Depends mostly on how fast you want to get into A grade and how cheap A grade is...some A grade is cheaper than B grade theses days. :/
A shots are more expensive as well, so if that is an issue, planning to use a B weapon for part of A grade is another issue to consider.
In practice, you could pretty much go through B grade with the DS without much of a problem. (My Destroyer is rolling through C grade with just a +3 Flamberge:Focus.)
Shadow weapons are like normal (no SA, No augment, no +'s) weapons except they have a timer. (300 mana = 5 Hours) At ~80-100K per 5 hours it can be useful if you just want to bypass a weapon grade without having to invest in a weapon. (Cheaper as well.) If your not sure, just buy one and try it out until it runs out. (Keep your DS for this.) At these levels 100K shouldn't break your bank at all. (If it does you've got other problems!)
Shadow weapons weigh very little as well. So you can carry 'an extra' with few drawbacks. (My Destro has a shadow Poleaxe as an 'alternate' to the Flamberge.)
Hmm I guess for now i'll stick with what I have and see how it goes. Maybe when my Warsmith starts making more money I'll upgrade... but that dwarf has been very lazy these days ><
What I recommend doing, is do not buy doom light, buy Plated Leather, it is C grade but it is much cheaper then B grade and has an awesome set bonus to take you all the way to A grade. With that set bonus you would be doing a lot of damage with your C grade dagger anyways.
Actually i've seen doom light cheaper than a PL set.
Me too.
A good way to keep C grade light armor through B grade is to use the Theca set with a B grade helmet and B grade gloves. You will actually have nearly the same pdef as doom while still being in mostly C grade. Definitely upgrade weapon before armor though.
