Since I keep getting the runaround through the PlayNC support site, I thought I'd take a shot at asking my question here.
Let's say that you're the leader of a clan, and you want to transfer leadership to someone in the clan so that you may leave the clan without dissolving it.
Can you transfer leadership to someone in the clan who is still technically in the clan, but doesn't even have an active subscription to the game anymore (meaning, that he can't even log in)?
Or, could you request a clan leader transfer, and following the Tuesday maintenance period, the leadership role will transfer to the (inactive) clan member? Would the clan be dissolved if you tried to transfer leadership to an inactive clan member? Does the clan member need to log in to "accept" the role of clan leader?
I'm pretty sure that it would either 1) work or 2) not work. In other words, I don't think the clan would disapear into limbo.
The reason they do clan transfers during maintenance is they probably have to manually edit the database, so the person doesn't have to log in to become the new clan leader. At least when I transfered my alt clan to a different alt, the new leader name could be seen in the community board before I had logged on my alt who was the new clan leader.
The only thing, though, is the clan will have no effective leader after the transfer, and I'm not 100% sure that rights carry over when a clan is transfered. In either case, you couldn't claim back leadership of the clan until your friend would reactive his account, and you risk the chance of not having any invite / kick / title / etc rights.
It will work. Unfortunately, you'll not be able to get anything back from the warehouse, or be able to assign rights (unless you have those rights assigned to others already), or transfer leadership back.
