I had this crazy elf firstly try to kill me, then me beg to too try and kill her. If I had killed her which I didn't, what would happen to me. Would I loose all my money and equipment if I died afterwards?
When dueling and if you loose do you loose all money and equipment?
Well it's not clear from your statement if the player who asked you to kill her was CHaotic (red) or if she wanted to do a duel with you or an open PvP in mutual agreement.
Duelling doesn't make you lose anything. It's a fair game duel (like the word means) to measure your strength with the oponent. You can not lose any gear or equipement.
Also if you are doing open PVP and both of you are pink in name and one of you dies, you will not drop anything.
ONLY a player that is red (chaotic) will drop gear once he has reached over 5 player Killing points. Someone who has 5 pk's and is white or pink during pvp will not drop gear.
I had a red player try to get me to kill him in DE Village once -"now kill me so I can delete this character". He could have deleted the character anyway. It made me very suspicious, and I would not do it. I can't say what he did afterwards, as I had to log anyway.
this same player tried to get me to party with her, while asking me to kill them, because she wanted to go back a lvl which I thought was strange?
When partying can you access other items and £
But you do LEARN more about your powers and your limitations. And on top of that... there's no negative energy involved, no swearing, no tears (usually)... :p
B4 a PVP fight, there's no legitimate way that I am aware of, which can be used to determine your opponent's exact lvl.
I've met ppl who could see incredible amounts of info about my toon, using bannable programs, but that's another story.
You can ask your opponent about his lvl, and hope they're telling the truth, or you could guess by the grade of their attire (if you get familiar with different sets of robes/armors). Then again, they could be wearing D-grade robes, and wield a weak wand, but when PVP starts, they put on their A-grade robes, and out comes their +16Sword of Miracles, so you are dead in an instant.
Well, yes... some ppl do seem to find this funny... whatever.
My advice? Join a friendly clan, get to trust ppl, see their exact lvl from the clan info window, and duel frequently with them. Best way to get experience. :)

Well this is the concept of de-leveling. If you are more than 5lvls above a mob the drop rates reduce greatly, so this guy might wanted to get killed so that he could "access" again a specific drop from a specific mob.
Also when someone is in party and in close distance he gets an amount of your xp, his share of drops (depending on loot policy) and half your adena drops, he cannot take anything from you though, unless you give it to him that is... :)
1. You don't turn red by killing a red person.
2. The reason a red person asks you to kill them is usually to lose karma. Karma is what makes them go red.
3. People cannot steal items / money from you by partying. Using illegal programs, though, they can see your level/hp/mp.
4. In the olde days you couldn't delete a character who had karma, so either that happened a long time ago, or the person doesn't know the new rules.
5. You only lose items if you have 5 or more pk points. If this is your first time killing anyone, the only "penalty" you get is people are going to be able to kill you without themselves turning red. That is until you work off your karma, which shouldn't be very long for your first kill.
A person who is chaotic cannot enter a duel. It will tell you that that person cannot duel because he/she is in a chaotic state. Same thing if the person has < 50% HP or MP.
You can check your opponent lvl using party match system. Open it, create waiting room with specified lvl range and ask this person to join it. If he lied, he wouldn't be able to do so.
