I do miss the good ol' days when staying Perma-red actually meant something.
Now it seems it's a dying breed, all thanks to that crappy Death Penalty. It's expencive to remove the penalty and is really annoying.
Last time I went out hunting, I racked in 7 death penalties in a **** row!! Do you know what that does to the Morale, Effectiveness and Pocket book of a PKer?? Argggg

Are you sure about that? I could have swore that my penalty count went up when I went afk in Dion and someone brought a guard over. It wasn't a fluke either, I did that a few times in Dion. The thing about Death penalty was that it's meant to replace normal Item drop on a death to a mob. Well, you can and will accrue Death Penalty by being killed by other players. I've had that happen to me during a regular pvp fight and while people were chasing my red so what gives? By the

bleh, ever since that POS sword came out, I've been grinding like mad trying to get it even for a minute, just for the heck you know, so far nada and it's only been what, 2 expansions since? I've given up on trying to get it just like I did with the drops or any thing else positive in my favour.
One of my clanmates got it in VoS. Before they even knew what was happening, a big clan was all over her, killed her and took the sword. I'm thinking maybe they used 3rd party software, to be able to find the sword so quick. You're probably just as well to have never found that sword.
I'm pretty certain you get death penelty dying to guards, I have seen the deleveling bots standing in a grocery store spamming the scrolls (must cost them a fortune)

And yes you can get a death penalty from dying on guards. I washed one of my reds on guards a few months ago. May have changed in interlude though? I havent tried it recently.

there is a reasonable delay, and then there is insanley fast, competely and utterly impossible fast. when u are a single port away, but its gone before u even get out of black screen? somethings fishy.
I don't see how 3rd party software could help you get there faster. But I'm not an expert on the subject. They'd have to know where it will drop before it drops - I don't think it's possible to know that.

i think that haveing two is cool but i HATE the fact that some one else can get it when the holder dies...just makes it easier for large clans to hold the sword and use it for what ever...no one under 70 can afectively hold the sword more then 15mins...and that is saying that they relog as soon as they get it...
it is abit crappy... imo there should be different grade ones.. or e.g say a clan member got it, make so if they drop it. the guy before clan can not pick it up.
it just ruins it, i doubt i'll ever get to hold it.. because of it.
Good to have a clan hall to fall back to in the case of the sword. If I ever get it, that's the first thing I'm doing. Before I even think. So that after that moment I can think about what I do with it.
I have been around to see the chaos that erupts in a chase for one of the Swords. It seems like if you didn't have a full army of clan members helping you out, you'd have to be on the run for a good while... until the sword got strong enough at least. But I'm not all too sure how long that would take.

About the original topic: Since what you might call a lawful guy within the game I would oppose those permareds... but deeper down I consider the importance of a good-evil type balance that's really important. The days when walking Gludio and Dion were dangerous was fun.
If I ever get a demon sword while grinding, I will log off and stay logged off until it disappears. I don't mind doing it cause all they are used for is to PL oneself and one's clan members. You dont' see Zariche owners running around Pking people for fun like it was intended. They log in/out of catas with clan army protection and PL themselves and their clannies/friends. Since you don't lose XP when dying to Zariche (?) they can power it up by killing clan members nad paper rezzing them over and over again, anyways.
But good luck powering the sword yourself should you get it if you aren't 76+ and in one of the server's top clans/alliances.
