Oh, I don't know. That seems a bit severe.
Still, why they are having problems with the new CM is beyond me. It could be that they have a person in mind but that person can't start "yet". Or that they are still in the interview process.
It's possible that the job just doesn't pay enough and they are having problems getting people.
Or that no one is dumb enough to be in the human dunk tank when they have absolutely no say about the future or direction of the game in the NA market :p

Interesting enough, I would love to have a job like that. A local game company is actually hiring a CM. However, it is a bit too inconvenient for me to get to. The other thing is I imagine the salary is so low that it would be difficult to make a living.
But I think it would be a great job to have. Certainly better than my current job.
Patience (I tried to resist, really) is a very important thing.
I for one look forward to finding out who they hired on as the new CM.
Were it not for the pesky detail of having to move to Texas, I would have put in for it myself. I've got quite a wealth of experience, I just don't want to move to Texas.
I was born and raised in California. I thought that I would never leave; I loved it.
I have now lived in Texas for 2 years and honeslty I would never go back to California. ( I might consider it if I was offered a job I liked at over 150k a year. Maybe.)
No more 5.
No more 101.
No more 110.
No more 405.
No more 10.
No more 60.
No more 10. (yes twice)
No more 91. (oh lord)
No more 500k house in the hood.
No more $4 a gallon.

This discussion is now about how Texas sucks. GL trying to get it back on track.
I have been though about half of the states and so far, Texas is definitely in the top 3 worst states. There has got to be something wrong when it is hotter in the shade than it is in the sunlight. I lived there for 5 years and hated every second of it.
On the other hand, my top 2 states are Oregon and Washington. 60-70 degree weather for like 3/4 of the year.

OMG .... where in God's name is this ideal place you are talking about? It definitely isn't Western WA!!! Actually, San Diego has that kind of weather.... and REAL Mexican food!!!

Screw "real" mexican food. Taco Bell all the way. j/k.
I live in Portland. Yes it rains alot, but the temperature is perfect (for me obviously).
I'm not so sure about the whole Roaches thing really...
Having lived in Texas for 12 years or so (Galvaston Bay or is that with a i..hmm), then coming to mid Florida, ugh man..
At least in Texas, the roaches coudnt fly at you. Here? You'll see the **** things winging their way right into your **** living room and its fuggin freaky. We live on a lake and theres just no way to get rid of them... and they get huge.

I saw roaches flying in Texas. My room mate (at the time) had like 3 of them fly at him as he was trying to get into our appartment. I had one wake me up in the middle of the night by walking on my hand (which was inches from my face btw). I couldnt get back to sleep for hours.
Texas also has Geckos. They are as annoying as roaches, except you dont want to just stomp on them cause.... yuck.
Seriously, who would want to live in a place that is prime for nuclear weapon tests (this still wouldnt take care of the roach problem... they just dont die)?

That maybe will make them bigger to the point that you may some day have a chat with them some day :p :p
If we don't get a new community manager I wouldn't be surprised, and if we did they'd be very hard pressed to match up to Mistryl, so I'll be disappointed either way.

you just love texas bc you have now a arsenal of weponeray in your house
Coming from Louisiana - Texas is not nearly as bad. Picture Texas heat and stupid swamps and bigs everywhere. Mosquitos as big as your head. HOT all year round and you have to dodge hurricanes every freaking year. Not to mention Louisiana is last place in everything (education etc etc etc) But good side = best food ever (your northern people sure like it bland :)) and Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street anyone? Louisiana - great place to visit (at least when they rebuild New Orleans) WORST place to live.

I havent been to louisiana, but I wouldnt doubt it is exactly as you say. No wonder the french let us have it for so cheap.

South Carolina's pretty far behind too, I don't know how it ranks with Lousiana but we're right there. All of the southern states aren't doing so well in many regards

Not true for the most part. I live in New Orleans and I think it's great. It is mainly back to normal where I live, yet some parts are still uninhabited from the storm. No suburbs connected to another by a 2-lane road (Baton Rouge). New Orleans does have the best food. Sure, the mosquitoes might be a pain, but on some days you'll get bit a lot, on others you won't get bit at all.
There's no riot in Paris, just some orcs deleveling on guards in outskirts. :p
Et le Français est langue internationale, j'exige que le nouveau CM parle Français !
:)
Is that your way of volunteering? Maybe they should only be allowed to speak pig latin.
I wouldn't want to be the CM for a community like this. Are you kidding? I can barely bring myself to log in and deal with the rampant ******tery as it is.
Oh no... the french do not respond to anything but french, even if they know 14 other languages including english and sign language and you are mute.
It would be more like:
NCS: Hello!
french: *sticks nose in air*
NCS: Hola?
french: *sticks nose in air*
NCS: Ni hao?
french: *sticks nose in air*
NCS: Annyong ha shimnikka? (sp?)
french: *sticks nose in air*
NCS: *signs hello in sign language, and when that fails, spells it it sign language*
french: *sticks nose in air*
NCS: *looks up french words for "hello"* Bonjour?
french: *sticks nose in air as they said it in terrible french*
NCS: *shrugs and moves on to packing and drops something causing it to make a loud noise*
french: we surrender!
I bet you the first time someone actually tries to swim across the ocean after looking up google directions then google is going to get the hell sued out of them. Just a feeling I get. :p

LOL this is soooo true ... when I work with French techs, they understand what I say to them in English, but answer in French and there still has to be interpreter on the phone with us heh. Now imagine how "fun" is to troubleshoot network problems remotely this way.

lol dude it was only suppose to be a joke. You see people are sueing(sp) other people for ridiculous stuff. You remember the hot coffee incident at mcdonalds? Lawsuit! Im just saying if someone reads these directions and then goes to swim across the ocean and then dies in the process. I would almost guarantee(sp sorry I quit smoking yesterday and cant think straight) there would be a lawsuit against google for providing those directions. I was really hoping I wouldnt have to explain the joke. :p
Well on one hand its very cool. I mean you don't have an oppressive government that you can't even speak out against, or for that matter a society. You can win legal ground, legal freedom, compensation. In a perfect world, its a very important foundation.
But of course it's not a perfect world... and the other side is... it's not so cool when you get sued because of careful legal wording that you didn't have time to overlook, or get screwed over in a ridiculous (not to confuse with rediculous) situation!

I know it was a joke.... so was my original post of "who would be around". Anywho....
