BIG MISUNDERSTANDING

General Discussion Started Last reply 39 posts
Today I came home, attempted to log in to my Lineage 2 account, nothing happened. I go to playNc and it tells me my account has been banned for advertising the sale of in game currency, first response= WTH ARE U SERIOUS!. I have been an honest, loyal, NCsoft customer for over 2 years and i have never violated the rules. Then it hit me, www.l2marketplace.com. (http://www.l2marketplace.com.) I shouted the site address in hopes of gettin more users on the hidemith server. The site name looks very comparable to those sites being yelled by illegal users advertising game currency sites. HOWEVER, this site is not adena selling site, it is clearly an online forum for L2 players to post items they want to buy or sell using IN GAME CURRENCY. I am VERY dissapointed that the GMs did not even investigate this site before banning a loyal customer for over 2 years. It is VERY clear that the site is a perfectly legal online FORUM. I submitted my concerns into the GMs and hopefully the issue will be resolved. If not, my friends will be cancelling their accounts (6 in total) and we will be moving on. Hope all turns out well as I am currently very disappointed.
probably +1 b4 lock, but GL getting your account back
Not specifically directed at the OP, but here's why it takes awhile for NCS to ban bots, and what can happen if someone just rolls out the insta-ban.

However, I'm wondering if you had done your shouting during the time when that site was having some issues with adena-selling sites advertised on the proboards ad-banners?

If so, it's quite likely that they *did* investigate the site, saw those ads, and simply took the next logical step.

At any rate, best of luck to you.
Yes I did do my shouting recently which is when there have been problems with those other "sites". However, this site does not advertise the selling of ingame currency. Also there is a whole thread in this general forum section titled "www.lineage2.marketplace.com" and that thread has not been locked. Thanks I hope I get my account back to, two years down the drain :(
Just make sure to plead your case via [email protected] and make sure you give them details. Direct them to look both at the site in question and at the thread here on the forums.

Direct them to speak with Fierybint about the site (nothing like speaking to the owner of something to find out its agenda).

Good luck.
Thanks jkoster I did all of the above you suggested, hope that helps.
The forum got adds in the beginning but the guy paid money to get an add-free forum. If he got baned for telling ppl about a community-project, no a free-for-all community-project, no its a free-for-all-i-dont-get-paid-but-i-pay-community-project without the GMs even have the smallest clue what l2marketplace could be, Ill say fire the GMs, give him an official excuse and reward him with a white mask.

I cant belive that real sellers posted here on his board for days and the legit ones get banned.
Well, if the reason you posted is correct, its crazy, i just left Witches (teon) because every room had automated chars in it, yep i petition every single one in the first three rooms..

I really think HGMSpan needs a bigger Hammer, and its about time it was +16...
"Select weapon to enchant"
Enchantment has failed. +15 Bigger Ban Hammer has evaporated
+15 Bigger Ban Hammer has been disarmed
Earned 6423 Crystals.
HGMSpam "ahh crap"
I created the www.l2marketplace.com (http://www.l2marketplace.com) forum.
I can only apologise if you've collected a ban for trying to help promote my site. I regret the ads that appeared. I planned to make the board ad free from day one. Google handle the ads and actually handle my payment for cancelling them. Their payment site is very fussy and my original payments were cancelled.
The ads were only visible for about a day and the site has been ad free ever since. I had no control over the ads. Google bots search the proboard sites and link ads in their library with words on the boards. I have complained about the ads with proboards. I will talk to them again.

I have been shouting about my forum in game from day one on many servers. Yes, I realise it could look like one of those dodgy sites when being shouted, but I stress that it has absolutely nothing to do with any illicit dealings.
I had applied for Fan Site status from day one so STAFF are completely aware of my site.
When I get home I will contact STAFF myself and try and help your situation.
Sorry :(
Do they allow you to advertise any site in game? I can totally see how that would look dodgy if the people monitoring it weren't up on who is actually what site.
I accept shouting out one of my two urls could look suspect. I've shouted it out countless times myself with reassurances following soon after.
However, if the OP was banned for shouting out an address, I would hope that STAFF actually looked at the url in question and saw the content of the site before making any decision to ban a bona fide and loyal member of good repute who's paid for 2 years without a problem.
I'm not judging the Staff decision here, I don't know all the circumstances.
I hold my hands up to being a bit naiive about the cynical and suspicious nature of many people in game. When I devised this site I only had good intentions.
Hopefully this situation will be resolved correctly.
I love this game and it would hurt if I was in some way to blame for a fellow player to be deprived of playing.
Hello all,

This issue has been addressed with the account owner. I will leave it at that, as the rest is his business.

Just to clarify, the advertisement of any URL is prohibited by the User Agreement. But we have always been very lenient on these rules for URLs that don't break other User Agreement rules. We do want to foster community; so many URLs are over looked.

Since we have had so many adena seller URLs lately the L2Marketplace URL just got caught up in the sweep this time.

Thanks

I think we can assume that the OP will be getting his account back.

GG (I hope)
I hope you get your account back.
I think NCSoft had him 'disappeared'
If advertising URLs is against rules, how about clans that recruit and edvertise their clan pages?
Crawlerin,

I think I mentioned that in my first post.

To clarify:
The rules say No URLs.

GMs usually ignore URLs that dont break other UA rules. So this would include clan pages, fan sites, and other non-rule breaking sites.

Yes I saw it. So basically it's up to GM to decide if it's clean and 'useful in it's way' for community or gets further attention -> ban.
Well, I just searched the Forum rules, the User Agreement and the Rules of Conduct for the words "url" and "site", but I didnt find the point where it says "you are not allowed to post URLs on the official message boards".

Anyways spam, following this rule would be interesting. No more lousy quest guides by stratics, no more wrong calculaters from guru and no more fake stats from bravehost.

Just the good and always up-to-date official site.
Phewww, good news. IM UNBANNED! Thankfully the NCsoft staff was understanding on the issue and I have learned my lesson- No URLS! Thanks for your input on the issue and thankyou Ncsoft! Im glad I can get back to playing Lineage 2
LOL! I assume that was sarcasm, but I am very proud of every last one of my 80+ lousy guides but I always had a feeling it would be against the rules to shout out any of my own URLs.

Yay! GG
:D :D :D :D :D :D
LOL you renegade shouting URLs for lousy guides :D
We love your guides, it's like underground pamphlets then :D
I think my last 2 sentences are clear Ellie ^.^
Hey hey now this site does have the starting npc of quests with some rewards ;)
Great new about you being reinstated Prospekt !
Thanks for the swift response with this issue HGMspam, I was about to contact NCSoft about my site. Maybe someone in officialdom has looked.
Phew, I can relax.

So will GMs still overlook me if I shout my URLs, or am I a marked person now >.< ?
What if my site was added to the official Fansite list. Could I then point people there to search for it ?
There is a plus point for the official L2 forums here because if my site takes off for trades etc, it will lessen some of your work here :P
.... as for EllieBelly's Stratics, I found it very useful.

I have always found the guides on stratics to be very helpful, don't know what I'd do without them. I mainly use it for class change guides, tho now I have almost every one memorized... yay for academy alts >_<

First time I heard of stratics was ingame shout ;)
This mistake should not really happen again. :)

rofl.. there's a GM out there missing a piece of his ***.

I'm pretty sure Spam is meaning in game, not out of game.

Thats pretty freaking obvious.

Anyway, grats on getting the account back, dont feel too bad, we'd rather NCSoft be overtly active in these shouters then too lax.
which means you have to cover the EULA For it

This mistake should not really happen again. :)

no Biggy, the correct way to solve this problem, a'la NCsoft: everybody that shouts any URL will be banned :D

Interesting.....

When i get the time, i'll have to go over that EULA with a fine tooth comb. And make a listing of the NO-NO's.

This mistake should not really happen again. :)

This mistake, and many others, will most certainly happen again. Frequently.

This isn't banking, it's gaming. NCSoft is not staffed for a really tight environment with built-in abuse prevention.
And, honestly, at first glance, the site's name fairly screams "Buy Adena Here!!".... it's good that the situation was resolved, but I don't fault the GM for his/her zeal.

As a friend of mine says, "Good initiative, poor judgement".
[censored] happens.. at least you got the account back pretty quickly.

I'd rather have them make 10 good calls and 1 oops that gets fixed than not make any good calls at all.

WHICH.. is why I wish the freaking mass bannings would roll through again. please oh HGM Spam.. please!
mass bannings.....soon plz
