Maybe some aren't interested

and prolly some already read it, but because this thread at the MMORPG-Forum about Lineage2 game and community (http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/118065)

maybe says alot about the whole Lineage2 community, so you get the link here again.

I'm playing since open beta on Gustin and according to this, what I've read, I'd like to ask here, if its the truth, what players and ex-players wrote at the MMPORG-forum?

What do you think?

Is it like most of the L2-players are as cruel and dumb as a band of mods? Where they smirk and clapping their friends on the back, after they knocked down a single man with footkicks, when they were 3 or even 5 man?

on Gustin i.e.:
I love Lineage2 but i.e. if I look at beastfarm, sometimes I feel like half of the L2-players are mean or meaningless or both and the other half is afraid of saying anything.
DragonFire an alliance of farmers is occupying beastfarm almost since this area has been added. They doing it most of the time with 1 or 2, sometimes with a hand full of real players and some boxed chars. They farming there the a-grade helmet recipes and alot more good stuff.

This area was and is still the chance for the lower and little man/woman in game, who is not allied with the big clans and forces.

Is this a matter of the game architecture, that only 24h/d farmer-groups can hold an area like this - or is this simply the community, who wouldn't care about a new/lower player's issue, as long they can be rich, strong and mean to low levels?

Maybe this sounds to dramatically, but I know there are many player on Gustin, who are thinking the same or simulare.

Lineage 2 is Bartz. Lineage 2 is Blah. All else is nonfactor. Stick to your sheltered forums, and empty bot run server. I almost envy you.

The real community thrives on psychopathic behavior. It's a tug-o-war of sadism and RL griefing just to protect those thousands of dollars of ebayed assets. Believe it or not.

Nobody ever thinks a simple game could nourish so much cruelty.

I'd like to know what happens on the other servers? Is there any server where the community found a solution to things like this?
LOL i sense alot of confused individuals in this thread.
I'm having fun when I read blah, I don't go there for some masochist reason. And people who do usually end up banned :)
Funny reading, but pretty much dead on.

That sepok guy (the one in quotes above) got it dead on too LOL.
Yes.
What is the blah site?

What is the blah site?

www.l2guru.com (http://www.l2guru.com) or www.l2blah.com (http://www.l2blah.com)

Theres alot ot be said in what the people where saying.

But I disagree on a few parts, First I think that NCsoft korea botched the game. First by not allowing NcAustin any rights to format the game for NA/euro players. Second by having only 1 dev team, and that dev team hasn't fixed the imbalance in PvP yet (dwarfs, buffers, healers); With that of the long range classes.

Then their is the persistent cheeting, and the hella hard grind that just keeps getting harder.

Along with that grind is the boring and badly complacent grind area's that have lil to no change. (too many to list)

Another issue thats plaguing the game is the servers. Inconsistency in stay online. Inability to hold enough mobs for players to grind on (noob villages). Massive land mass thats not getting used!

Then you have issues with bugged quest making to live release, insanely hard quest (subclass, etc). And imbalance in drop tables.

Can NCsoft fix it: yes!
Will they? nope!!
blah is the forum that you can read and write, whatever is censored in these forums.
a lot more junk and inaccuracies but freedom of speech is granted there.
I've begun to wonder if the reactions to L2 aren't more cultural than anything else.

Slow progress, complicated goals, adversity, individual accomplishment....that doesn't describe many average Americans imo (lol). And I'm definately an American.

Look at the game suggestion threads on our side:
"Make my class better"
"Make the game easier"
"Give more free stuff"
"Limit ubers and incent lowbies"
"Make it harder for others to kill my toon"
"Make it easier for 'just MY toon' to kill others in-game"
"Change the game to entertain me"
"Let me get stuff easier"
etc.

Maybe a significant amount of Americans are just more suited to Halo than a grind game like this.
Just a thought.
~D~
Well after reading a particulary long thread on that page it made me have a good hard think about this game so thanks to the posters on there NCSOFT have lost a paying customer.
It is a cultural thing. Americans don't do much teamwork when it comes to gaming, love to be number one and don't like being support, cause then they don't pwn. On the asia side, it's not so. They like to work as a team, like to help each other out and work towards a common goal. They don't mind grinding. I think there are NA players that feel the same way as well, but the ratio of that type of player to the pwner player is exponentially different.

Americans are too competitive, in a nasty way. This filters out the people who came to Lineage 2 to have fun and eliminates casual players altogether. That competitiveness stacks and then people start to do anything to be on top. This leaves behind others who play for fun, not for an obsessive need to be top dog. It reminds me very much of the attitude I see when a foreigner is in the states, yet americans get pissy about how they don't speak english. Now we have americans playing a game not culturally made for them, but instead they want to bully things into being their way.

If changes were made to Lineage 2 to make it suit NA tastes, would it even be Lineage 2 anymore as the devs see it? As the population it was concieved for sees it? I don't think so. As much as I love this game, it just wasn't meant for NA. :(

btw, just so you know, I'm American too. :)

I'm not american, and before this game and in RL it's still like this: I don't know one American and not one Chinese ( ok my english-teacher was american, she was ok  ;) ok ok if I look at Lineage from a cultural point of view - hmm shall I say some US ppl maybe don't like that slavery is brushed away? Gimme 10 chinese to serve me a coke?

I made two chars at beginning of Lineage2 with chinese names, only because before Lineage2 I've been in a clan in another game, where all our chars had chinese names - nvm - I've been several times attacked just because of the name - argh these days I thought racism seems to be pretty usual in Lineage2. The funny point in my mind was I almost became a " I hate Chinese"-racist myself. I have never seen players acting like this cruel and selfish than the chinese farmer in Lineage2 (anyone remember RMB521 on Gustin at Abandoned camp?) I agree on there seems no chance with this community to get a problem intern solved - we can say there is no "community" as an unity - a whole and there might be some asian, who would like to have a community working together blah blah..., but most of the asian I've met in Lineage2 are mindless botter or must be racists as well. What kind of community is it in a game , when bots and their protector killing everyone on sight (pure RL economical reason?) and 1/3 of the real players is only happy, when they can be mean to weaker players and 1/3 is always looking for the strongest group where they can join, degardless of reputation or honor and maybe 1/3 of players who wants a fair game and fun with friends.

tbh to face up the facts it looks like Lineage2 is a fantastic game, but it gathered the worst of all nations, maybe it brought up the hidden meanness in a world, where all told Behave prettily!

and maybe some nice guys too :D.
