I have been playing mmo's for a good 10 years id say now. Im a very big fan of the hard to play but very good class. I much apreciate a good hybrid that takes alot of work but in the end is basicly woopass all over. Im also a big mele fan so if there are any suggestions pls let me know, im also thinking human for the race if that helps.
I suggest you look here. (http://www.lineage2.com/Knowledge/race_human_skill.html)
and read up on the skills, and pick one, from my experiance playing chars that other people tell you work, ends up in frustration and not what you had in mind. Sorry thats not really an answer. :/
Well my suggestion would be that you choose to be a Gladiator. Though those guys are kinda hard/boring to lvl up and mediocre at high levels they are one of the top characters for PVP.And it is melee fyi :)
TH, also human and fits the woopass picture.
There's really no "Hybrid" in humans per say. If your talking about Nuker/Melee thats prob DE. SK's come to mind right off the bat. But if your talking Ranged/Melee yeah TH is the way to go. TH gets enough Bow skills to make him a usefulin PVE and in sieges from a distance.
Want a challenging class that is hard to play!?? There is only two classes that come to mind that can lay down "woopass" once you learn what you are doing. Neither are human, and neither are technically melee, although they are sorta melee...and generally use blunt magical weapons.

1.) Orc Warcryer
2.) Orc Overlord

Yep! Prepare to unleash carnage upon anyone, even a couple levels higher than you. You have skills that render people useless, take their health for your own, damage over time, melee stun skills, and not to mention buffs! Not just any buffs either warcryers get buffs that buff whole parties at the same time, and overlords get buffs that buff whole alliances and clans (not parties really) at the same time.

If you just starting out, warcryer would probably be better since you will get parties more often since you can give them buffs, whereas a Overlord needs a pretty big clan around your levels to be worthwhile.

But these classes can be difficult to level. And you have to know your class and your skills inside and out if you want to be good.

I have never played these classes, I just know from my own experience on being on the receiving end...lol.
Casey, are you a solo type player or do you think you will play in groups most of time?

Not know this, I still suggest the Warcryer or Gladiator. Both are very versatile characters and fun to play all the way to end game. Try the warcryer, they are a lot of fun, you can solo with them too.
Yeah I would suggest warcryer aswell. I know you dont want a magic class, but they arent really in the same ballpark as the rest of the "mystics".

I recommend you make one of those.
