splatter .... i dont think they have filled the position of CM yet. Spam is acting as a full time mod in Mistryl's absence until a new CM can be found.
of course, if they backed off on the heavy criteria they posted for CM, they might get more willing applicants.
Last I checked 3 to 5 years experience is pretty standard. A college degree isn't even a requirement. Maybe I'm missing something.
I bet the 3-5 years of online CM experience could be mitigated by some other sort of experience. There are so many skills that one could obtain in other jobs that would very easily apply to this job.

Shame I don't want to live in TX.
I could do everything mistryl did when I was in grade 9 and never had a job before.
she always delete my threads in sensetive topics. so I say good riddance. so I say the next step is to fire all the gm too. just keep the nerds and techies and system admins. may be fire all the L2 staff and re-dedicate them to develope L3.

Good constructive point there Orc50 :p
Don't forget Mistryl was working to NCSoft guidelines as to what she(he ?) allowed on these boards and reading the job description I expect there's a lot of pressure there.
Maybe we have our answer there as to why the post is now vacant.
Good luck Mistryl in whatever lies ahead.

You think maybe it's possible that she did stuff "behind the scenes" too, that we don't know about and don't have access to?
You think maybe it's possible that she did stuff "behind the scenes" too, that we don't know about and don't have access to?
She did work on the website, she did work in PR, she either helped or did all the monitoring of fansites to ensure they were within the specified terms, she brought us information and features and had to brainstorm and get permission for new things (like the trip to Korea, for instance).
Her job was not easy. But you don't do a job because it's easy, you do it because you want to.
She made like 2 forum posts a day tops and organized stuff for lineage radio and the lineage roleplayers assocatiation. I don't even get how what she did can be a full time job, seems more to me like 2 hours a week. She brought us information? l2warfare.com and peoeple who translate on l2blah give us information and work 10x as hard as mistryl ever did, and for nothing I might add.
I'm a part of like 8 or 9 communities surrounding L2, and I've dealt with her on a lot of different things.
The fact that she was proactive, not reactive, made her a great CM.
I'm not trying to take anything away from the work done by blah and such, as they did a great job, but at the same time I am saying that there was a lot of what she did that very few actually saw.
Proactive on what? Getting roleplaying events going? Sorry, maybe for the community of 5x/6x people she was involved in the community, for the real players she was not.

Woah..... 5x and 6x players are not REAL players now? Get a life! After all, you were never ever 5x/6x.
Proactive on what? Getting roleplaying events going? Sorry, maybe for the community of 5x/6x people she was involved in the community, for the real players she was not.
/Agreed.
The majority of your player base could care less about some stupid role playing event (Hi wishing well, who the hell came up with that stupid idea?).
We dont play this game to sing songs by a fake freaking fire and pretend we are drinking a mug of ale, we play it to kill each other. L2 is advertised as the premier PvP game, not the premier Role Playing game.
I hear EQ does great at that though, really.
She ignored the greater part of the player base, the greater part that actually keeps this game running... or is everyone so naive to think that its the 5X people that do it? Hell no, its the 7X's with 3-4 paying accounts per that keep it afloat.
Every single player that pays their $14.99 a month is a "real" player.
The "work" that Blah does is ALSO done by NCSoft. Please note that every single chronicle has its own list of patch notes and new feature lists on this site. Please also note that the translations here rarely if ever contain serious errors like Blah tends to have(AoE Sweep anyone?).
Blah can have patch notes up next day for major releases because they are not bound by company policies and guidelines. Just because NCSoft can't get you information months in advance of a release does not mean they are not doing their job (Note: You can't do anything with that info until the code is on the servers so getting it early is not that much of a big deal).
FanSites have their purpose, the official site has its own purpose. Both do admirable jobs keeping players informed. But they truly are apples and oranges.

*cough* anyone can make a lvl 80 toon with 4 subclasses and in 5 Sets of Gear.*cough*
it takes imagination, creativity and interest to create a character and a plotline. it takes even more of that to create an environment of persons to make hunting monsters an accomplishment for the character within the plotline.
btw, i have been paying for this game longer than you, i have 3 accounts and i havent yet been 6x. i have been 5x numerous times. my current Character has more depth than you can fathom.
now, stop posting and learn how big a world you have in this game.
By your logic Ashane, NCSoft should cater to the adena selling companies since they have thousands of payed accounts.
NCSoft caters to those that WANT to work with them. The Roleplayers are outspoken and typically polite when they ask NCSoft for somthing.
Power gamers tend to just demand things and QQ when they dont get what they want.
Most servers typically have 2-3 major power alliances, even at max numbers that accounts for what, 500ish toons? Lionna has atleast 2 DOZEN clans that are roleplay centered.
My $14.99 is as important to NCSoft as yours, in fact I doubt they see any difference between them.

Well, I only pay any real attention to the English and the Gaelic... but there's only 1 other Irish player on Lionna that I've ever met, and I am not even sure he plays any more.
Of course, many people in the power alliances have toons in the roleplay clans because they *gasp* LIKE TO ROLEPLAY! It is silly to say that because someone pays for 2 accounts instead of 1 that they should be catered to.
Roleplayers follow the fansite guidelines(typically) when they make their websites and forums and such. There is a reason Blah is not a recognized fansite on the official site(Unless it changed recently).

When I stare at the screen for 5 hours, do I not get a migraine? When I type and click my mouse like a secretary on speed, do I not suffer from carpal tunnel? When I stub my toe sprinting to the restroom right before a raid, do I not curse?
What makes the 7x's with 3-4 accounts worth anymore to them as players than the people who actually have 1 account and keep friends in party? Not for speed-exp, not for drops, but for the enjoyment of being with friends and playing the game. Quit acting like those players are any different from the rest of us just because not everyone shells out alot of money for a...wait for it...brace your self....game.
They've had grind events, they've raid boss events, and on the PTS they had a RP event. HOLY CRAP! Seriously, get over it.
I'm just wondering who peed in their apple juice...
The farmers who take every raid boss? The company who bans my friends for doing nothing but leaves these farmers here? The company that refuses any form of localization for the game to solve stupid balance issues? The broken 7 signs system? Do you even know what 7 signs is? How the competition works? I don't know why I even talk to you 4x people who will never understand the END GAME.

Following the rules will get you far in life.
Far in life? This is a video game. Furthermore its the fact that the player base who spend 5x as much time actaully playing got entirely ignored. I hope the new CM can learn from Mistryl. Maybe she did keep the RPers who will never get to 76+ and the new CM can keep doing that, but some attention on the END GAME players would be nice.

I know all too well how 7s works. There actually IS a competition on Lionna, you know. And if you think I'm 4x, you have a LOT to be mistaken about.
I've been here for 3 years. If you are dense enough to think that I don't know as much of the game as you do, you are clearly deluded.
Deluded? What do you think because of whom the farmers are here - the legit 5xs?
I'll agree on the balancing though. Buffs need fixing.
Who says all low lvl people are legit? I know people who sold like 500mil worth of BEAA from hero comp to some level 61 trying to make a +6 nightmare heavy set, I bet that guy was legit. Acting like farmers are here because of high level people is just plain stupidity.
The vast majority of high level people who are a "factor" on Bartz are legit, the ones who participate in hero comp, epic boss raids, large scale pvp etc. You just don't have a clue.
What makes you think NCSoft even cares about how knowledgable/hardcore any given paying subscriber is? I think you need to get off your high horse and step back into reality. The developers are going to do with the game as they see fit. If you think you're being ignored, then get used to it. They don't play favorites just because you're 7x with max everything and 3 accounts.
You think because you worked your butt off to get your ingame status that NCSoft owes you something? You're gonna need to float right down from the cloud you're on and smell the flowers.
ROFL? Do you not know who business works? You work to please and serve your customers. If you go back to read my previous posts you'll see that I did say its good that Mistryl paid attention to the people who want to pretend they're really an elf and talk about stories of lore at the wishing well, but she entirely ignored the rest of the people who play the game. Does NCSoft owe me something? What do you think we're paying for?
Unlike you I'm not going to make statements about stuff I'm completely ignorant on so I won't speak for other servers but once again its not the players job to police the servers and keep a balance of ebayers between the high and low level population, its NCSoft's to get rid of them entirely.
Deluded? Whats the best grp setup hunting in primeval island?
Skipping it altogether and going back to the catacombs? PI is just not efficient. Fun, not efficient.
what buffs should people raiding frintezza run?
Depends on the classes. Archers should have crit heavy buffs, nukers need acumen / empower / wild magic. Insert dances songs and SAs where appropriate.
what type of magic is antharas' attacks or are they physical attacks?
Earth / Dark / Physical. And I still resisted for 1 dmg when all the 7x around me fell down. So there.

whats the best setup to kill longhorn with 1 grp?
Congratulations, this is one I don't know. But if I have to say, I'd say something with a BD, SWS, WC, and several archers to bounce hate around the room. Just a guess, though.
don't make me go on, you might have played this game for 3 years but you're a noob. sorry. having post count on the official board of over 2k and being on lineage radio doesn't make you knowledgable/hardcore.
You really don't know who you're talking to. Post count, LR, no... that doesn't count. But actually experiencing things, and not paying people to do it for me? Priceless.
Some things money can't buy. For everything else... Well, you know how it goes.
That is true, and I very much wish they would enforce on those benefitting of farmers as that would solve most of the problems.
As far as the value of a customer goes? The most important customer is one that causes little effort (splatter) and subscribes for a long time on many accounts... but those are the botters and ebayers.
You're paying for a service to access Their servers. You are paying to play a game. If you don't like the direction the game is going or the customer service or whatever problem you have some options. I'll tell you demanding things will not get you far. You're being childish and petty.
I don't walk into a bussiness and rant about the way they operate. I simply don't shop there, and reccomend others as well. What you don't do is walk into thier shop and rant and rave, it will get you evacuated real quickly.
And a business works to make MONEY. There is no code that says you have to please everyone if you run a business. Apparently your reality includes too much wishful thinking.

being high level doesnt make you hardcore. being hero doesnt either. critting for 9k damage? everyone can, 90% of us do. whats so special about that.
primeval isle... the one place all S graders go to get A grade drops. grats on being a twit.
antharas doesnt drop anything worth the time and resources to drop him.
prophets dont need tattoos. they are already uber in their gear. and at that you really dont need mch to beat 9/10 contestants.
who the hell cares who longhorn is. he doesnt have a boss jewel.
EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT the 7x game. nobody cares, cause the best kills are where you dont care about winning or loosing. where you are actually not just another archer. where gear and levels make ... 0 difference.
where your character takes life, personality, strength. and doesnt need to heroshout "LAWL BSOE MORE LAWL" to be cool. cause i could do that. but i wouldnt be cool. i would be a lawlhero.
do you knwo why one alliance on every server takes the hero spots? do you know why every server's high levels get tired? cause nobody likes high level lawlheros. only the other lawlheros like the lawlheros.
bottom line, fun is fun. i have mine at low level. i dont need to work hard to have mine. if you require level 80, 3 subclasses and 9 sets of high level OE'd Gear, then by all means. have your fun. i will be over in that corner enjoying myself while you work for your first level 80.
Deluded? Your questions are irrelevant. I can ask you a million questions that you wouldnt know the answer to. Does it make me smarter? Does it make me less "noob"? Does it make you more "noob"?
There are many many many parts to this game. If you dont realize that then you are the noob. I know people who know crafting inside and out. I know people who know exactly what mobs to spoil and how long it will take to get certain mats. I know people who can make millions starting with next to nothing. I know people who know what the best pvp and or pve set ups are for nearly every class there is. My list can go on and on.
My point is that experience is relative. Knowing about raid bosses and what buffs to give out doesnt mean you are more experienced than someone who knows the fastest way to make money. Your xp bar certainly doesnt determine your game experience.
This is a money driven market, you do know that right?
So by your logic, they would want someone's $15 just as much as that $45, since it is a money driven market after all. Everyone who pays should get equal consideration, not who pays more.
Well, the whole paying more thing IS important - but a legit 3 or 4 boxer doesn't "pay more," someone who owns a few bot trains does. But nobody wants to go down that road, it's a pointless argument.
She ignored the greater part of the player base, the greater part that actually keeps this game running... or is everyone so naive to think that its the 5X people that do it? Hell no, its the 7X's with 3-4 paying accounts per that keep it afloat.
This is the original post I was responding to. I'm not going to get into all that crap. Please don't drag that into association with the point I'm trying to make, because its nowhere near it.
I love all the "We want to be catered too as well!"..
And yet, who does the Korean fan base cater too? The high levels.
Whats been coming out in C4/C5/Interlude? Stuff for high levels.
Why? Because they make your money, not some guy whos never gonna sniff S grade.
Sorry, argue that all you want. Its the reason NCSoft NA is a dying *** market, because they refuse to get off their *** and do something about Hero Competition, about Castles being worth sh*t, etc etc. Stuff the high levels fight over, not your 5X role players.
Huh? I'm just saying: the argument that people who pay for more accounts are more important/keep the game running is backwards, because as much as ebayers and botters did in the beginning to destroy the game, they are now directly and indirectly paying for the vast majority of all accounts. It makes little difference if you have one, two, three or four in comparison to that - so to speak, supporting your point.
The game needs fixing, in many aspects - it doesn't matter what level you are, it matters for how long you are going to keep playing and therefore paying.
That mostly means expanding on end game and easing the road there, but those are mutually exclusive, so there's a problem.
Fixing the bot problem without banning all those who have benefited in the past won't solve anything, but adding more proper interesting content to ALL ranges of the game, both to draw in new players and to keep old ones, would be a good idea. The amount of players leaving the game is too large, and it userbase too small, to neglect the lower levels completely.
Everyone agrees that content on both ends needs to be updated (updates like C5 that address primarily one end (lower levels) but still offer plenty to the other are a good move, unlike Interlude, which was not even half a real chronicle), I'd think, to keep the game alive in the long run.
That said, the game has a few key player "types", and all of them need care if they are to be kept paying. Us lower levels aren't as much in touch with the frustrating and broken elements of the game, but then we don't have the sparkly sieges or epic raids to keep us entertained either.
Argueing by number of accounts, as outlined above, is just silly though.
PS: I'm certain an update that consisted almost enitrely of adding skills at around 56~60 was a high level content update. o.o
Sorry, argue that all you want. Its the reason NCSoft NA is a dying *** market, because they refuse to get off their *** and do something about Hero Competition, about Castles being worth sh*t, etc etc. Stuff the high levels fight over, not your 5X role players.
Between my wife and I, we have 3 accounts. One has an archmage, another an Adventurer, and 6x SE. Does it matter? Nope, not a **** bit.
Yeah they've added stuff for high level characters, and they freaking deserve it. But they've also added things for mid-graders to get higher level like shadow weapons, herbs, couple of new b grade weaps (past updates).
The game is what you make it and if it is dying or that **** bad, then just quit. Those 5x'ers, RPers, hell anyone legit are just as valuable to NC as customers, as someone ranting on the forums about who supports the game more.
To Mal: Gotchya ;) Just had to place it into context.

Quoted for truth. I don't have a problem with noobs, but I do have a problem with noobs who don't know their place.
If these official boards actually allowed the real community to hang out instead of having draconic posting rules (can't say anything bad about the company or game, even if you're trying to help or have a problem!), or if the NC NA actually had the power to change *anything* we suggest, that would be cool. I mean I'm posting on this account because my other account got banned for complaining about farmers. On any other community forum (and yeah, I play other games) that would be absurd.
I really respect the people that work at NC Austin and stuff, because they're in a very bad position because they aren't given the tools or resources to deal with the issues that NA players have. I'm sure they do the best they can, but in the end this is a Korean game, for Koreans. We're just the odd ones out, that aren't listened to, but make a little bit more money for NCSoft.

You got every singel question wrong, thanks for proving his point...
Then why don't you share your obvious wealth of knowledge and give us the "right" answers?
Oh, that's because there is no right answer! Every person plays this game just a little differently from the next one.
Learn to see past your nose. I have. Sure, the game needs people whose only concerns are going to be getting to the top level and proving they've got a bigger [censored] than the other guys, but guess what?
Once you've burned out there's a hundred people waiting to take your place. And then they will burn out. And so will the people that take their place.
So... why don't you go play with something shiny. I'm sure it'll hold your attention about the same amount of time.
(can't say anything bad about the company or game, even if you're trying to help or have a problem!)
You know perfectly well that that is untrue, or none of the people with more than 300 posts would be around. Most people here have complained about the bots, the farmers, etc. - most of us just didn't insist on turning it into a repetitive spamfest.
or if the NC NA actually had the power to change *anything* we suggest
True and incredibly frustrating that the only thing they can customise is events - and even then that's just about the background story they can do. I'm positive the game could have had greater success in the US if botting and ebaying had been pursued and banned for properly from the start and if it could have been adjusted more.
Skipping it altogether and going back to the catacombs? PI is just not efficient. Fun, not efficient.
- Yeah and how do you expect to get the level 80 spellbooks that only drop there, then? You didn't even answer the question, anyway. Fail.
Depends on the classes. Archers should have crit heavy buffs, nukers need acumen / empower / wild magic. Insert dances songs and SAs where appropriate.
- We didn't ask what buffs you need just to function in the game (do you guys actually raid WITHOUT those buffs?), he asked what specific buffs do you need for Frintezza, and those are dark resist buffs so you don't get one shotted. Fail.
Earth / Dark / Physical. And I still resisted for 1 dmg when all the 7x around me fell down. So there.
- You didn't even answer the question correctly, and how can you resist a physical attack? Excellent shield defense? Oh, and you probably will want Flame Guard up. lol, Fail.

- Fail, it's a nuker group with Paladin. If you have another way to do it if there is "more than one answer", fraps it and show me.
How about instead of talking out of your ***, and then saying "oh there is more than one answer" when you CLEARLY don't know what you're talking about. Just admit he's right and move along.
Just out of curiousity and way off topic, is that properly "one group" or is it one group with a bunch of outside rechargers and buffers? And the destroyer setup doesn't work?
PS: Glad to see I didn't make an *** of myself by posting correct guesses - but none of that is rocket science really, certainly not exactly knowledge more complex than that specific to lower levels.

http://[censored].com - Really good information about drops and other stuff like SA crystals, obviously don't use the programs they offer there, because well, even though every other mainstream MMO allows 3rd party stuff like AddOns etc in WoW as long as it's not actually cheating... you can get banned for it in L2, so stay away from it!
Have fun.
/edit: censored? that's what I meant about draconian earlier!
It's cencored because NC don't like the sniffer (3rd party program). I don't blame them. I wouldn't allow links to things that violated my EULA either, if I had one
I believe Ember levels crystals, but that's a really vague memory and probably wrong - and I'm not sure at all where he is, but the point is that it really doesn't matter - do you know where the BSpSC recipes spoil, or why dicors are such a great place to hang out as a BH? :p Probably not.
Because it's simply 100% irrelevant to your gameplay: Just as Ember to mine.
ETA: About the high levels - a nuker just about thirty levels higher than the highest 'nuker' I've ever had just told me that BW robes are perfect for her...

Right - and I wasn't only referring to that, but what makes stuff like that any different from the AddOns and other very powerful 3rd party programs for WoW and EQ2 and stuff?

1) Timak Orc Warriors, Enchanted Stone Golems, Dire Wyrms
2) Dicors? 50% chance to spoil metallic fiber, other than that, no idea.
Gotta agree with Aeze here, NC is being a bit too harsh on the boards if you compare it to how badly they manage to keep in check the bots, ebayers and other stuff breaking the EULA ingame.
Customer service and the responses on petitions/mails are horrible and many times show a total lack of knowledge about their own product.
Heh, maybe the board staff should charge of game accounts. :P I wonder how fast THAT would clean things up. But then, if you look at Gustin and Lionna boards - the moderation is quite obviously not as harsh as it's made out to be.
That said, I agree that the customer service is pretty horrible. ^^ Too little understanding of their own product.
Easy question:
a) where is Ember, and b) what makes it special?
Lower floor of Forge of the Gods. You can level 11/12 crystals on him (9 crystals may be leveled at once). I've also heard it said you have a low level chance of getting a 13 off him
Aeze, even within our own alliance (Impulse Alliance, Lionna Server) we still to this day argue over which groups to take to Frintezza/Antharas/Valakas. I honestly believe that we will argue those groups till we're dead.
I could tell you the exact setup we use for Frintezza and Antharas, the exact buff setup and the exact time it should take under optimal conditions. And yet I've never been to either of them.
You know as well as I do that PI sucks monkey nuts for actual XPing. FoG AoE, X room IT Archer groups, even 4 man melee teams in Catas are more efficient, safer and usually better XP. We have ONE group that will even bother to go to PI. The only reason they go is for spellbooks. There is nothing about that place that is fun or interesting.
One of the questions you hear most after Baium is dropped in our alliance is "Where do I hunt my sub?" I could tell you the best spots to go 1-75 for a Nuker, Archer, Melee, and Spoiler(Max money over XP typically). Could you do the same?
Can you go floor by floor in ToI and tell what the good spoils are on each?
Your knowledge of end game is great and all, but there is a whole lot of game out there to enjoy and play that is NOT endgame.
For you, getting to 76+ was important. For some people it's just not that important. It is important to me, but it took me 3 years to get to 75, will take another year for 76. I spent those 3 years working hard with an account full of scavengers are various levels so that I could farm mats, craft and make money to afford the things I needed.
Far more important to me than getting to 76+ is having fun. This is a game afterall, it is meant to be entertainment, somthing you enjoy. I enjoy PvP, I'm in an endgame alliance. I've learned and proven that you do not have to be 76+ with S grade and a Drac+Focus to fight and be useful.
I get a lot of crap for being a Bounty Hunter trying to PvP. But people who know this game well really understand the value of a good meatshield.
There is so much more to this game than the endgame. And as far as those worthless 5x/6x toons go, they hold castles on Lionna, they have held them in the face of 76+ power alliances(thanks to our enemies attacking our castles while we were attacking the neutrals). Consider that there are far more toons in the 5x/6x range than there are 76+. I think it was DarkMotion that took a Zerg of low 20 toons and was killing 60+ toons.
And yes, Destroyers are the 9 man wrecking crew for raids. Every normal boss in the game dies to Destros in under 2 minutes(LongHorn occasionally takes longer). It wont be long before NCSoft screws up destroyers though as always.
If I want a game that is pure endgame, I'll play WoW. Lineage has been vastly superior to WoW in the fact that the journey to reach endgame content is as important and vibrant as the endgame is boring and lifeless.
Frintezza, Baium, Frintezza, day off, frintezza, seigeday1, frintezza+seigeday2+baium if he spawns, baium(will be up), frintezza, day off, frintezza, day off, frintezza, baium, antharas, frintezza. What an exciting end game life(Yes, this is an exageration..sort of). Throw some PvP in there and maybe some grinding and where exactly is this awesome end game everyone thinks is oh so cool and important?
What's most funny is that the majority of things people are ranting about don't fall under the job description of the CM.
Developing content, banning botters, banning ebayers, making sure that the end-game content is delivered by the devs....
... CMs don't do that. That's the jobs of a Designer, an Art Team, and a bunch of Code-monkies. A CM's job is to tell you what the Designer, Art Team and Code-Monkies have in store for you... if the Designer, Art Team and Code-Monkies give them anything *to* tell you. If there's no info-flow to the CM, there's no info-flow to the players. Get it?
Between my wife and I, we have 3 accounts. One has an archmage, another an Adventurer, and 6x SE. Does it matter? Nope, not a **** bit.
Sure it does. If you cancel those 3 accounts, NCSoft loses more cash then a person who canceled 1. Thats basic math for ya.
Yeah they've added stuff for high level characters, and they freaking deserve it. But they've also added things for mid-graders to get higher level like shadow weapons, herbs, couple of new b grade weaps (past updates).
I'm suprised you didnt say they added new top A weapons too. Considering how hard the A weapons are (and even how hard the B weapons are.. hell, Ice Storm Hammer anyone?) its blatantly obvious those arent for "every day" people.
So we are left with Shadow Weapons, throw a dog a bone I guess.
The game is what you make it and if it is dying or that **** bad, then just quit. Those 5x'ers, RPers, hell anyone legit are just as valuable to NC as customers, as someone ranting on the forums about who supports the game more.
I dont feel like quiting, thanks for your concern however.
So, when NCSoft promotes Lineage 2, I guess they say "Its the premier roleplaying game on the market!"? Please quote me that source, since I'll be waiting.. likely forever.
I can quote however... "Lineage 2 is the premier PvP game currently on the market, and we strive to keep it so" Source: MMORPG Maganize, May issue, Interlude feature.
Want me to continue quoting? Since I can... Its rather obvious that Lineage 2 is not about Role Playing. That dosent mean you cant Roleplay all you want, having played Lineage 1 and 2, the story is rich in content.
Just dont expect to get tons of stuff to help you Roleplay. An if the main drive of this game is PvP (which it is..), then the NCSoft Staff should cater to that crowd. Either that or change the entire basis of the game, remove PvP entirely and add some Inn's with Ale.
- Limited forced actions in quests (almost all quests are voluntary, and where they are not, the actions you take for the most part can be explained with ease).
- Open PvP. An absolute must for good RP in a high fantasy setting IMHO.
- Introduction of raidbosses including their stories for easy custom questing.
- Huge amount of lore presented unobstrusively. ^^
And new candy (like the duel system, expanding on unpenalised relatively free PvP) is constantly being added.
I say the main part of L2 is still to grind and to compare what you achieved grinding through PvP - I doubt the game could keep anyone's interest for long if the PvE was removed for all.
because they refuse to get off their *** and do something about Hero Competition, about Castles being worth sh*t, etc etc. Stuff the high levels fight over
It seems like thats Korea's job to fix, so apparently they don't see it as a priority either.
Thus why I said... the story is rich in content ;)
However, did you see L2 marketed as a role playing game? No of course you didnt. That would be market suicide.
Average MMORPG gamer is not a roleplayer. That lot is a rather small % of total online gamers. (Dont get me wrong, the majority are far more mature then the average 20 year old MMORPG'er who wants to pwnz things up.. thus why guilds like TOG and The Wanderers florish)
What's most funny is that the majority of things people are ranting about don't fall under the job description of the CM.
It bears repeating, because the sheer number of uninformed and clueless people in this community is laughably high. It seems to me that being a Community Manager and dealing with all of them takes superhuman patience. I couldn't do it. The prevailing sense of entitlement alone makes me want to jam my finger in my eye and swirl it around.
The sense of entitlement is a common issue in MMOs. When you buy the latest console game, you dont(typically) have expectations of content being added or that you can voice your opinion and have things changed.
MMOs on the other hand are continuously being updated and worked on, game devs read and request information and opinions pretty often. It starts in the beta process where the players work with the devs and support team to make the game fit for public consumption. We also feel vested in these games more than the latest console game because it is a constant payment, every 30 days we have to pay again. Things you subscribe for tend to be things you have a bit of control over. You write letters to newspapers/magazines when you dislike an article right? Its the same principal.
