for a lvl 10 human warrior
I have no idea where to lvl (I am a complete newb)
also what is a grade lvl
some guy gave me a bunch of hi lvl gear
he gave me
brigand tunic
brigand gaiters
helmet
rip gaunt;ets
boots of power
kite shield and
sword of revolution
when I equip them I am getting somekind of lvl penalty when does this go away?
oh and what is the penalty?
the best place for you to hunt will around the Talking Island village and the there are some level restriction for the gear:
from 1 to 19 is no grade
from 20 to 39 is D grade basically all the thingies you got from that guy
from 40 to 51 is C grade
from 52 to 60 is B grade
from 61 to 75 is A grade
from 76+ is S grade
now when you get a new grade in gear you can use the gear for that new level + all the previous gear for example if you are 61 you can use all your C grade stuff and so on
Ok, by "grade" they are talking about the little letter that comes at the end of the equipment name. "No-grade" is equipment that has no letter after it, thus making it starter armor.
So you will need to be level 20 before you can use the brigandine, kite shield, and SoR (Sword of Revolution).
As for where to level, if you are still on Talking Island, you should kill werewolves near the Obelisk of Victory or run to the west coast of the island on the cliffs and kill spiders. When you get to level 15 or 16 you can try going inside of the elven ruins there and continue leveling.
As for the penalty you recieve, you don't get the armor bonus(es), you will run slower, you have less evasion, slower HP and MP regeneration..
You might be able to use the sword successfully, even though you don't have D grade mastery. You lose accuracy by using a weapon above your grade, but when you don't miss, you will hit quite hard. If you don't have a top NG weapon, the SoR might be better. Give it a try :)
Ya...the armor hits harder on penalties then weapons do...
My advice is use your map minimized, and check the ''World info'' area. Go to ''Hunting Areas'' tab, and filter it by level and find the place where you are or near you thats 10-12+ in level. That's what I do. ^^

Doesn't the penalty also reduce attack speed?
Better off using any of the no grade weapons, I think. With noob buffs and pots he should be ok, plus there are quests for NG weapons that he can do.

S Grade is 75-80
Unless they changed it/all info I seen is incorrect.

What server are you on?
Use newbie token at talking island and go directly to Elven Village. Only return to get skills/etc or do the odd quest. Talking Island is home to 80% of L2's newbie griefers.
until L15 it is good to hunt in the newbie regions and do all the quests.
My suggestion is to teleport with the traveler tokens to Elven Village.
Do there the fungus quest as often as you can and all the others too. http://lineage2.stratics.com/content/library/quests/
Do not forget the weapon quests for L10 and 12 there
dependence on your equipment you can go to Gludio at L15 -20 hunting around at the ruins or to Gludin.
Don´t forget to make a short trip to the warehouse in the Darkelven village at L15 and take the quest from the warehouse keeper there before going to Gludio.
