Now that there is a lot of information on CT1 being released from Korea and its about to go up on their PTS in the next few weeks, can we get a section dedicated to CT1 for us? They have done this in the past and the section usually runs from the time it goes up on the Korean PTS to 2 weeks or so after it goes live on NA servers (after the pts is closed) probably make it easier on you and us trying to find the new info being released about the upcoming expansion.
You mean a section here in the forums, correct? It's on my list. :) We're going to add it a little closer to when the update is on the Korean PTS, as you said. :) I'm also working on the newsletter and a few other not so exciting things today (reports and such). I'd also like to organize some of the existing forum sections and add a few other new ones. I need a longer day!
I always find if a person starts in the middle of a to-do list. They can get to ether end faster. :)
I loled :D
Yeah me too, especially since I usually end up doing that. :D
As a professional procrastinator I have to point out something. A "To Do" list is clearly an itemization of things that need to be done at some point in the future. Therefore, rest easy as you look at it, since it has to be done in the future it certainly does not need to be done in the now. Revel in the now and enjoy it to the utmost!

i must be a bigger procrastinator. im not 7x.
hell im not even 6x.
Well, Spud, if you'd leave those french fries alone for a few minutes ....
L2 Vault does link to source material, as a matter of professional accountability.
Even now, the latest update translations are on the news page and linked to the L2 Blah forums. I know because I am the one that posted it based on our reporter's information.
Edit: And yes, I have edited the article several times to ensure proper source linking as it was provided to me.
Since I read blah for the updates myself I don't see the info on vault and stratics too often (although I honestly don't see why you wouldn't just link the blah topics in a news post), but when I've seen them, they've always contained credit. I know the newest one did, because I read it, mistakenly thinking that it contained new information.
The only source material to link to is the actual source, where the information really comes from. Usually that's the Official Korean Lineage 2 site or Playforum. You can't actually steal something that is public domain. Most of the time I find the information and then wait for someone to post it so it can be translated, but Blah itself doesn't do the translating. It's the individual that deserves proper credit. If it's not translated by someone there (if you don't mind waiting 7-10 hours after the initial posting these days), then someone elsewhere would step up and do it. Get over yourselves.

a look in to the day of a CM eh? ^^
Quick question, will the news letters still be announcing stuff that's already happened, or will we be getting newsletters about future events soon? I never really saw the point of a newsletter that went over stuff we already knew and was in the past :/

Thats bull and you know it.
If YOU cant translate it, and Pepper (who yeah is a individual, but frequents the Blah boards, and not Stratics or Vault or any of the other crap ones) translates it FOR BLAH.. then you give credit where credit is due.
You coudnt do it yourself or you'd have already done it.
Getting tired of these two bit fan sites acting as if they are going out there and getting the info when in reality they are copy + pasting.

The goal is to give you all a little look at what's coming, instead of recapping what you've already experienced. :)

who is to say Vault or stratics DIDNT translate it themselves?
this is an international game, man. one person does not a translation make. and frankly, if BLAH wants to be the only and sole official Unofficial translation service for Playforum, so far as i am concerned they can be - ill keep my nose out of blah and all its garbage. you keep it, ill wait for the english patch notes so i dont get bamboozled into thinking im getting something before i get it. remember NCNA has the power to withhold data as much as they have the power to spell it out clearly.
Part of the reason Vault links to the original translations ON BLAH is for accountability.
It is our way of saying "This is what's being said. Take it as you will."
Most times, if we post a translation or a rumor without having a source, such a note is made in the article, usually in big bold letters saying THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL NOTICE or THIS IS UNCONFIRMED.
It's all about accountability. I know I for one stress my reporters to cite their sources in their material. Makes it better off for everyone involved, from the original translator to the reporter to the managers to the readers.

I'd say them saying they didnt is pretty clear cut huh?

NCNA is a joke and we all know it.
When was a Chronicle update diffrent from the one Korea has gotten? Answer: Never has.
In fact, its typical that NCNA will not release most major patches Korea has and wait until a "major" update (I cant say Chronicle since its not called that anymore but heh) and pack them all in with it.
Its entirely frustrating to read something on Stratics, Vault, etc thats *word..for..word* what was put on the Blah site by Pepper.
Whatever I guess, you can curse Blah with the same tongue you lap up all their info Spud. Without them, you woudnt see Patch Notes until a week before its live here and those notes would be mostly incorrect to boot! (How many times has NCNA screwed up Translations? Maybe they should hire some people that can really read Korean instead of relying on Babblefish)
I think that the problem that alot of people have with Blah is the lack of forum moderation in the threads that contain good information. If there was a section devoted to "good info" that was heavily moderated, then I think more people would respect and enjoy blah. I, for one, have found good info there, but I am totally turned off by the spamming / "walker talk" / "not work friendly avatars". I also find sigs that run for like 3 pages to be very very irriatating.
Precisely. A lot of the reasons we post the notes on the Vault, besides for information, is so that those who don't want to put on hip waders to get through all the crap can see what's important.
That reminds me, have to buy the reporters hip waders.
We gather news from all sites (including news about interviews that Stratics does) as well as publish our own content. We usually give a run down of what the feature is and ALWAYS cite our sources :) We believe in trying to be an all inclusive site with gathered news from all sources so that people can read what's going on..and then jump to the origional source if they like :)
And sadly..no translators here at L2 Vault..although I'm considering learning Korean :)

1. I'm not a member of any fan sites.
2. I could get it done myself if it came to that, I live 3 houses down from a Korean family and they're all quite friendly. If it really came to that because no one else would step up, that's where I'd go. I'd prefer not to bother them with it, out of courtesy, plus it'd be kind of an awkward thing to ask for. But I could buy them a cake or something in trade. I dunno.
I'd say the Korean population of your boards over there there is dwindling, as noted in the thread. I can't imagine why that is. :p
And she left to Aion because ...
to quote the raven "the game got horrible"
if the KOREANS dont even like the game anymore, thats gotta tell you something ashane.
That its getting..well..old? :)
Sure. Aion does look fresh, new. Its also entirely more casual based.
Lets not forget just how old L2 really is compared to some MMORPG's on the market :) Its a grand daddy almost.
you acknowledge it to be an RPG by calling it an MMORPG. many many people simply refer to L2 as an MMO, or MMOG.
in the strictest terms of old MMORPG's, yes it is old, but offers nothing more than stunning graphics and a shoddy backstory. the engine it is based on (Unreal Tournament) is an MMOG, and i never heard it referred to in any sort of RPG way. this spins L2 into an MMOPVPG if we relinquish the shoddy backstory and the whole PVE aspect of the game.
i deem L2 to be an MMO. as such it is part of the First Generation of the MMO genre regardless of pvp or rp influences. when i started, warcraft games (which were RPORTS), Everquest (highly PVE) and Online MUDs were bit hitters on the market. graphic based 3d online games were not as develloped as they could have been, with UT beginning the "looks-are-everything" genre. this outclassed Anarchy Online, starcraft and those types of games manyfold. once Online subscription numbers from those games faded and UT/America'sArmy etc began to rise, the Online Playstation genre of games hit the shelves and flew off just as fast. suddenly the awesome 3d graphics and processing became a real thing for MMO's and players no longer had to purchase systems that would be outdated in 6 months. Lineage, and Lineage2 began an online graphics craze that put players in the seats nearly every night. sadly due to its intensity, even Lineage 1 could not hold the players. it became a cult classic - its players are bent on playing it to the bitter end and follow it shamelessly. such things occurred in Lineage2 unfortunately. the intensity grew with C1 and C2, but the players couldnt take it. and a new breed of player was assumed to have been hatched - the ADD prone kamikaze prepubescent tween. catering to this new player type meant tuning down the graphics and cranking up the Hype. WoW may have started at the same time as L2 on the market, but a lot of people never got into it until all their friends did. so the snowball tumbled, piqued speed and slammed into the wall with MMOG's that spun off into new directions with stories and types. the FPS's slowly and disdainfully couldnt niche market anymore on PC, and more strictly pvp games have come out of the woodwork as F2P since. Warrock (also an originally Korean launch), Rakion (malay) and some MMOTBShooters snowballed and killed themselves when this new breed of ADD prone children left WOW.
so yes, MMO speaking, L2 is a granddaddy, but i doubt it will hold its own in the future with games that stray from the traditional functions of a PVPVE game.

I don't see where we have ever claimed to make any origional translations other than the time way back where Hellrose worked for Sweetchoch. We always give credit to whomever has made the origional translation if we can figure it out and we've linked to l2blah on several occations. At this point in time L2blah is superior to any other fansite in terms of translations because as a forum its so much easier to release the data, contrary to going through the ardious process of getting things up on a fansite.
I get what Spud's saying. Basically L2 arrived at a "in between" time in the MMO/MMORPG gap, being nothing more then a "in between" game for a majority of its huge initial player base.
Although even now, L2 looks beautiful in comparison to WoW or other similar competitors. It does have rather shallow gameplay compared to a WoW however. (Even if hardcore's in WoW hit end game in a week..)

I find that rather insightful. I enjoy the game myself, except for the misery of trying to get drops and move up in gear as I level. But a big reason I enjoy the game is because the looks are really nice. It also helps that this game will run on my 5 year old computer, and that I found some friends in the game. But beyond all that, yeah, some of the latest stuff in Interlude and what I've seen discussed for upcoming releases seems a little weak or out-of-touch, and quite possibly this is part of the market's perception, not just mine. Moderators, I mean that as constructive feedback. (And we'll see if the full realization of the new race and the fortresses do much to change this.)
