I understand why you locked the post but maybe you misunderstand the forum rules we have talked about private servers being shut down on here in the past RustNC and HGMSpam even talked about it in great length because NCSoft was proud of the work.
Talking about playing on illegal servers and how to get them is against forum rules, but when people are congratlating NCSoft for shutting down illegal servers thats suppose to be ok or have the rules been changed again?
It is like Spam's team doing an overnight banning of 1000 bots that is very noticed and the people on the server showing you they are happy with the work being done and you lock the post. Of course these posts have to be watched so that they do not stray into topics that cannot be talked about, but generally speaking as long as specifics are not given and someone is congralatiing ncsoft for stopping something against their EULA/TOS etc., that is a good thing and should be left to run.
I think the topic was locked because it started out rather... sarcastic-reading. That may not have been the OP's intent, but to me it read (strangely) like the OP was upset that the server had been closed.
Maybe I misunderstood that previous post, but the poster sounded like they were being sarcastic, and not in the least happy with NCsoft about the private server being shut down. As it seemed like a very pro-private server post, I locked it.
If it were a positive post, yes I would have left it open for discussion. :)
My english is not good but i understood that he liked about the private server closed. They typed about new players coming and this is good.
If a private server close i believe that around 80% of its players come to the oficial lineage2 and some from another servers affraid they server close too.
Is to hard stay away from Lineage2 :)

Well there has a noticeable increase in brand new l2 players lately so private servers being shut down might be the reason I have had 10 players alone in the last week join my clan and enjoying it 6 were from private servers and said this is a totally different experience which I guess at this point is good lol
Well the poster seemed to be from greece and english probably is not his native language and he did much better job then some of the posts ive seen from people whose first language is english lol

I found same new players talking about come from private servers too and saying how was a waste of time play at a private server.
I am happy with em tbh. I sold a pair of dc gloves(that go 7m) for 20m yesterday to a new player that hasnt even decided yet what class to play..Seems he was very good at the market thingy

Heh we got someone asking in another forum who just started, where to get A grade recipes couldn't find anything about it. We said don't worry about it you have a while but he HAD TO KNOW.
On Lionna there has been an influx of new players too... I think we have 5 new academy members that joined over the last week. One couldn't take the "low xp/drop rate".... LOL... so they left.
whichever server they choose will see a rapid rise in the amounts of farmers and an artificial inflation of the economy.

Not just greeks ive found but a lot of Germans, Italians, English and Brazillians now too.
Ops. I am a brazilian and play at Gustin and only a few of brazilian play at gustin and 10 myself invited to play la2.
I didint find any doing bots or ebay but i cant say anything about others server.
I know that Khain have a lot a brazilian and i dont play there because one of my motivation to play la2 is to learn english :)
I know that Brazil have many private servers with a lot of players. I hope all closed then more brazilian will come.
Greeks most certainly aren't the only ones which ebay, and that is not at all what that word implies. It was coined so people wouldn't have to say "the Greeks" anymore when they were indeed only refereing to a certain kind of Greek player, but thanks for getting on the defensive.
Think of it as the equivalent of "Giga Kidz", a way to refer to Germans playing then eRO (now iRO) in its open beta stages after it was featured on a German TV Show (Giga TV) as a free and cute online game. Giga Kidz generally referred to those who refused to speak English, jammed (KSed) etc.
And just like that, GRebayer refers to a particular kind of player - ebays masses, usually bots, goes xa0xa0xa0 endlessly, trashtalks after PvPing without actually winning the battle him(her)self, etc.
And of course there are no legit people - but that's not a black and white matter.
i got one account banned for critisizing how horrible NC was at controlling the private servers, as well as expecting that they were "stealing revenue" people play those servers fora reason, i wouldn't expect more than 10% of them to start retail if every server was shut down :eek:
10% is still quite a bit of people the one they closed down several months ago had 250,000 players on it (the one the FBI shut down that was on the front page here) 25,000 come to retail and even if 10% of those stay thats still 2,500 new players not too bad if you ask me.
I do however see that L2 looks to be one the largest games in the world if you count people who play on private servers, just convincing them to p2p is the problem.

I'm happy to answer any questions that haven't already been answered. :) We do ban, and do it often. Keep in mind that sometimes I don't have the answer, or can't give all the details a person might ask. I do try to explain if that's the case, though.
Alyra its a losing battle when people scream about that, you give them hard numbers they question why you took so long or that wasn't enough and if you don't give them anything they ask if you are doing anything, better just to say what you say with they are banned regularly and we cannot give actual figures :)

Alrya has done well so far and if it keeps up then im sure we can see a little bit of positive change to the way things are handled within the Lineage 2 staff. MAYBE we can see some positive changes to the way things are handled in game as well, like GM's actually appearing more than once in a blue moon and holding some kind of event with a more personal feel to it.
Then again as CM do you have rights to do that sort of thing Alyra? I know there are some restrictions on GM power and i dont know if you are part of the event team at all or have anything to do with that. Maybe you need to grind and "level up" your in game GM level, i dont know :P
Then again if you let the whiners and moaners get to you all the motivation you seem to have shown so far will go flying out of the window. Lets hope that doesn't happen and the positive stuff keeps rolling through. Good luck.
