We are trying to decide wether to switch L2 Stratics from its current design to 1024x768 fixed width resolution. WoW Stratics has already been switched to this http://wow.stratics.com/ , but I am worried that if we did it for L2, the quest lists and quest guides would become narrow, especially since there's a lot of screenshots in them.
So this is where I ask you guys and gals about what you prefer (Stay the way it is or fixed width) and if you can, please state what resolution you normally view Stratics at.
I feel ppl make some of the screen shots are way too big anyways. Need a lot of editing (you don't always need a huge screen to explain the particular quest step you are on). But even so, when the images stretch out the center table column, it just pushes the right column off of the screen for me. No loss. Only useful item there for me is the login.
A lot of people put a lot of work into the guides and articles in Stratics, so maybe you'd prefer all the tons of quest content and up to date documents on this site eh?
I don't like fixed widths on websites, I run 1280x1024.
As long as it works in Mozilla engines and is readable, floating is fine for me :)
(Yeah I remember times when wdth was set by visual basic script and worked only in IE hehe)
I run at 1024*768 and don't intend to change that until I update my video card + monitor setup anyway. (17" 'Flat' CRT) I've tried higher resolutions (I can go up to 1920*1200) but for the desktop (WinXP) higher resolutions just make things harder to see instead of look nicer. In games, 1024*768 is my 'safe minimum' but I'll crank that up a bit depending on game performance. (ATI 9550, so not a huge amount of headroom on newer games.)
There's always one on every server and it looks like you're it. Stratics is a great site and has helped me out loads when I've been usure whether a quest is worth the trouble and what is the best way to go about it.
And in answer to ops question I personally think it's fine as it is, I can open it without issue on any computer (PC and Mac) so to me it's fine. As the saying goes 'If it ain't broke .......' :D
