLS is not hard for a high lvl, but for someone that needs gear badly, it can be quite the drain, I remember crafting my own Eminence bow back in the day.
There are some dwarves (and perhaps others) who keep personal databases of spoils and drops. These databases are often better than the ones that are gathered by illegal means. However, they are usually private...not shared with strangers. So, if you find the right clan, you have access to valuable information not available to the general public.

Personally, I like how NCSoft does this!
Ah i'm ok for Duals at the moment, my main aim is to make some money from selling the finished gear etc, not as a mainstream of money but just as a side bit. Btw how would i actually upgrade to Dual SLS? as i thought you could only upgrade with mammon up to top C grade?

My current Duals are SLS / Tsurugi +3. I'm trying to finance myself for A Grade and my gf for B grade, i'm struggling to play the market at the mo and i absolutely refuse to go down the illegal route so trying out different means for money.

With regards to the spoiler info i'm joining a clan today so will pick someones brain on that one but for now i'll have to rely on checking the drop rates via other means.

With upgrading to SLS*SLS I mean, make 2 SLS from luxury shop CG and combine.
Hmm that's not a bad idea, the Duals i've got at the mo are borrowed ones but i could quite easily sell them and make back the money easily... Then the friend would have an even better pair of duals :-D Roughly how much AA would it cost to get the Luxury shop sword up to an SLS with mammon?

From what I know, a lot...but Im not sure how much, it's still cheaper on your collected mats then crafting BG, and having nothing left to craft your future AG.
I woudnt go selling those duals and handing him a pair of SLS*SLS without asking...

SLS*SLS has a extremely crappy SA and most people stick with Focus duals, even into A grade. (Tsu*SLS)

There are reasons most people just farm AA for Mammon instead of crafting...and drop/spoil rates are the #1.

As for your SLS blades...sources say drop rates on blades alone are in the 1/500+ range.

And given my experiences with the various drop rates, assuming you could kill the mobs that drop those until you had enough...you'd probably be in S grade before you could craft it.

From my experience:

1%+ = **** Good
1/10-1/50 = Good
1/50-1/100 = Fair
1/100 - 1/200 = Poor (But possible if you grind hard)
1/200 - 1/300 = Not happening unless you delevel and grind so hard people mistake you for a bot.
1/300+ = Play the Lotto....you have better chances of winning that!

And worse, both those mobs are Multi HP (10K+) and in one of the worst areas of the game. (Devil's Isle) If your not there with at least a buffbot and spoiling the only thing your going to get is frustration...
Upgrading luxury shop items through Mammon is the best way to go.

If you are set on crafting it by farming the blades without spoil, I hope that you have a very low frustration threshold. You will probably hunt the mobs from the time that they are yellow to you until they are green before you have enough blades. And even then there is no guaranty.

I suggest getting your hands on one blade, and then setting up a buy shop at relatively cheap prices. Not many take the time to craft C grade these days, so you might be able to save yourself some adena in the long run.

Finally, if you want to try a different approach, you can craft an Emi and trade it through Mammon for an SLS. The Emi shafts drop fairly frequently from the Orcs in the Cemetary. I did two levels on the HE in the Cemetary and had enough Emi shafts by the time that I was done to make almost 3 bows.

As for the mobs, I'm not sure what drops them in Interlude, but in previous chronicles the blades dropped from mobs in Dragon Valley and the Ole Mahum Warriors near Outlaw Forest.
Hmm a fair few to respond to, firstly selling the duals wouldn't of been a problem, its a friend in RL and i usually make money for them so they leave me to get on with what i want :-)

Judging by some of the comments i think i'm gonna try finding one blade of something then setting up shop to buy some that seems like the best option and will try for the Emi bow idea in the Cemetary (btw the SLS was just an example i was looking at all top C grade weapons)

Thanks for all the answers, gave me plenty to think about!
there are some general rules that can be said about drop/spoils

<ul type="square"> spoils always have better rate then drops (example: spoil = 1/500; drop = 1/5000)
higher lvl mobs have better drop rate then lower lvl ones (example: lvl55 = 1/5000; lvl57 = 1/4800)
multiple hp mobs have better drop rate then single hp ones (example: 1xhp = 1/5000; 4xhp = 1/4500)conclusion: mobs w/ highest lvl and hp has the best drop rate but spoil is still better :p
I would suggest finding a different way to make money. By this I mean playing the market. There are a few markets that are not too risky and give you a decent income.

1) Crystals: Find some low dgrade equip for sale and crystalize them.

The first thing you have to do is find out the crystal price for your server. This isnt too difficult. Spend some time walking through giran looking for all of the crystal sell shops. Take a look at how many and how much they are selling them for. After this, look at the buy shops. Between these two points is your crystal value.

After you have a good idea of what your servers crystal value is, look around for items that, when crystalized, are worth more than what people are selling them for. Buy the item, crystalize it, and sell the crystals.

2) AA market. Take a look at how much AA goes for on your server. Usually the AA sellers sit by the dawn priest. Generally they will all have the same price for AA, so you only have to really check a few of them.

Here is how it works. Set up a buy shop for seal stones. The price you choose is totally dependant on the AA prices for your server. Lets say your prices are 2a each. Max buying prices for stones would be GSS 9a, BSS 5a, RSS 19a. If you can buy for cheaper then do so.

Hope this helps.
