Player Questions Started Last reply 11 posts
hello all. Just joined in the world of lineage 2 lastnite and i must say this game totally rox. Well, my question is pertained towards Blade Dancers. I have read up on as much info as possible about the job and i feel like its the job for me. But what i haven't found alot of is any real hardcore info on Blade Dancers.

One thing i have noticed alot of people say over and over again in the forums is to choose the job you feel is right for you and your playstyle because leveling a char is very time consuming. So i don't want to make the mistake of lvling something that appears to be cool and something i would like if im going to find myself banging my head against the wall later from disappointment.

Im just looking for any helpful info on lvling/becoming a blade dancer and any other helpful suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

My main is a Bladedancer, but I don't go with what most people tell you to do for BDs, so I don't know if I am the greatest advice-giver for them. I am one of those people who plays the game for the game, and not to be the absolute best. Hm. And there is also the fact I haven't played the game in about two months because my subscription ran out. I want to get back so bad. Ahhhhhh. D:

But anyways, I do mostly PvE with my BD and I solo really, really well. The groups I go with don't have any "real" tank classes, so I'm actually the one who takes most of the damage all the time. This is because, while most BDs take away from their CON, I added as much as I could and as a result have a huge HP, and as a result, am really, really powerful too. Yay.

Most will tell you to use Blue Wolf Heavy, I bet, too. Ha. I don't; I went with Zubei Heavy, and the entire set I have is fully enchanted. Yay.
lol nice. You and i have some similarities. I don't want to be the best but i do want to smash some skulls with a vengeance :P Im mostly a PvE player as well but im willing to try PvP just to have the experience. And i don't follow what people suggest, but at the same time i won't deny experimenting with peoples suggestion. Sometimes (very rarely) i'll experiment someones suggestion and actually like it.

But here in this post im just looking for different ideas, takes, gear, etc.. to be a effective Blade Dancer for solo or pt or both :P

Want to thank you for your time in your reply and sorry to hear about your account >.< that suxxors :P so i wish you GL in doing whatever it is you have to do in getting your account back :)

peace
ill warn u now...dont kill ur self with the Prof changes at 35-40...a friend of myne got so burnt out on them he quite as soon as he hit 40 and became a BD lmao...but yea..gl :)
It's all right, just gotta drop another thirty bucks or so for a game time card and I'll be back in business. XD
For gear, a bladedancer needs dual swords to use their dances, so you'll definitely need a good set of these when you hit level 40. Dances are 2 minute-long buffs that affect the whole party at once, and stacks over regular buffs.

In PvE they're a pretty good class and in PvP they serve mostly to give their buffs to archers or mages. An archer with a BD will probably double it's damage overall, so if you party with 2-3 archers, your buffs end up doing an insane difference (while your own damage is a bit low).

BDs are wanted for pretty much anything, PvP, raids, sieges, PvE parties. If you don't mind doing the same buffs every 2 minutes, it's definitely a great class and a very enjoyable one as well.

Pay ALOT of attention to that. I got mine to 60+ something and just got fed up with the play style.
Yeah, buffs are a pain in the *** to redo every two minutes, sometimes I skip a round when I'm hunting with a friend. He's a silver ranger, so we're a pretty good team, though. Archers are a BD's best friend!
Of all of the classes that I play (let's face it, I play WAY too many classes), I think the BD is probably the most straight-forward, gamer-friendly class. It teaches you about mana management, but not so much so that it's a pain to constantly watch your mp bar, like some of the mage classes. You'll also learn how to party effectively, both PVE and PVP, if you so chose. Finally you can solo with this class, although as with MOST classes, at higher levels you'll want buffs to make the grind less of a chore. While I have heard of some folks burning out on the class at higher levels, I can't say that's any different from the other classes.

As for gear and setup, there is a prevailing theory on how BD's should equip themselves...and then there's the rest of us.

At C grade most will say get Full Plate Set and a pair of Crit duals. I had an SE buffpet at the time, so I had no problems using PL Set and Haste duals. PVP was not my interest at this level, PVE was. This was before Mammon, so I went with the cheapest set of duals that I could craft, which were Katana-Katana back then.

At B grade, I determined that I needed more footspeed, since I soloed mostly in the fields. But I didn't want to give up the STR that came with PL Set. Naturally, BW Heavy was the logical choice. +3 STR was just a hair off of the +4 STR that PL gives as a bonus, plus it added p.def and +7 to movement speed. And yes, believe me when I say those little added bonuses DO matter when you only have 20 minutes here and there to XP.

For my duals at B grade, I used Tsu-SLS (Focus) at first, broke them trying +8, and subsequently enchanted a pair of Calibur-SLS (Haste 5%) to +16. I tend to agree with the conventional wisdom at B grade that crit duals are the best way to go, unless you have extremely high OE Haste duals and an adena earning, SS-making dwarf as an alt.

At A grade, I switch armor depending on what mob I'm hunting. Majestic Heavy for some, Tallum Heavy for most others. I started off using a pair of OE Kesh-Kesh, sold them, and am now using OE Sword of Damascus-Tallum Blade (Haste) duals.
Nice i don't think i'll mind having to rebuff every 2 mins. Me being a final fantasy XI vet, one of my max jobs was red mage. Partying as a red mage is the busiest job of them all. I had to buff all pt members (and as red mage most of the buffs would need to be casted on a player one by one), debuff the mob cast haste on DD's, and refresh all mages mp. So if casting buffs every 2 mins is the only "problem" with BD then i say hell yeah to becoming BD. Sounds like a job i would quite enjoy.

Heck if i enjoyed being red mage, then i will more than enjoy being BD. thanks for the info Katastrophe very much appreciated.
