"The importance of online stability is paramount; in the case of our games, such as Lineage 2, our gaming contract with our customers states that an interruption lasting over four hours will result in consumer compensation."

Woot, I be guessing since this is a major writeup for Windows server 2003 and quotes NcSoft in the ad, it has to be true !!!

If you wish to read the ad, NetworkingWorld, May 7, 2007 front page inside ad. Two page spread.

Now, isn't ironic, in this ad, it is Lineage 2 that is the primary game, but as we see, we are the ugly step child when it comes to true advertising dollars.

I am just saying ...
That's for Korea only, everything is for Korea only, also those dollars from most important game *sigh*
We all know on line stability is paramount but even if downtime is long enough for compensation to be due, just how much is 4 hours worth ?
NC soft has refunded playtime due to downtime ONE time since lineage 2 was created...everybody got +1 day, i couldnt remember why
That was when the servers were down for two days if I remember right...

Right after C1 wasnt it? (Cant remember exactly why either.. the Lux Shop scam springs to mind but who knows)
It works out to like half a penny for 2 hours downtime anyway.
Technical difficulties are bound to happen, and when they do, I don't usually throw a fuss about lost time. As long as they get fixed in a timely manner proportional to the problem.
when the server is down you can finally wash those dishes... or take out the trash... or order another pizza. Think of it as a blessing.
Or troll the forums!

heck yeah!
In 3 years.. I don't remember the last time the server was down for 4hrs except possibly maintenance. I'm not even sure if it was down for 4 hours for Interlude, C5, and C4...
remember that time back in C4 when the servers were down for like 2 weeks cause of some hackers doing SQL exploits to get +65535 weapons, we never got compensated for that
That was the PTS, the live servers weren't down that long. You have no claims to guaranteed uptime on the PTS.
PTS doesn't count, it's a test environment, it's expected to be up and down all the time. hence the T in PTS.

The worst I recall it ever being was right after C1 launch.. the **** server would crash and have to be restarted every hour or so.. but even then, it wasn't down for 4 hours straight.

I created a clan on erica called GustinCrashed. I got my orc to lvl 11 in 5 min intervals (by todays standards thats not impressive, but back then it took a bit longer to lvl). I swear... erica was the only server that was never down.
I made my first mil because of those frequent crashes. Had an alt camp the eye of beleth and every time the server restarted logged in and killed it. Took me 11 tries before the Brig Shield rec finally dropped!

well the average european player playing on franz/teon looses nearly 20% of their weekly possible play time due to weekly maintainance
Yes but that's planned, no one will pay you for time that is just a part of maintaining the servers.
in Korea, Ncsoft is customer oriented, in US? sorry...
