First of all, it dropped while I was leveling a dark elf fighter. I was all of level 18 when I was in command of one of the most devastating weapons on the game. I don't think it's even sensible to have this weapon drop in newbie areas.
And here's why...
Of course the top server clans came to fight for possession of the sword. So I figure I had a couple of options: I could log out and then try to log in when I was sure a clan mate could get it - OR - I could log off and offer to sell it to one of the guys that were after me - OR - I could just try to kill some of these guys since I had a pretty strong weapon and some high CP.
I chose option 3....and wasn't I surprised to find out that I couldn't even hit the people that were trying to kill me. After 40 or so swings, I only hit one guy for like 124 damage. They steadily hit me until my CP was gone and then my HP crumbled like bleu cheese. Now, I realize the sword has to be leveled up to be really dangerous, but seriously...if it's going to drop in a newbie area, shouldn't you be able to at least reasonably defend yourself with it?
As it stands, having Zariche just cost me valuable time I could have used leveling.... :mad:
Well, you DID decide to try and PvP with it.
If you wanted to just get rid of it, you'd take off all your armor and let the big clans take it :P
I wouldn't call what happened between me and the larger clans PvP. I mean, I would have had to have been some kind of threat for PvP to be meaningful. And I didn't have to take my armor off. I found that a bright glowing DLE will for some reason cut through bronze armor with little or no difficulty. Zariche should make anyone a PvP contender in my opinion. Maybe an instant jump to level 80 as far as HP and attack goes. Also giving the wielder full sword masteries regardless of class or level with high accuracy to boot. As it stands, it sucks big time if you're not already over 70 with it...
I think you screwed up. In the situation you described I would log out immediately then get on my main and sort out how to transfer the weapon to a high level character that could use it. The way the cursed weapons are set up that would probably be a warrior or tank class (although here I'm not so sure ...).
Of course, hindsight is 20/20. I'm sure if it dropped for me on my main (a storm screamer) I'd try to do what you did and get pulverized by a hero zerg. I hope that if it dropped on one of my alts I'd have the foresight to switch to my main, switch to my Destroyer subclass, then I'd PK my alt with my Destroyer and go from there.
Hmm... how much does Zariche's strength really grow if its used off of weaker targets for a while? Could someone below level 20 kill a level 70 even when Zariche's at max? If not, then I agree --- Zariche needs to be stronger for those lower levels or there's no point that it even drops to them.
I killed a mob and the sky turned red that very instant that I did. For the briefest instant, I was excited that I might have the demonic weapon. And then the instant was gone. Nope, it wasn't me, but someone else who must have killed a mob at the same time that I did. The cruelty. That's as close as I've come to getting Zariche.
It's just as well. At the time I was leveling a level 30ish prophet. Not sure if I would have had time to log one of my higher level toons before all of Giran was on top of me.
L2 is a clan/ally based game. Strong clans/alliances have the option of controlling many things in game, including the cursed weapons.
If you are not in a clan, preferrably a clan with a clan hall, keeping hold of the thing if you get it is going to be **** near impossible no matter what lvl you are. It is extremely valuable, and easy to hunt. The person who has it is a sitting duck, no matter what lvl you are. Sure, if you are 75ish you might keep it a few minutes longer than someone who is lvl 20, but the bottom line is, you are dead meat.
For all the untagged peeps, and lower lvls, if you do get the sword, log out or BSOE to town and log out there. Then, make a deal for the thing and earn yourself some adenas. You can try to make a deal for protection from a bigger clan, maybe even a temporary invite to their clan or something like that.
Trying to go it alone is out of the question, you may as well forget that [censored].

This game is a ruthless pvp game, use your brains and SOE then log. A lvl 18 isn't gonna do anything.
Even at lvl 76 I had to BSOe to clan hall and get my ally to help me get an XP spot with a summoner logged near me and a spy to tell me when people were coming. I kept getting Dagger classes coming and logging in my spot... I log, summoner logs in and brings some friends. I log in again, so to the daggers and they get killed in blackscreen by my clannies.

I think you should get exp for killing people with the Zariche. That way people will die, and others will stop killing mobs with one of the two most deadly weapons on the server.
If you were flagged it was PvP, it doesn't have to be "good pvp" to be pvp.
It should drop to anyone. If I was on my noobie player I would be happy I got it. Who cares. I would have went with option one to give to a clan mate who is of high level. If you ever get it again, you will now know not to do what you did.
If you were to get XP for that what's to stop me simply clanning up alts and sitting in castle for days just killing them over and over again for free XP?
Perhaps if the level of the toons you killed had an influence on how much xp you got. So you'd get nothing from killing level 20s if you were level 80. I think that'd be good :)
EDIT: of course you could still kill your high level clannies without consequense. So maybe it's not so great after all :eek:

This is your only hope.
If you're not 70+ with BSoEs and buffs scrolls and don't have a clan hall. GET TO TOWN. Say you won't come out until it disappears, and ask them to offer otherwise. Clans will buy it, Zariche at 76+ can pull in near 10% per hour. People will pay anything for that kind of exp.
If you don't this is what your combat log will look like when they send a party of daggers after you.

always carry SOE and when you do get the Zariche at low level, you will port to floran. sell it from there and fund yourself all the D, C, B gear youll ever use.
i did it for 400m on a server i was on for 5 minutes. just because i could.
Back to an earlier comment ... aren't the 2 cursed weapons out there really only a big boost for melee DD classes? I haven't seen a screenshot in a while but I thought the boost was mainly on Patk with not much Matk compared to a normal weapon.
The 2 cursed chaos weapons act as "no class weapons".
Meaning that any class can use them efficently, nukers can nuke with them now alot better, destroyers arnt AS good as before with zariche, duals cant be used to dance on the BD.... you get my point.
So melee are... probably better with them, I dont know, but mages are certainly alot better with them then before interlude :P
In Pagens or Monastry, for the full time of exping with it, the person alone can make about 300m back AT LEAST, not to mention half of level 79-80 in that time at least if your doing it the full 3 days.
I remember when i bought Z sword for 100m and ******s on these boards were like OMG YOUR DUMB OMG U ARE STUPID, ended up that that one big server lag for an hour and it dropped and disappeared after an hour on the ground cos i couldnt pick it up with my alt that was INFRONT of it, stupid ncsoft but yea, i did make about 30% into 77 and made back 25m, still worth it :P
i swear it's like he read a forum where people talk about end level content and then pretends to know about it but misses out on some details that make it painfully obvious that he doesn't really know anything about it.
