Hey, i'm going to make a healer/buffer? What is the best haeler/buffer race? Who is better at buffing? Who is better at healing. Any suggestions would be great.
Yeah, there's no such thing as a best class when it comes to buffs and heals. There's a best for this, and a best for that, etc. So tell people what you're looking to do.
Depends but a bishop is the best healer. Best single buffer is a prophet, best group buffer is a warcrier. Best mage buffer is a shillen elder. Depends on what you wanna do.
Well, buffing classes as primary are WC/Prophet/SE/OL
Healling Class as primary are Bishop/EE
Best Healler is a Bishop, he have many healling skills, and the only one that have greater battle heal.
Best Buffer dont have...there is buffer for each char stile. Like for archers, best is a Prophet, for melees prophet is good, and SE is too cause have vr... WC is also...for mages it depends, if you wanna more matack = SE, if you wanna more cast speed = prophet. WC is a mix betwen prophet and SE.
Well OL is a clan/alliance buffer and EE is a good healler (not as good as bishop) and have some "buffs" like advanced shield and Resist Shock (not very good as prophet/wc/SE) and have clarity (decrease mana cost for spells)
SE heals are par until level 60'ish. After that you really want to retire as a healing class, except for extreme circumstances. Greater heal adds a regen to the buffbar and some people are **** about that. Heal and Battle Heal start to become ineffective then. Your best healing spell is Vampiric Rage, Lol. They get good melee buffs and the best nuker buff (Greater Empower 3), but they don't get any haste spell. Elders can recharge. They get the Invocation skill.
Elven Elder gets Major Heal and they are good healer, especially with their nice cast speed. They get some of the best defensive buffs in the game, as well as Clarity, which aformentioned, reduces the MP cost of spells. They are elders, so have the recharge skills. They get Prophecy of Water at end-game, which nukers love :) They get the Invocation skill.
Overlords are useless outside of Clan/Alliance. You will basically have to either have it in clan (take up space that can be used by another active main) or create your own mini-clan to have full use of its buff. If you are not clanned up with the OL, half of its buff will not even hit you. They have okay buffs, though - not anything to write home about.
Warcryers are very nice. They buff the whole group at one time. They get many of the same buffs as SEs and Prophets, but many of them come at later levels. They also get Vampiric Rage. You don't have to be in a clan or Alliance to fully utilize this buffer.
Prophets are the supreme buffers of the game. They get almost every useful offensive/defensive buff in the game except a few (Empower/Clarity/Vampiric Rage). They get every resist buff available, also. It really hurts to have to play such a tunnel vision class. You will spend much of your leveling buffing in Karmian/BW with a Homu/Acumen. Oh well. At least you don't have to worry about gear price woes... :) It's a shame they don't get the Invocation skill, Lol. GG NCSoft...
Bishops are the supreme healers of the game, getting the best heals and some sub-par buffs except Body of Avatar (which is basically Blessed Body). They get both Major Heal and Greater Battle Heal. They get the Invocation skill. Most high level raids won't commense without Bishops.
Calling EE buffs crappy is just stupid and ignorant. Ever needed stun resist? Clarity? I could go on but no point in beating a dead horse so to say..
That said, Bishop is the best healer, no questions asked. Best buffer depends so much on the situation and classes involved that it's impossible to say.
EE buffs are great and perpetually underrated. For levelling, of course, they are poor by themselves. An EE shines most clearly next to a full buffer, their buffs, heals and recharges making them the perfect partner for a WC.
The best healer is not only probably but definitely the Bishop, although for most 'standard' groups up to but not including end game, they are not required, as an EE can replace them with fair ease.
Best buffs depend - SEs get the most well rounded sets of buffs, heals and cures, but since that's a very small well rounded set, it's essentially not worth much.
Prophets have a huge selection of useful buffs, offering just about every resist in the game except Stun (which is EE only) - but they lack one essential buff for mages (Empower) and one for melees (VR) which cripples them as a buffer.
WCs have the most powerful buff in game (Chant of Victory) and all neccessary buffs for a melee to level (Focus, Haste, DW, Guidance, VR), but they are lacking the whole line of resists.
IMHO for a solid buffer, go WC (prophet is a long, painful and eye-stabbing route), for a good healer go bishop. Avoid SEs in their current state (you always think it can only go up from this point, and then it goes down again :p ), EEs and Prophet's are acquired tastes.
Is this a 2nd Box account?
SE (mage, polearm class) or Prophet (archer)
Is this a main?
Warcryer (buffs), Bishop(heals), EE (bit of everything)
I disagree with the EE not being a buffer... Stun resist is invaluable in some places... clarity is just plain godly and its very nice to have someone else dish out Might3 and Shield3 and Mental Shield. Remember, EEs bring a combo of Healing/Ressing and recharge along with their buffs.
EEs have some decent buffs at higher levels, but along with OL's you'all always be "the other buffer". Both are lacking too many essential buffs to be the only buffer of a pt, so EE is a healer and the few buffs they can cast are just extra stuff they can do.
WC is the fotm buffer for archers and melees. SE is the buffer for mages.
WC is better than PP, but PP + SE is better than WC. At least until CoV at 78.
For healers, Bishops are more usefull for large stuff such as raids, but the difference between EE and bishops is very slight. Except the Bishop can be recharged while the EE can't anymore.
WC+SE+EE > PP+SE+Bishop in mose XP parties I've been in.
WC = Group Buffer, Melee/Spell Damage
SE = VR/Emp, Recharge Mages/WC, Melee/Root/WindShackle, Backup (Emergency) Healer
EE = Clarity/Resist Shock/Tank Buffs, Main Healer
Both SE and EE have Invocation, so damage shouldn't be a problem.
If you think Resist Shock is useless then head on over to TOI and go up a few floors and come back.
Prophets don't have enough utility to warrant a spot in any group I'm in, though. They're too "tunnel vision". They have BtB/BtS which is usefull but not needed in any of the places where I've grouped (Witches, ToI 5-8 Floor, WoA, etc.). I've heard Unholy Resist works wonders in pole groups, though.
If you mean strictly for heals there's no slight about it.
Bishop heals: heal, battle heal, group heal, greater heal, greater group heal, greater battle heal, major heal, major group heal, restore life, vitalize, balance life, benediction, body of avatar.
EE heals: heal, battle heal, group heal, greater heal, major heal, vitalize.
I just proved that. Was spoiling with a friend in Antharas' Lair and was going fine (even with SE healing), but the minute I brought my other toon and reverted her back to buff/heal bot we died :( I suck.

Prophets' main forte is resistances. Resist Fire in VOS, Unholy Resistance in DVC or a catacomb, Invigor in FotD, ... there's no other class that always has the right resist at hand.
The problem you describe for prophets is really one that applies to SE - they don't have a single unique buff (although admittedly empower is unique for most of their carreer), and someone does everything they do better.
Maline, I'm sure everyone is running to level those Domnators up to level 77 to get Greater Empower 3. Empower is unique enough, and it doesn't require you to be in the same alliance as the buffer to get it.
Resist buffs can be gotten from other classes, unless you refer to signature third class skills (Elemental Protection, for example). But I've rarely been in a situation where you needed more than 1 resist (barring resist shock, which is almost always good) and needed a prophet - WC+EE or EE+SE is a much better combination. Anything other than the odd resist buff can be gotten from a cheap L2Day or a potion/herb.
The only groups I've seen in Valley of Saints are Nukers leveling up their buffbots to upgrade the buffs/recharge. I need to get mine WM soon :(
We can only assume that you can more readily obtain a 100-200k scroll than you could obtain an Empower buf from a 77 Dominator, for the most part :) I'll give you the same for Greater Empower 3 (L2Day), but the scroll isn't as cheap :) I wonder why...
Prophet = Most unneeded buffer class in most situations you will meet in the game, which is why they are the most boxxed class in the game atm. They lack versatility, they lack utility, they lack fun factor.
It's alot easier to not need a PP than it is to not need any other buffer/healer class in the game, that's why they are usually soulless/OOP, etc.
I see alot of boxxed PPs. Almost every archer I know has a boxxed PP, and many other melee/tank players that I know have boxxed PPs. They like their free haste/resist buffs for PvE/PvP.
There are alot more active SEs than there are active PPs - alot more.
As I said, try the spots I named with and without resists - you'd be surprised. And no, nobody else has resist fire or invigor - and if you take someone else for resist aqua you're off on one as well, since the other class that gets it is a SpS, not exactly a party animal.
Most melees and mages that box box a SE for Emp/VR.
And of course if you're asking about live characters - you can just roll a prophet and easily box the SE for VR3 and Emp3 OOP. :p
I think, for boxing, which seems to be the role of atleast 50% of buffers today. SE is the best. You may get haste etc with the prophet, but it can't heal you. SE how ever is a breeze for any melee or nuker. VR for melee. You may kill slower if you don't get potions, but the hp return from melee is just so nice. Hardly ever have to multitask. For casters, well.. again with the potions and Empower + recharge is just god sent.
Prophet heals aren't considerably worse than SEs' - but they don't get VR. It really all comes down to lack of recharges, VR, purify and empower. For a melee, I'd still honestly go for the prophet, if only because of the flexibility it offers for "soloing-with-a-box-in-tow" and there are various classes that you could group to compensate for what the prophet lacks.
On the other hand, there is no alternative class that can do what a prophet can and what the other buffers lack. :p
"and there are various classes that you could group to compensate for what the prophet lacks"
The whole point of the "soloing with a box in tow" playstyle is that you don't have to share the XP with the "box". Inviting other players to group with you is negating the advantage of having the box to begin with. Mind as well invite a Live prophet to begin with - if you can find one.
An SE is a better healer than a PP, period. In the long run, a PP will be alot less efficient than an SE healing. They can be recharged, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I recharge a PP healer just cause someone thinks they are as good a healer as an SE (or not considerably worse) - or because the PP decides he wants to heal. Like someone said, have a good setup and do some dmg, it's what I do on my SE when there's a Bishop in the group - undoubtedly a superior healer and worthy of my Recharge, if his/her Invocation is down...
Enjoy poling with your PP healer that lacks VR, Invocation, and is most likely outfitten in a Karmian Set with a Homu/Acumen. He/She will go OOM faster than he/she does buffing. Imba skill VR is just icing on the cake.
You've never been in a group that used OOP buffs? The advantage doesn't lessen when the second person you take with you is a second DD or somesuch.
What heal does an SE have to offer in a group that the prophet doesn't? They don't have vitalise, they don't have major heal. I.e., they, just like the prophets have the pre-35 heals, which the prophets cast a fair bit faster. If you're letting an SE use greater heals, you should consider why that is - probably because they don't actually have enough useful buffs to make you run into a risk of overbuffing. That doesn't mean they don't exist.
Yes, VR is nice - but that doesn't make you a healer, it makes you a buffer with VR. It is without doubt that this is a central buff that is lacking in the prophet's setup - just like poling in places you could with buffs like Unholy Resistance and greater might/shield without them is impossible, poling without VR is impossible places as well.
Yes, SEs are nice. Yes, VR is overpowered.
No, SEs these days do not have better heals than prophets (and haven't had significantly better heals than a prophet for AoE for a while - greaters aren't spammable, and an SE falls back to battleheal and therefore OOM much faster than a prophet).
No, the differences between their buffsets after emp and VR are not negligible. BtB may not matter, BtS is sorta meh (depends on the group - I'd want it for RBs and when starting rifts). But then there's the resists. And resist unholy level 1 can make the difference between running an SE out of MP while healing (polearm group, so yes, they had VR from the SE) and not doing so. I see the bars moving with VR, I'm a healer. If you are poling, a good defensive buff like Song of Wind or Unholy Resistance can make almost as much of a difference as VR.

There are places where VR isn't really needed for poling. TK+WL+PP+EE group in ABG, for example, won't benefit from VR at all.
Maybe I need to fraps a pole session to show Maline that even up to level 60 or so, an SE can heal in a pole group, vacuum the living room, cook supper, and do dishes at the same time no problem (obvious sarcasm). Prophet cast speed is a non-factor because you don't need to spam Battle healer as an SE to keep someone alive in Branded/Apostate poling - well, maybe on the prophet.
I am more than sure the Prophet will run OOM and have to sit a while before the SE is done for. SEs have infinitely better mana management than Prophets in the form of VR/Invocation.
And yes, every melee in clan has a PP box, so I've had OOP buffs. Another PP box just graduated the academy the other day.
We do have one live prophet in clan, but... Well, you get the picture.
WC+SE+EE > PP+SE+Bishop in mose XP parties I've been in.
WC = Group Buffer, Melee/Spell Damage
SE = VR/Emp, Recharge Mages/WC, Melee/Root/WindShackle, Backup (Emergency) Healer
EE = Clarity/Resist Shock/Tank Buffs, Main Healer
Both SE and EE have Invocation, so damage shouldn't be a problem.
If you think Resist Shock is useless then head on over to TOI and go up a few floors and come back.

Maybe this will change in a few levels.
So yes, I have grouped in those places. We brought a EE as main healer and with me casting [Greater] Group Heal with had no problems whatsoever. The EE has resist shock (adn they get Unholy Resist too).
I doubt a PP will be as useful as an SE there, all things considered (and the PP in clan comes with us when we go there in clan groups - usually close to OOM after buffing, so either I can recharge him to use his heals or I can use my own while he does his thing [sitting to regen]).
Greater Group Heal? Didn't get enough decent buffs, I suppose. o.O Just with a prophet and a BD and some OOP SE for VR you should be out of slots for that.
What heal does an SE have to offer in a group that the prophet doesn't? They don't have vitalise, they don't have major heal. SE get greater heal at 48 (+group version). Very slow cast speed ofcourse, which makes them useless in pvp. But never the less, its a great heal.
Also, if your typical duo setup. SE and a melee toon (not counting pole). SE has a great flow. VR + Wind Shackle is an awesome combo to use in normal exp. The WS slows the mob down and the VR can usually heal every hit the mob does after that.
SE are just the best small party healers, period. Excluding pvp.
SE get greater heal at 48 (+group version). Very slow cast speed ofcourse, which makes them useless in pvp. But never the less, its a great heal.
In a good group, using greater heals will typically knock off a buff that is a lot more important than a tiny little bit of heal per second. It is not a "great heal", and it most certainly will not be welcome in a properly buffed group.
