i've heard a couple people saying that you can give any other class a pole + buffers and you'll do fine...but is it really that effective? and if it is a good option, what's the highest lvl u could pole at?

I believe this is mostly used for the 20-40 lvls. Obviously this would exclude nukers since they attack super slow in heavy.
The concept of "no one can use a polearm but a polearm class" is just silly.
Polearms on all other classes but warriors work just fine... they just hit less mobs in the arc and your patk is lower with them.
The formula seems to take into account small pulls and automatically works on pulls less than 5... so you will swing at (not necessarily hit) 4 mobs all the time even as a non-polearm class.
Note this is not a static number... it just seems to be the number at which the polearm users start getting a LOT better.
With larger pulls you wil indeed swing at 6-8 mobs, but it is based on a percentage of the mobs in the swing area.
Polearm classes are indeed better than non-pole classes at polearm use, but a decent player can use a polarm to reasonable effect given proper buffs and setup.
I have been poling my HE from lvl40 to 51. Im using a OPA+3, no SA. got about 570 pattack.
been pulling 3 rooms in the middle of branded for some time now, started when they where yellow, now they are green.
always same pulls, pull nr1, 8 mobs. pull nr2, 12 mobs. repeat. yes, it takes a bit longer to kill, but not very much longer. got prophet buffs, and a SE to heal me (both OOP)
no downtime.
so yes, its better then any other XP you can find, even if Im poling with an archer.
