i'm looking for a good town that will have lots of people with player made D grade items, even if too expensive at the moment i want to look around to see what prices are like and compare. so far, i started in dark elf city - have had a little luck at dion, and giran castle town.
Dion and Giran should be the best places, but the only d-grade people usually sell is top-d. If you want to buy one of the lower items you should check out the weapon shop in Giran and then you can upgrade it with Ancient Adena later.
When you hunt in catacombs and necropolis you get seal stones (green,red,blue). You can trade those in at the dawn/dusk priest in town for ancient adena.
Dion is usually overpriced on Gustin, take a look around Giran first - though people usually sell higher grade items there, sometimes youcan find D too.

Just keep in mind, only Weapons can be upgraded or exchanged at Mammon. (Exchange is free, upgrade is not.) And selling top D and buying C at the Luxury shop is cheaper than upgrading a D weapon to C through Mammon.
Also be aware! Upgrade is only available for D and C grade weapons. For B grade the only thing you can do is swap a non-Fist weapon for a Fist weapon. (You CAN'T undo this exchange!)
Armor cannot be upgraded or exchanged at mammon. Although you will need him to unseal/seal armor (at a cost) above B grade. (B grade is done in town for free.)
