DC set is a common 2nd choice to the maj, but the problem is that you have this extra mp, but use it faster and dont hit as hard when compared to the maj/soul bow combo. given the choice maj is infinitely better than DC for the stun resist. and if your that concerned with mp, get a BoP or soul bow w/ CS.
I'm still trying to figure out why some view Maj LA better than PL set. Yes, I know Maj's bonuses, but at least at the early levels of A grade, PL works just fine for me (especially with buffs, etc.). Even in FOTD, where you'd think the lower pdef would work against you. Maybe when I get to higher levels I'll change???
That said, if you're going to choose an A grade armor, might as well pick the best one for archers. Go Maj.
Although I play with an HE, which is vastly different from a PR or a SR, Maj is still the best armor for any archer class. I've tried all the armors out there, including IC (Yes, it looked ridiculous, but sort of cool at the same time, lol). Maj is the set you *want*. It's very much worth it, even if it does look a bit cheesy..
i think Maj is deffinetly the better choice, if u can afford it, but DC is deffinetly a cheaper alterative. and if u can, go for a soulbow, the p.atk difference is just to much
soulbow = 528
carnage = 440
but the big diffence is, being an SR is the atk.spd
so i would say go for what u want.
are the difference in attack speed from carnage to soulbow that great?
I can only reference an HE's attack speed. At B grade I used a BOP with QR. The BOP is rated as "slow" as is the Carnage Bow. With QR on the BOP, toss in haste and rapid shot, you get a very quick release. Fast enough to drop two fast running orcs and knock an arrow before the third one hits you.
The Carnage is rated slow, but it doesn't offer Quick Recovery as one of it's SA's. Given it's low p.atk, I'm not quite sure why anyone chooses it over an overenchanted BOP.
The SoulBow is rated at "very slow". I always OE first before putting on an SA, so I had an opportunity to see what that attack speed felt like on the naked SB. I attacked a Doom Knight at max range, and I barely got off the second arrow before the Doomie was in my face. Very slow means "VERRRRRY SLOOOOOW." But add QR and toss in the aforementioned buffs and I can now get off 3 arrows, which is all it takes for me to kill a Doom, and get off one shot before the second charging Doom hits me. Usually.
Naturally an SR should be able to fire arrows much faster than the HE, so your results should differ.

I was toying around with my BD's Tallum Heavy Set and the OE Soul Bow/QR when a Hierophant buffed me with Prophecy of Fire. This is my first time getting the buff, so naturally my reaction was, "OMG!!!" My p.atk was 3002 and my attack speed was 566. It was the perfect confluence of speed and power. For the brief time that the Hierophant buff lasted, I was in PVE heaven.
But it was only a glmpse. Now I'm trying to figure out how long it will take me to level my PP to 78 so that I can have that buff on a regular basis.

If you start playing your prophet full time, you might get there by the end of the year. Maybe?
