I really think you should go Hawkeye, that's what all the FotM are doing. Great damage for PvP, sieges and raids.

Seriously, consider your playstyle and then pick a class accordingly. Leveling characters in L2 is a major investment of your time. The grind will be even worse if you're straddled to a class/style that you don't enjoy. Good luck!

Seems like you were interested in big swords, if thats so...go Destroyer. If you still want to go melee that is.

If you just want a strong character for pvp, then I guess hawkeye, like others have suggested.

Destroyers aren't bad in pvp, I think hawkeyes are just the most overpowered at the moment. Next to the necro.

Ditto. There is nothing worse than devoting time to level up a class you are not quite fond of it. Whether it be a "powerful" or a "gimp" class, choose whatever you will enjoy playing in the long run.

Which ever class/playstyle you find the most fun, if you roll a class you dont like you're only gonna find yourself ending up doing a re-roll into what you liked from the start.

Try all of them... That's the best way of finding out what you like, try a rogue, buy a cheap dagger and a cheap bow and see how they feel like... do the same with a warrior and knight. If if you find one that feels right stick with it, and if later on you're curious about other ones, you'll have more resources and it'll be easier to get a new toon going.
