Fields covered in gold

Pretty much what my subject says. What is this phenomenon
the result of??? Is it people just power leveling through? Powerful PC's farming for something? Bots? I'm new, so it's a first for me to see all this aden on the ground and no other PC's nearby to take it. At first I thought it was some sort of practice where PC's would destroy an area then collect their goods after. But now that im about to hit 20th lvl, im seeing gold fields everywhere. What's that all about?

~ PennyDreadful
Power leveling by ppl that do not need the dropped adena for their own reasons ;) All you can do is collect the adena if the farmer is not there, if he is there and you want to be polite ask him if he wants the drops and gather them. This way you will free the server from some lag as the adena filled fields are causing serious lag spikes
Usually other players alts drops from powerleveling, almost always a ranged character. If no one is there, pick it all up and enjoy. If someone is sitting there, ask first, sometimes they will let you pick up after them and you get to keep it all.
Great & thanks. Yeah, I'd actually tried that once at 12th & the person just ignored me. So I waited a bit (Hour) and said hell with it, & cleared the field. Thanks for the quick replies,
I'll keep these things in mind then.
Pick it up, free adena!

VoS is the best... made over 500k in an hour once just picking up after a nuker had left.
I just spam pick up, last time I did that someone encouraged me to do so. I didn't ask first though ;) I figured if it's a bot, they won't care. If it's a real player, they obviously don't care either.
If someone has left adena and drops on the ground and has left, then pick them up. Sometimes there are players who are just levelling a new character and they don't need the adena dropped. Remember always to ask and check if there is anyone around. Picking up other players' drops/adena is not polite neither a noble thing to do.

What i have is a ingame macro for that.

Saves time and it's just one key press :)
Just hold the pickup key down and click nearby on the ground, so called vaccuum cleaner :)

There are 3 cases in which players leave Adena:
1. ranged twinked alt or reroll, who needs to get XP ASAP and walking to pick every drop just slows him/her down.
2. badly set third party program
3. or set like that on purpose, so it picks only specific drops and leaves rest untouched. Usually arrows and recipes are being ignored, as they eat space and cause overweight.
I dont think ive picked up any adena in a lonnggg time, or any drops lol

when u got 1bil in ur inventory no need!! lol
I always bank on people who level this way... but it's not like it doesn't serve a purpose.

(And Toke... I hate you and your god **** homus. The prices crashed and burned for +10s-+14s because of you)

As for why.... not picking up drops with a nuker increases your exp rate two fold. The chance that someone would come by and take it is definately worth it. You need to take a pk or two... but at worst you lose a few hundred K gold for a massive exp bonus.
god forbid, party a live buffer and let them pick it up

Hehe, yeah its getting increasingly hard to sell them, Ill only go so low, maybe I will hold onto the ones I have left till the market picks back up. It would help to save them for festivals in a few days.....

And hes SO right, nukers level wayyyy faster if you dont pick up!! Its just smarter to exp like this...
Then I am neither polite nor noble. I can handle that.

It's not polite to leave your crap lagging everyone up either ;)
They should make it so stuff disappears like the pots that drop from mobs, after a certain amount of time.

They do... LOL

It's called a server crash :p
This has been discussed so many times it is not funny. You have people they say ask first and you have peolpe that grab as much as you can till you get pked. I will always pick up drops unless there is just a few just in case the guy pulled to many mobs. Every drop left on the grounds is another bit of data for the server to handle. When you have fields of fields left on th ground it can and does lag the game servers and not just individuals (sp) computers.
If i ever see adeana on the floor i pick it up, i dont ask i just take. Way i see it if the person wanted it shoulda picked it up in the first place and as they didnt its a free for all :) Can try PK if they wish :)

Yeah... but I've been trying to sell my +11 for so long... and every time I find a buyer (last time being Yiazmat) you always undercut me by about 20m. And now the price is so low (67m for a +10 wth) it's not even worth selling/ making any more.

I don't like to steal buffers away from full parties just to duo.
The reason people don't pick up their drops is because the amounts are often times ridiculously low and not worth the time to pick up. At level 40 I took 15 mins to clean up an adena field I had made and got 300k. To a low-leveler that sounds good, but at 75+ I lose more than that from shots/pots per hour while hunting, so I'd rather level faster and lose a ridiculously cheap amount of money.

My suggestion is this: ask first and grab away if you get a yes or silence.

If I'm doing an adena field somewhere and someone comes by and starts picking up drops, I tend to get some karma quickly because I figure it's a badly-programmed bot. I say STOP! and if the person doesn't stop within a few secs, they get a free trip to town.

If someone asks, though, I'll often let them take the drops unless I intend to clean up later. But usually I either pick up immediately or leave them on ground forever.
Hi Kata I think on remember you from Erica. How is it there now? I anded up moving to Bartz to play but played Sieg, Dev, Teon and even tried franz for fun. I even took some drops from PR well they were SP back then. They were powere leveling one of their clannies by Ivory Tower and I managed to get a couple mil in adena and a bunch of mats and parts before they dropped me.
You will find those a LOT in FoD. That is where there are tons of monsters and they are all aggressive. I would kill stuff for hours, then have my EE pick all the drops up at once and clean the field. Usually took him about 15-20 minutes to do. Don't listen to the people that say when a drop falls on the ground anyone can take it. You can take it if you want... but you might also be taking a 4% loss as well. ALWAYS ask first! :)

Totally agree.

I mind as well XP with a PvP servitor if I'm going to run in every direction picking up drops (making me have to run even more to nuke the next mob, many times).

There was just a thread about this, a little over a week ago.

Search works.

Not only that. Most of these people wouldn't dare bring their main over to one of these areas and steal drops from people. Instead, they have their alts come. Only one person has come on their main (an SPS) and actually talked smack while she stole my drops and I asked her to leave.

I now follow her around the world PKing her at sight. Soon enough, she will have the **** to apologize and stop stealing drops. I've gotten her about 8 times so far (yes, I do Sin Eater religiously - so never over 5 PKs).

I've had people run and camp out after I've attacked them for stealing drops. And you can ask them, I don't mind pulling an all-nighter waiting for you to log back in.

You'll lose your 4%, sooner or later.

Or all you academy members/alts/etc. will pay the grief. I have absolutely no tolerance for it. If you're that broke, I won't mind giving you some adena, but don't come in my area spamming pickup (if you don't like me calling it my area, do something about it :) ). I'm too nice to have to tolerate this kind of rudeness from other people. And, no, I don't lag from adena fields - people acting like adena fields are the apocalypse.
You know what's wrong with free loot?

Not a ****ed thing.
Hrm...

It costs you 4% :p
If I have time, I'll go to a starter town or low level village and try to find someone to come along with me to pick up the drops. I warn them that they might die from high level mob aggro, but if they stay within my kill range, they'll usually be ok and get a headstart on their next equipment upgrade.

Otherwise, I appreciate it if folks ask me first. I may or may not let others have the drops. It depends on their degree of courtesy, not mine.
It has yet to cost me any XP cleaning up adena fields.
Heh and even if it did, if you are on a level 20 or something, who cares. ;)
Pick it up Penny.
This has been asked many times now and as far as I'm concerned, if anyone leaves money all over the place, they should expect someone to come along and take it.
If you're new, it can mean some easy money and possibly help you with that next purchase.
Obviously if someone is there then it would be wise to ask. Otherwise, being a long range attack player, they might take you out too.
You guys all gave me a thought. I just rerolled to Bartz. I think Ill take my level 10 noob I just made last night and go clean up some high level fields. Ill be sure to to take my pk protection buff with me. Will just have to watch out for mobs. :p
Does that buff help if the attacker isn't chaotic already? By the sounds of it, it only protects against reds. But it wouldn't be unheard of, if it was just poorly worded :p
Not sure yet. I do plan to try it later. I will let ya know.
That'd be good to know.

true, but I do enjoy killing those who come around in their shiny B or A grade

I really like this thread. It gives away lot of info about players' attitudes and morals.
I'm with you on this, Trens. :D

Morals? funny. So the guy running around my hunting spot picking up my adena is doing the "Honorable" thing and help the server?

My advise, if you are playing L2 and are bombarded by lag and server spikes, here's a novel idea, how about switch your old 56K Dial up service for something more upto date!

Or how about stop being all "noble" (actually more like Greedy) and look for another place to xp.

I don't know about you, but when I level a noob alt, I don't care for the adena drops. When I level my main, and I'm trying to do as much as I can before the buffs run out,so I'll pick up the drops when I'm good and ready, not when you want me to, and especially not cause some melee or buffer toons comes up and starts picking things up. News flash, Ranged Classes loose more xp/hour picking up drops than leaving them for a while and picking up at the end of the grind session. Another Newsflash, Weapon drop was one thing that held a lot of peopple from going red. Now since the the weapon no longer drops when augmented, and even things such as A/g helms are dirt cheap, bring it and your noble ideas to save the server of adena lag =)

Hrm...

It costs you 4% :p

Might cost my lvl 40 TH alt 4%, but if you do that enough, it'll cost you 20 mins of xp & sp.

You must be in the same cattegory of people who bring 2 or more characters to their fight or if your a real pansy, it would be at least 1 naked High lvl, and another Fully outfitted High level toon, that way, you don't die on your low lvl noob alt . A low lvl toon to entice a fight, and a Fully outfitted A/S grader when the other guy flags.

I miss seeing you guys in noob areas. Last time I fell for that when I flagged on what actually turned out to be a naked A grade PS, with his B grade BD lurking in the shadows to come and join the gank party. GF, you've successfully beaten a lvl 11 DE noob alt. I guess that's one way you'll increase your PvP count =)

It's ok, there's nothing wrong with that, I guess. Stand up and be counted!

Forget is a Necromancer skill that causes a mob to stop attacking you. Basically, it makes the mob drop agro - and it's quite dependable, due to Necromancer Gloom skill (lower's M.Def by 23pct) and the fact that is has about as fast a recharge as Curse: Fear (which is very fast with A Grade cast speed).

Flash of Splendor is a very agro nuker mob in Valley of Saints that nukes A Graders with +3 Black Ore jewelry for over 700 damage. NG/DG toons will be 1 shot by it. All I have to do is Gloom from Max Range and it will run up to nuke me (600 range on it's nuke) at which time I will cast forget on it and it will [80% of the time] instantly de-agro me and then agro you [spamming pickup and moving around] and 1-shot you.

I usually buff the mobs with Greater Empower 3 and Wind Walk for good measure, also. I can train higher level toons with agro mobs all day, and it gets even fun when they fight back, cause I can then bring the blades (splitting, porting, dagger mobs) and Wisdom (cast uncurable DoT that hurts) on top of them and just do the Forget trick.

Necros can pull nice trains in catacombs on Bot groups with Transfer pain 3+ and Forget, also. It sucks when you forget the mobs and they all go for the healer :(

4% is about 10 minutes. I can get 0.5% a minute if grinding casually. So it's worth it.

And I have friends too.

Bring your main, IMO. It's funner.

EDIT: When did people start losing SP when they died?

Okay. Before I continue reading your reply, I should tell you that you got it all wrong. My very first post reflects *my* morals, and you are smacking the wrong person here. Because I agree with both Trens' first post (who does not allow anyone to steal his drops) and yours. Now, can we take it from the beginining again?
My responce wasn't directed at you Noldor. It was directed to those who are of the opinion that just cause it's on the ground, it's free for all and they shouldn't even bother asking if I want them to pick up my drops.

For the record, if someone is nice and actually asks if they can pick up the drops, more ofthen then not, I'll say yes. But if you come in thinking it's free w/o bothering to ask me, then we have a problem.
Thanks for the clarification, Admiral.
Aye, and I agree with what you said IRT other players' attitudes and morals.

It's funny though, cause if you PK them after they kill a bot - per se - most get extremely angry despite the general consensus that red = murder and you deserve a 4% if you're red.

I like combing the catacombs looking for "bot-killers". General player attitude/moral standings is really turning me into not such a nice person. I lose 1% of my empathy everytime I read posts defending these ideals, and I'm almost out.
I can understand if you have adena after a battle and someone picks it up, but if you leave a field of gold and loot, go somewhere else, and come back and expect it to be there or not being pillaged through, you're not facing facts of reality. :|
Let's face it: picking up someone else's loots while they are hunting just because they haven't picked it up yet HAS to do with morals and attitudes, whether you like the word or not.

Killing reds is another story.

I can understand if you have adena after a battle and someone picks it up, but if you leave a field of gold and loot, go somewhere else, and come back and expect it to be there or not being pillaged through, you're not facing facts of reality. :|

Charlene, I think you've misessed the point of this entire thread.

In a brief, clear summary:

If you see a field full of gold <and> you see someone exping on it, either leave it alone, or ask if you can pick up.

If you see an <empty> field full of gold, then knock yourself out picking it all up.

Correctly stated. Just treat others like you wanna be treated. The poor little OP at lvl 20 is gonna have a nervous breakdown after reading this whole thread.

To the OP: You'd be surprised how many will say "take it" if you ask.
When I went to Outlaw forest the first time a boxed player was there with so much adena and drops I almost choked! I pm'd (cause I was pretty poor), "um, are you gonna leave all that"...the person not only said "help yourself" they also told me when they would be exping there later.
In 3 days I probably picked up 1 million in adena and other mats besides--with her blessing. It sure made a difference for me at that time.

I also got over a million in 3 nights once on Alligater Isle--no one was even around ever while I was picking up. Best of all I get some els blades which sold well too.

I've also started picking up, noticed a player regening/recovering after a few minutes, gone to them, dropped all the stuff and said, "sorry, didn't see you there".
That's happened a couple times and the player usually pm's a "thanks". Once a guy found me in town and gave me the 80k or so back!!!

Not all players are jerks or nasty. I think it starts with yourself. Treat others reasonably and it tends to work out that you receive reasonable treatment back (except for the few *******).
A player pming you back saying, "actually, leave the adena, I intend to pick it up myself" isn't an ******! If you take it after that warning you'd better be able to handle what comes next (lol).
~D~
This game is all about cause and effect, or 'so what are you going to do about it' and rank and file. If I'm on my sub looking for reds around Dion and find people leaving drops all over, I may be inclined to pick it up. If some "nobody" starts griping they are more than welcome to flag on me, which would be dumb, or call higher levels or log a higher level to come kick my butt. IMO it's no more complicated than that.

Now I seriously don't do that but if I did I'd accept what's coming to me because of my actions ;) It's a pvp GAME, and "right" or "wrong" really comes down to what sort of trouble you may get your bunch of pixels in later on.

I've had people run and camp out after I've attacked them for stealing drops. And you can ask them, I don't mind pulling an all-nighter waiting for you to log back in.

Wow, you need a life. Seriously. While the other guy is off sleeping or working you're sitting there chewing on your fingers waiting for them to login.
lvl up a char that has silent move (and fake death), then go into imperial tomb or other places where PvP always ocur and pick up the adena at the fields where no one is at because they have been killed in PvP or BSOE'd.

I have made almost 10m from that the last few weeks.

I never pick up if anyone is hunting at a spot and if I see a material or recipe that I badly need I always ask if it's ok that I pick it up and if I don't see anyone in the area and start to pick up the loot and have a guy running to me telling me to stop picking up the loot because he had to go afk for few minutes (phone, bathroom brake, getting something to drink etc etc...) and that the field is his then I always leave.

They almost always log back in... Always. Greed is to irrisitible, and they usually has about as much a life as I do.

Tren, how long does it take you to pull a Flash of Splendor from VOS to the first room in Imperial Tomb? I think that the idea is perfect. No aggro mobs there at all. Ya know, eventually you are gonna level up enough that VOS will not be an option. Even the mobs in the back go dark blue for ya. The idea will work. You have some hard core blinders on your eyes man.
In all honesty - I won't usually touch glitterfields, but I say if you leave one, you'll probably have to take the karma... and shouldn't complain when that happens.

Or - well. Forget. Then again, most scavengers are level 1s who will happily get back up after being hit and run back to your field.

EDIT: When did people start losing SP when they died?

You only have to do Sin Eater when you reach 5 PKs. I can do it while I PL one of my alts one evening. I jsut did Sin Eater. I got 750 Karma when I did my 6th PK. That took me about 20 mobs to work off (20 mobs = ~1.5 minutes).

That -> Yes, I know I will eventually outgrow VoS. But ATM I'm looking at at least 5 more levels there (I'm really getting tired of killing the same mobs, boring as *****) so it will work for at least a few months since I'm in perma-slack mode now it seems.
