Its been well over 1 year now with that annoying thing spamming chat with "the end is near" "time to meet death" blah blah blah blah blah"
Its way past the point of getting old, its at the point, I want to buy a plane ticket, fly to the devs house and smack him across the face for making such a stupid annoying npc. "this is not a threat, I want to, but im Not going to"
I would like to start a petition to remove that Preacher of Doom from all the towns.
If it only repeated the message once every 20 minutes, it wouldn't be so bad... oh, and in a cyclic pattern. So if you have 4 of these SOBs floating around the town square, North says it, then 20min later East, then South, then West, and finally North again, so he actually repeats himself only once every 80 minutes.
I wouldn't mind if they served more of a purpose. The little buff thing they give is fine but it would be better if they had a short list of buffs you could choose (only 1 at a time) from that last 1 hour and is suited to fighting the mobs in the catas/necros. Then I wouldn't mind them repeating the same stuff over and over. :D
the buffs/debufs do serve a purpose as thats the penalty/reward u gain when the side you chose to support aka dusk or dawn wins/loses and having them in town makes sure that you will get optimal effect, don't like them don't sign up
the chat spamming is annoying though yes, less frequent or with more variety or even a block option would be nice

Are you an idiot, or do you just not read?
You didn't see my 2 post that state basically the same thing.
I'm not arguing worthier or not signing up to dawn/dusk is worth it. I'm saying that the preachers should not be in towns!!! They need to be in hunting zones so signing up as dusk when dawn won would mean you actually get a debuff that will hurt you while your out lvling, PvPing.
Rather then getting a Debuff that what lowers your hunting ability while you sit afk in town?!
I mean come on, pay the hell attention. The way the preachers are implemented in the game right now serves no purpose, they should be in locations that would give them a purpose for what they where intended to do "debuff combat ability."
If this was the case people wouldn't be here complaining about chat filter and the NPC's spamming chat; now would they?
It would be unbearable to get that debuff while out hunting - I honestly think that would be too harsh. You're still in town before you go out to do whatever you want to do (pvp, pve) so it does have an effect.
I remember when they had just implemented seven signs, and the first time dawn won (I had gone dusk) and how much of a hassle that debuff caused. It was avoidable, depending on where you ended up after having SoE'd, but far from every time.
On topic: /signed. Or at least don't put them in front of gatekeepers. It's bad enough with player shops around those areas.
Matsu you must play a physical class. The negative mage buff whcih severely reduces casting speed is way too harsh, especially when you consider the physical negative buff does almost nothing to hinder a player, and the positive buffs for any class do almost nothing to help a player.
The buffs need to be rebalanced to bring the mage negative buff in line with the rest of the barely noticeable positive and negative buffs. Or jsut get rid of the negative buff and make the positive buffs actually worth getting.
Yeah, what is it - 30% cast speed? It's enough to get yourself(nuker) or your group(healer) killed if you forget you have it on - of course the accuracy hit hurts a melee class, but it's not comparable.
Seperate channel would solve Racetrack, harbour announcement and transforming mobs all at the same time. ^^:
I think originally C3 teaser notes read that those orators and preachers will roam land according to who wins (specific manor ruled by castle?) and buff and debuff people. I thought it's gonna be like "if castle owner of this town wins = dawn, the'll move across whole realm" and "if another clan holding castle looses it's cabal, dusk monsters will move around" and vice versa, something like that. Well, disappointment was they appeared only in towns.
Can't have everything.
Even if you can, /block never removes white chat or even shouts...just pm's. :(
And, I agree with most. It can be annoying at times, and the best solution would probably be to just have the time between be longer, or give them their own channel.

Someone isn't paying attention to patches
Yeah obviously if he was, he would know that the last patch makes it so if any one is blocked, you can't see any of their chat.
I so totally I agree I hardly have the words to express myself. During this time period, I usually turn off white chat because it is so obnoxious to have that spammed over and over and over when in town or in a sell shop. I lose a few chats directed at me, but it is worth it.
And, while we are at it
RE: Monastery of Silence:
We KNOW those ****ed monks want us to disarm our weapon. We aren't going to; ^^ our purpose is to kill them with the weapons. I mean, do they have to be **** about it????
We really should be able to block the repeated messages over and over and over and over.... arg!
I totally aggree with this. Ignore NPC option would be nice. It's really lame to have to turn off white chat for something like NPC shouts. Definately something that needs to get fixed.... cause it's broken.
And i agree that the caster debuff is too harsh, the fighter one (-10 accuracy) doesnt hurt too bad
But this just goes in line with the rest of the game, punishing you at every turn. Instead of rewarding the winner of 7signs with buffs they punish the loosers. When you go out of your way to craft an item you stand a big chance to loose the entire thing. When you pvp in this "pvp game" you loose several hours of xp. The list goes on and on
Well, you do get that blessing... but one of the problems with that blessing is it gives you a false reading of your weight... and if you have gone out to hunt, 20 minutes down the road you have too much weight. It ends up being a problem instead of a blessing. Perhaps it should give you a boost in the area that it debuffs you if you lose. But, I sure don't wanna hear about it over and over again while I'm in town :)
... and maybe, just a suggestion, it should be a system chat and not a white chat.
