I don't usually go in big groups, and really, I typically only hunt with my SO (secret's out, I'm a girl, o noez), so I've never done a raid boss at all before. But I've seen people here and there raiding stuff that is several levels below them on their own. I want to try this out myself, it seems like an experience. XD
Do you guys have any tips, or important things to note? I'll be either doing it on a Elven Fighter that's level 24, or my Bladedancer, who is 45. If I brought my partner, he's a Silver Ranger, 40-43 or something around there. If I remember correctly. All of them have really good armor and weapons.
It's probably best to tackle the ones without any minions, etc., right? Which ones are those? And I want to know how many healing pots, etc. I should expect to bring to not die. Aha. Aaand what kind of drops are we looking at when we take these things down?
Sorry for all the (probably) dumb questions. I HAVE only been playing since March. :P
Only time it's possible is with the Cursed or Zariche, other hten that it's extreamly hard.
It's somewhat possible at the absolute lowest lv's if you bring INSANE amonth of pots and so on, but not even worth it, oh and just a few classes can do it then.
Raid Boss stands for that you need a group, or many of em to be able to take one on.
I know what a raid boss is intended for, but I've never been one to play by the rules. :P I'll probably try to organize a better group though if it's absolutely necessary, but ehhh. I've read about several low-level people in their 20's-ish taking down the one in Elven Ruins, it always enticed me after that. I just had no idea how realistic it is for the upper levels.
The raid bosses in their 20's are soloable, not sure about anything higher. Plan on spending a long time on them, and make sure you start out with full buffs and oodles of greater heal pots.
Odds are you won't get much in terms of drops. Raid Boss drops were nerfed a couple of chronicles ago. You could get lucky though, and get 100+ blessed pet rez scrolls.
Guide on how to raid by yourself or with a party of 2-3.
Requirements:
-outside SE lvl 46+ (the higher the better)
-100ish GHPs (you usually only use 35-40, but it never hurts to have extras)
-3 or 4 GSAPs (or prophet buffs)
-You must be a fighter and you must use heavy armor
-A nice pole (perferably an OEed glaive)
-Find a raid boss with minions lvl 26 and below to kill, the following are easiest:
Grey Claw
Evil Spirit Bifrons
Any bosses near lizardman dwelling with minions
Madness Beast
Boss located in School of Dark Arts
Boss located in Elven Fortress
Tiger hornet if you are very well equiped and are an orc or dwarf
lvl 25 bosses in orc and dwarf starting towns
Also, going to go ahead and let you in on a secret, might be a bug, might not, but since I am leaving L2 I don't mind sharing:
As long as you keep arrgo, a Summoner can attack the boss or minions with his/her summon. I have a lvl 64 Summoner I would take along to help my bro's nuker kill bosses, the nuker would run around and keep arrgo while my Summon took out the boss in 2-3 mins. If the boss hits the minion or arrgo's it, it will petrify and you must unsummon it and resummon it. (Use the cheap PvP summon) This works on all raid bosses, so use it on the upper lvl 30's when they get hard.
gl, have fun, but this game really isn't worth your time.
Get a 24 lvl human knight (24 cause he gets aggresion skill) equip him with Briga set and a BB ++++++++++ full buff him (including G might and vr 4 if possible) and go to Talking isalnd, inside the elven ruins there is a Golem like RB 20 lvl aggro it until you get to the entrance of ER and then start beating the hell out of it. When it is rebuff time get a 20 lvl car in heavy armor to hit it for 1-2 mins until you get rebuffed then attack him again. It won't take you more than 3 buff rounds. then head to spiders nest and kill the puma like raid boss same tactics ;) but it is in open field so you have to w8 for the alt char to get aggro first in order to get your char rebuffed and do not forget to use grater healing pots
Drops aren't a huge deal to me, I mostly just like doing crazy things to break up the usual grind. :)
Me too, I don't even play the real game anymore, I just busy myself finding new ways to solo raid bosses or kill them with 2 or 3 people (my 2 siblings).
One more thing, when you rebuff yourself, make sure you are not targeting the raid boss when the outside buffer buffs you, and even then only get the buffs your really need (aka VR, shield, might, haste) so your buffer doesn't get silenced. Or you can just die and have buffer res you and rebuff.
That is playing the real game. Sorry to see someone feeling like they're missing out on the main point of the game by making it ... fun.
Yeah, but it sucks when you have to look and work so hard to make the game fun instead of it just BEING fun to play. I want them to bring the C4 raid bosses back, then I would be in paradise.
Most of my enjoyment actually just comes from looking at the scenery, RPing, and just being weirdos in game to make people go "o_O". Slowly leveling up is a plus for me, really, and there's a satisfaction I get when I can get new armor or weapons and look nicer...
It just is fun to play for me - I go out grinding, or I go to the arena if I feel like that - I play the market (which IS fun), I chat with my clan, I go and do crazy stuff. Sure, it makes me a lowbie - but at least I'm getting my money's worth.
I need to go buy a new face for Estremoz too, the last one I got is starting to smell after all this time. *^^*
ok well i would not suggest soloing a raid boss at all without a demonic weapon but here we go anyway
since you are with an SO and not an SE i am assuming you are under level 40, just how low is the question.
there are level restrictions with raid boss'
for instance 4 levels or higher above raid boss and drops are nerfed big time.
9 levels or higher than the boss OR ITS MINIONS and 1 of 2 things can and WILL happen unless you know a few awsome tricks ;)
if you are using magic skills you will be silenced, which means no magic can be used at all, actually no casting, not even SoE scrolls, so have a nice run back to town
if using physical skills you will get paralyzed and just be stuck there unable to hit
so assuming you are within 9 levels of the boss you are going after here is what i would suggest
get some nice armor, im not talking top D im talking some +++ armor, at least +6 for the 2nd armor set bonus
get a decently + weapon
+10 or so Top D would do imo
get some nice high level buffs (at least 64+) endgame would be nice some CoV ;) or the correct proph for your class
lots of GHP and you should be set
most people would say that only certain classes can do it, and i agree you cant just assume that whatever class you are, can take on the kind of damage that a raid boss is gonna deal out
also you must realise that a raidboss regens HP in larger quantities than a normal mob so you have to outdamage their regen
so get your strategy down and have fun dying over and over again, cause is it very difficult unless you know what you are doing and even then it can go wrong
would be so easy just to go to dion and shout
"RGLFM lvl 20-30 PM me"
start an interesting quest if grinding is getting boring :)
. 1x Lv 20+ Human Knight (or other heavy+blunt class)
. +3 top d armor and a +3 Aoba+SSB (the accuracy with guidance is like 4 of 5 hits land)
. good buffs Might+Shield+Guidance+Focus+Deathwhisper+Haste+Ble ssed Shield+Vampiric Rage and so on, heal potions just if your server is Bartz/Teon/Franz to get HP full after the item lag is over.
was fun but as already said, no profit just for the fun factor or fast 20-40 academy
Well actually gave this a go ^^ any D grade melee can do it, whatever your blunt or heavy class I can say ^^ Really wish I tried this before ^^.
Used a clean Meteor shower, and +0 Top D grade armor ^^.
Tried 3 different raid bosses, the first 2 I tried went fine ^^ was stupid and forgot to take more screenshots ^^, but the last one I tried killed me in like 2-3 secs, Seems like they are very differently balanced.
In any event, 1 hour work, lv 20-29 on a dwarf who haven't even done first class transfer ^^.
Any tip on what raid bosses works to get a char up to lv 40 fast? sure have an idea how to get to 32-33 but thats it ^^ really nice I gotta say, and yeah fun :)

You went from 20 to 29 in one hour ? :o
That's something i'd like to do with one of my alts, which Raid Boss did you go for ?
(and do you know of a way to get from 45 to 52 in one hour ? :D)
just killed 2 raids, 1st is ding 20-26, the 2nd is ding 26-29
I killed 2 event raids, both Lv 20 and was 29 after it.
Those event raids were just a copy of that Talking Island/Elven Ruins golem raid. so camp him twice or go to Langked Lizardmens Dwellings, there are also some raids around that you can easily kill. if you just want xp kill them ligh blue, if you want drops kill them green and it's easy.
Hm, so i guess it's even easier to duo a Raid Boss with a SE next to me, i'll give this a try
One thing i never fully got about parties and xp though : if we're a party of 2, does the xp get halfed by 2, or is there some kind of bonus for being in a party ?
ah I forgot, my buffer was a SE out of party and rebuffed me in fight. he didn't get para/silence, he was on max possible buffrange, don't know if he gets closer to the rb if he gets para/silence, I don't wanted to test it ^^
OK, New here, been playing about 4 weeks and loving it.
I read this thread and thought " Coolio, this is something I would enjoy, I am levelling my DE up to BD, he has good gear (I made a lot of dough in that last event) and he is fully buffed with piggy buffs and I have shots). Anyway I have tried a couple of level 23 boss's and my damage isn't even beating their regen! Am I missing something?
You can solo them with top lvl buffs and good equip.
I would say solo raids is for ppl that have already money and want to lvl up alt chars fast. For a new player its better to lvl slow to earn money.
With pig buffs you better try aoe with a pole in catas if u want fast exp.
Did solo raids from 20-35 on a dagger. After that the RBs just hit too hard. Next toon will be a tanker type and maybe I can raid from 20-39. Maybe I'll try to make a pair +10 D grade boots/gloves.
Oh and a shield is very very very useful. You will rarely evade an RB and a shield block here and there for 1-2 damage is just priceless.
Plenty of posts on this thread contradict that one which is why I gave it a go. Of course if that one was right and the rest were wrong... Not overly bothered, only cost a couple of BsoE but it would have been fun.
I dont blame you. Raids are for more then 1 ppl to get killed.
Its possible to solo raids when u meet specific criterias.
As a new player i suggest better go in necropolis of sacrifice and do manor (red codas or chilly codas ) when u hit 20 and have near top d equip.
Sure the exp is not that fast but the outcome is much better.
Just for explain for 1 red coda seed u get there 8-10 crops.
At my server red coda gives varnish and the manor buys back for 200 adena per crop means you get 1 varnish per crop. One varnish you can sell to buyshops in giran for 800 or set up a shop for 1k per varnish.
That means you get 8-10k worth in varnish per mob plus adena and sealstone drops. The sealstones you should use for greater swift attack pots to kill faster the money drops should cover seed costs and soulshot costs.
If u dont wanna spend adena on ss try get a wolf and buy him top equip and let him support killing. That way u get even less exp but you stay longer in the lvl range for the manor and make even more money.
In one hour u can make 1000 crops easy so u earn 1 mil per hour with almost no costs. I dont think any drops from low lvl raids can give u that.
Cheers. My DE is 31 now and tbh I have a shed load of money from selling EWA/EAA's I got on the event but a1m per hour sounds sweet. Have been in NoS and Pilgrims, good xping for DE but tough for wizard.
Yeah the point is your weapon, a good D weapon or even a +10 top D will get you nowhere. You need at least a good C grade weapon.
For 25+ raid you will need a A grade weapon.

Just looking at ur sig i think ur assasin and your dwarf can still do it till lvl 27 -28 after that harvest and seeding fails will occur to often.
The hard part is to trade in some crops but if u manage u will have a good start.
Oh and that 1 mils is assuming the manor buys the crops back at 200 if they only buy back for 100 u get half the varnish so only 500k if they buy back for 50 dont even sell it back u end up with 250k. If they have increased buyback at 300 u get 1,5 mil. just keep that in mind too.
You can find a good guide here on the bords i think ;)
Re; the BsoE, did sell most that I got from Bonny but kept 5 for emergencies.
not to sound harsh but there is no such thing as an emergency at your lvl
first bsoe i used was at 74 and that was back in the days when you could drop stuff
i might be a bit out of the norm but the cost of a bsoe isn't worth the xp loss until at least into the 50's
I use to solo a RB with my nubs when they hit 20, equipped with +3 Brig set, +10 bb, 8-9k shots, 300+ ghp and newbie buffs(vr is good) and it takes no more then max 40min, i usually get between 5-6 levels.
Imho looking at expenses versus gain in levels, makes it a good deal...but that might just be me who thinks that :)
Yeah the point is your weapon, a good D weapon or even a +10 top D will get you nowhere. You need at least a good C grade weapon.
For 25+ raid you will need a A grade weapon.
Not true at all. I raid bosses up to lvl 28 (30+ with a destroyer for now) with an OE glaive. +6 or above works fine. Clan hall buffs + gsap and you're set.
In any event, 1 hour work, lv 20-29 on a dwarf who haven't even done first class transfer ^^.
You went from 20 to 29 in one hour ? :o
With 3 RBs you can go from lvl 20-32+ with just the newbie buffs you get when you are lvl 20-21 (for BTB6 and VR4), might3, focus3 and deathwisper3 is a good thing to get to.
So far I have lvled 4 chars (dwarf, monk, orc rider and an rogue) that way.
Actually a Human Warrior with a A grade Dagger like soul Sep outdamages any class with any gear on solo raiding. (unless you try to kill the golem raid :) )
(S Grade is just not worth the S*SS costs).
Warcry and a +3 SoulSep = over 500 P.atk for 1 minute every 1 minute and 20 secs. Yes you do miss, but hell over 600 attackspeed and a cirt rate of 139+ is insane at those levels.
Activate Accuracy toggle, switch Vicious Stance if you really need it. Critted those poor lvl 25 raids for 600 damage and his minions for 1.4K. And you do happen to crit 2 -3 times in a row.
Even deleveled orc Raiders with frenzy couldn't keep up with a dragon slayer..
The Downside to a Dagger is that many, raids are dagger resist, in that case you won't be happy.
Oh and don't touch those nasty Solo raids above lvl 25, any group raid will not take even half the effort.
I once saw a video of a DA soloing the kat raid, think outside Giran. Well, wasnt 100% solo, it i remeber right he had a OOP healer/buffer with him. :P might have been on a privet server tho, couldnt really tell.
But you CANT use SS when you are not of equal grade !!!
Heh, and they wonder why people don't believe that 7x = authority on in game knowledge.
You can use SS freely, you just will miss so much that you won't wind up using as many (unless you have nice buffs :p ).
Yeah, I actually lvl most of my toons from 1-20 with a +6 claymore. Can use SS's in a pinch, but it doesnt need it it hits hard enough. Just grab guidance and wham....
