I recently talked my girlfriend into playing L2 with me and I gave her my 14 day trial key that came with the game. So far, she really likes the game and is thinking of continuing so my question is, since she has the trial key, does she still need to purchase a copy of the game or can she just buy a game card to activate her account?
I think all she needs to do is use a game card or creit card if it is a trial that came with the game. I know for a fact that people have made a second account using the 14 day trrial account that they got when they got the game.
Credit card is enough as far as you buy retail/epic game serial - no need for game time card then.
You should select "Upgrade account" option to apply game serial code.
After that you should reactivate game account using credit card or game time card.
Game time card is not enough by itself.

$45? You should be able to get the (boxed) game from Best Buy or Gamestop for $20.
At $20 that is only $5 for the game and $15 for a months play. Only way I could see you paying for more is if you buy from the NC store or live in another country with some awful exchange rate/cost.
(You missed the $10 GS special by about a month...although if you can find a GS w/old stock that forgot to update the price you can still get it for the $10....)
welcome to canada and 45$ MMOs... when I bought L2 about 2 weeks ago, it cost me 40$ at best buy, cuz up here in the frozen north, everything costs about 10$ more ><
If you've got the game installed and have been playing a trial, all you need do when the trial expires is buy a code/card. You then go into your PlayNC account and "Reactivate" the trial with the code/card.
At no time do you ever need a boxed hard copy from a shop.

FYI - You need 'the game' (code) before you can use a 'time card' (code). If she used a trial code to start, she will still need the game code before anything else. (This was a frequent question when the game first started coming out with 'trial accounts'.)
For example: If you buy the (boxed) game at a store, there will be two 'code packs' (sealed papers) inside. The first will be the "Security Card" (aka Seriel#/Game code) and the second will be a "Game Time Card". (This is in addition to another set of trial codes for NCS games, including L2.)
In short,
1)Use Trial Code
2)"Upgrade" the Trial Code to the full game, when time is up. (Security card/seriel number)
3)Add time to the (upgraded) game via the "time card".
It's extra HP for pvp. Ordinarily you need to get through your opponent's CP to get to their HP, but certain dagger skills can bypass CP and eat right through your HP.
